Scottish Labour Conference 2025 – Jackie Baillie tries to undermine NHS Scotland with a claim of patient death in the corridor that took place in the South of England

The Talking-up Scotland fund raiser, finishing in 5 days, to enable the recruitment of some research assistance, in order to take pressure off me [74 in June and tiring] and hopefully to further improve the blog, has made a good start. At the Scottish Labour Conference, two days ago, Jackie Baillie quoted a nurse in the recent RCN report – On the frontline of the UK’s corridor care crisis:

This morning staff left in tears as we had a cardiac arrest in a corridor where we couldn’t move the bed to the resus area as there were other patients on beds blocking access. Sadly this lady died.

Here is the original:

Is this from an NHS Scotland nurse? Surely it must be for the Scottish Labour health spokesperson to quote it?

You’ll see, above, that it’s at the very top of page 266.

Which section is page 266 in?

Here are the contents:

That event took place in the South-east of England. There is no equivalent claim by an NHS Scotland nurse in the report.

Baillie is lying, again.

  1. What can anybody do about this sort of misrepresentation?

It must be made the responsibility of MSPs to correct these errors if and when they occur as it brings the reputation of the Holyrood Parliament into disrepute.

      1. As I’m sure you are well aware John, there is very little chance of the M.S.M, especially the B.B.C, confronting Baillie, or indeed any other unionist politician about their lies. Their prime reason is to prevent us, Scotland, ever becoming an Independent nation once again, and they will go to any lengths to prevent this happening. And even although you, and others, provide the evidence that they are lying, who hears it? Yes, all of us on Independence minded websites, but as for the rest. I’ve knocked on enough doors to realise that the level of understanding sometimes doesn’t go beyond the headlines on that days Daily Record. And as for M.S.Ps trying to get their rebuttals heard, well, the best of luck with that. The media is just not interested, as it doesn’t fit their agenda.

  2. Baillie is the perfect match as deputy leader to Sarwar as leader .

Both have a problem with truth, that is the telling of truth.

Both are also totally unable to answer any question regarding the Labour party without then resorting to blaming the SNP in some way, in all of their responses.

Both are the last people you would want to see being a part of a Scottish government.

Have we not suffered enough in Scotland since 2014 , to then ever have to consider such terrible people in charge as our Scottish government, well figureheads really, as we all know who would really be in charge if Labour in Scotland were the government here .

Clue…..it would not be Labour in Scotland but it would be Labour.

  3. Baillie’s lies and misinformation just epitomise the ”New Direction” that Labour in Scotland are following under Sarwar and Starmer .

The FACTS just don’t work for them as the polls show so – let’s make up things ! After all , the MSM will not challenge us , indeed they will gladly repeat uncritically whatever sh*te we spout !

I really look forward to the day that Baillie has to be treated in a Scottish NHS hospital and has to face the staff she has maligned for years .

  4. What a spiteful person of such limited intelligence. She cannot see in her rush to attack and, in her view, weaken the government, that she does such a disservice to all the hard working people in the Scottish NHS.

She is one of the worst examples of a politician blinded by her “ambition”.

    Jackie Baillie be damned.

  5. Clearly this is one are we need to follow Wales and introduce legislation to enforce action against MSPs who lie (though I see difficulty in ensuring the legislation actually works)

  6. Obesity costs the NHS a fortune. People need to change their lifestyles. Get counselling and stop telling lies. The Tory unionists underfunded the NHS for 14 years. Labour went along with it. Spending monies on Trident, illegal wars, HS2, tax evasion and. Brexit. Instead of spending monies on NHS, Education and social services, keeping people well.
