Not for the first time, a Herald journalist tries to transfer a very real problem over the border.
As always, no facts.
Here they are.
From the Community Security Trust (CST)‘ most recent Antisemitic Incidents Report 2023 published on 15 February 2024
CST’s Antisemitic Incidents Report 2023, published today, shows 4,103 instances of anti-Jewish hate recorded across the UK in 2023. This is the highest annual total ever reported to CST. It is a 147% rise from the 1,662 antisemitic incidents in 2022, and 81% higher than the previous yearly record of 2,261 incidents, reported in 2021. CST recorded 1,684 antisemitic incidents in 2020, and 1,813 in 2019.

There is, in this case, a breakdown for Scotland.
With one eleventh of the population, all things being equal, you might expect Scotland to have had around 370 cases but had 68, just over one-sixth of the level.
Might that be newsworthy here?
What were the Scottish examples in the report?
One example of a mass-produced evangelical leaflet sent to a synagogue in Scotland
That’s it.
In terms of categories, there were no incidents of extreme violence and 266 assaults across the UK. There is a breakdown of these:
Of the 266 cases of Assault reported, exactly half – 133 incidents – occurred across just five boroughs: Barnet (56) and Hackney (41) in Greater London, Bury (17) and Salford (13) in Greater Manchester, and Gateshead (6) in Northumbria.

The media in Scotland don’t make these figures up they just don’t break them down unless they show Scotland in a bad light.

Sad to see Kevin McKenna promoting this line of attack.

If you have a smartphone, it might be better to use the Jetpack app – there never seem to be any such problems with it.

Sadly predictable.

You can read McKenna’s https://archive.ph/5hbna article and form your own opinion, but from my own perspective, Kevin entirely misses the point – It was Israel’s military revenge and propaganda which riled folks, and aside a few numbskulls it had SFA to do with religion.
If Jewish folk get it, why can’t Kevin….

At a rough guess, because he’s one of the numbskulls…

6,000 Jews in Scotland. Any incident will be extremely low. If non existent. The majority in Israel do not support the Gov policy. Netanyahu is a crook. Mass protests against the Gov.

The majority don’t support them? Actually 73% of Israelis think the response is either right or has not gone far enough.
