Listen to the above from Richard J Murphy, suggesting that trump might buy Scotland from a Farage-led England.
I’ll do a quick X poll on this but I have to say that US states have a lot more autonomy than we currently have.

No, there is nothing available in the usa, especially under a trump controlled version that is better in any way to what we have here now.
I don’t want to change our master, I want us to ditch our foreign controllers & go our own way, in a modern Europe.

Apart from Scotland being a sovereign territory, not being part of the English crown and Farage not being not a complete f##kwit, golden goose and all that, it’s difficult to understand why Murphy would demonstrate publicly that level of stupidity. Other than being able to bypass Scotland’s planning laws just so he can build his golf courses wherever he wants In not sure why he would want to.

I know, seems crazy, but I’d choose US state – greater autonomy, blessed escape from English patronising

Do you really think we would not be patronized by America? Trump is not very bright but I think he has a Masters in patronizing entire peoples.
I have to believe that you are indulging in a bit of leg-pulling here.

We’d be part of the US in a way that we’ll never be part of England?

First thing , england do not have the right to sell Scotland to USA neither does westminster or the Scottish parliament.Second for those who are daft enough to make a choice just think a bit more about this , would you be happy to live under USA law ? would you be happy to live with USA gun law seeing school children that lose their temper taking mum and dads gun into their school and shooting their schoolmates and teachers , do you want to live near neighbours who all have guns do you want to go shopping knowing all the other people in the shop have guns under their jacket or in their handbag , do you want to lose your NHS your free prescriptions your state education , do you want a USA passport , american style advertising and elections , i could go on but i think this is enough to put you off surely ?

I’ll settle for an Independent Scotland thanks, and not just for the negative reasons ably put by Terence Callachan. Scotland is a small nation, small nations should rule themselves.

Why should we have to choose foreign masters rather than being autonomous?

American States have more autonomy than Scotland. They can raise taxes, pass Laws etc. There is a Federal tax 10%? Americans pay for schools & universities. Healthcare. There is Medicare for the elderly and the poorer.
A totally different system. More like the EU. The Federal Gov govern defence and other major policies. There is a form of redistribution. State Law governs day to day life for most Americans.

The $dollar influences the world economy. A major form of exchange worldwide. Many countries do not have a money exchange. The currency can only be used in that country. The $dollar is the main money exchange. Money exchange in the countries. The $dollar, then the £pound or euro.

As extension of the belief absolutely everything is up for sale, it’s not so far fetched that lunatics such as these wouldn’t consider it.

The front page of The National “Swinney calls for NI-Style trigger for an Indyref” the elephant in the room is -Westminster can afford to let NI/Wales leave, in fact Westminster would probably be happy if they left. Westminster can’t afford Scotland to leave both economically and internationally. The US doesn’t want Scotland to leave the union because they lose a strategic position for Trident. Additionally, as I have said before- England loses its position on the security council, G8, G20, ICC, ICJ. England becomes an over-populated small country with no world influence. YFS
