From the ‘Murder Capital’ of Europe to the safest place in the UK in less than 20 years

Professor John Robertson OBA

My column in the March 2025 Scots Independent, on paper, delivered to your door, is available at:

https://scotsindependent.scot/FWShop/product/annual-12-month-subscription/

About:

Since 1926 the Scots Independent has been the only regularly produced publication that fully supports the cause of Independence. It has always been produced and distributed by volunteers. This remains the case today with everyone involved living in different parts of the country. So long as there are willing volunteers the newspaper and the website will continue. Our remit is not to make great proits for our masters but to help spread the pro independence arguments to the people of Scotland, and further afield.

The OBA:

Since 1983 the paper has awarded the “Oliver Brown Award” to a journalist, author, critic, illustrator, radio or television performer who, in the opinion of the judges, has done most in the preceding year to advance the cause of Scotland’s self respect. The award is a carved topography map of Scotland   The presentation of the award takes place every year at the Annual Scots Independent Lunch which is held in the Salutation Hotel, Perth.

  1. Well done SNP. Just goes to show what can be achieved in a few short years when you have a SCOTTISH party at the helm rather than an English party.

SNP I know like to tell us how they are doing great things but they also MUST remind people what things were like when England was in full control of Scotland. Controlled from London, for centuries and then from Holyrood re devolution for a few years, and of course the English HQ’d parties control councils across Scotland to this day, many not having even been voted in as is the case with Edinburgh, and the city is mess.

It’s a mountain to climb for the SNP to continue to repair the damage to Scotland that took place over decades, and especially since oil was discoverd and extrcted by the government next door. Look at Latin American countries, and how they have been wrecked by the US in order to take their resources etc. Same tactics.

    Watch this space.

It is being suggested that there now may be even more funding cuts to GB Energy, though the original figure quoted when Labour first introduced this ‘ big’ project has already been cut, originally it was supposed to be £28 billion in funding but that was then , at a later date, decreased to a far far lesser amount.

The Guardian today reported that the “UK Treasury weighs up funding cuts at GB Energy”.

The Great British Labour green energy plan is now looking more and more like another Great British Labour party con.

Another cut to GB Energy funding ?

Well that should increase jobs and generate investment in Scotand….Not !

No worries as we, Scotland, have a GB Energy nameplate at the Scottish HQ of GB Energy, where the Chairman of GB Energy did not fancy being based here in Scotland at the, checks notes, GB Energy HQ, but instead he preferred being based down south in Manchester, where all of the action is and also will be in the future for GB Energy (as in the majority of jobs, benefits etc etc).

(Of course all resources for GB Energy is courtesy of Scotland mostly , as per).
