Researchers predict more than TWICE as many BBC Scotland staff than prisoners took drugs on Christmas Day

From BBC Scotland today:

Prisoners hospitalised after Christmas drug misuse – Five prisoners were taken to hospital on Christmas Day following widespread drug misuse at a Scottish prison. A total of 35 inmates at HMP Glenochil in Clackmannanshire were identified as being under the influence of drugs on 25 December, with five taken to hospital for treatment.

Not in the BBC report:

There are 670 prisoners in Glenochil, so less than 1% were hospitalised and 5% had taken ‘drugs’.

In the quarter ending September 2024, 94.7% of the 357 prisoners referred for drug abuse problems were treated by NHS Scotland within 3 weeks. Only 13 took longer.1

What percentage of the wider population will have taken ‘drugs’ on Christmas Day?

Remember ‘drugs’ includes cannabis.

What percentage of the wider population consumed the drug alcohol on Christmas Day? 805?

What percentage of BBC Scotland staff took drugs on Christmas Day? Typically in the media, any day of the week – 13.7%?2

  1. BBC staff ”drugged” – that still does not explain the unprofessional , inept , skewed , uninformed , biased reporting from Pacific Quay !

  2. Who knew 1% and 5% constituted ‘widespread’, Andrew Picken, that’s who

Tsunami Baillie will doubtless be along shortly to ‘deplore’ and cite ‘shambles’….

  3. Re the second link you provided, regarding drug use by job/profession – I know it’s an American site, but am surprised that politicians don’t rate a mention.

Michael Gove and George Osborne set the standard for Westminster politicians, with plenty following their lead – and I’m damned sure the Yanks have worse than that pair.
