More than THREE TIMES as many Scots would prefer US statehood to staying as a UK colony

US Senator for the State of Scotland, 2030, John R Swinney Snr

US President Elect, Donald Trump’s recent comments on the importance of controlling Panama, Greenland and even Canada, for US national security, prompted the often insightful Professor Richard Murphy to wonder if Scotland might be next. Watch his explanation (6 min 21 secs only) at:

I found it hard to take the notion seriously but thought then, why not see how a sample of Scots would respond to it. I feel sure Murphy would expect we’d all be horrified. I would but, for some reason, felt sure some Scots might prefer it to continuing the current colonial situation.

Is Scotland currently a colony? Murphy, again is sure of that:

So, a quick Twitterpoll, generated this:

Only 345 responses, self-selecting, out of 11 000 followers, so pretty limited but nevertheless still around 100 times better than a typical BBC Reporting Scotland vox pop ‘survey’ in Sauchiehall Street?

Three quarters refused to choose and quite a few were so offended that I even asked the question, that they felt the need to be offensive; farewell to them.

Still, as my gut predicted, US statehood is preferable to UK colony, for more than three times as many.

That was fun, just, only, so don’t fn cheek me in the comments below. I’ll fn barr ye!
