The power of early-morning nightmares – Reporting Scotland create a fictional world of dangerous prisoners released early

and public safety when it comes to the early release of inmates, a charity has said.

IMPORTANT – If you know someone frightened by the broadcast above or by the same story in their newspaper, tell them the facts below to reassure them!

BBC Reporting Scotland‘s insert on early prisoner release in BBC Breakfast at 06:30, with repeated doses throughout the day is classic propaganda designed to keep you and especially your elderly and vulnerable neighbours, fearful of change.

There’s a strong correlation between heavy news consumption and anxiety/depression. Some groups, the elderly, the inform, the disabled, are more likely to be worried by reports that seem to threaten their life chances. First thing in the morning, the stress hormone cortisol makes us all a bit more more worried so the impact of bad news is greater and can then stay with us. Anxious, depressed, people seek the reassurance of continuity and fear change even that which might improve things. Evidence from the US shows that these groups vote for conservative politicians. How might they react to a really big change, like Scottish independence from the UK? If Unionist politicians and their media representatives are daily platformed to tell them that everything they currently have is at risk, how will they vote next time?

What are the facts about early prisoner release schemes in the real world, in Scotland?

  1. What happened after the previous tranche were released in September 2024?

2. What has been happening with reconviction rates by released prisoners since the SNP came to power?

3. Is this a panic in over-crowded prisons leading to the release of violent prisoners?

  1. It really doesn’t matter on which subject the mainly corrupt media attempts to denigrate all things Scottish. All designed to keep us in our place, that is, subservient to Westminster, and whatever unionist party is in power. And all because we have had the temerity to elect Independence supporting Government’s since 2007. That will never do. It’s time we learned our lesson, and got back in our box. Well, that is never going to happen. At least I hope not. Surely we’re not that stupid?

    1. No we are not stupid. Watching BBC is like self flagellation to reinvigorate the senses and determination they will not succeed in their propaganda.
