I could walk 140 000 miles or repaint the Sistine Chapel ceiling before Operation Branchform admits defeat

From the ever-excellent Wee Ginger Dug in the National today, 15 things that took less time to resolve than Operation Branchform:

I’m guessing Ukraine and Russia do a deal before a Scottish court, the second it sees the charges against Peter Murrell and/or Nicola Sturgeon, chucks them out.

All things must end. The Ukraine war will end this year and Operation Branchform, soon after.

Branchform was clearly set up, on orders from the UK Government, to milk this ridiculous case as long as possible, ignoring the scornful laughter, to weaken the SNP, as it has, as soon as we saw a blue murder tent on Nicola’s lawn.

Days after the tent appeared:

An SNP MP who previously worked as a police officer has claimed it was highly unusual for a tent to be erected outside Nicola Sturgeon’s home when her husband was arrested as part of a fraud probe into the party’s finances.

Allan Dorans, who spent 15 years in the Metropolitan Police and rose to the level of detective inspector before entering politics, said he “never knew” of any occasions where a structure was assembled outside the home of a suspect accused of fraud.

His comments come just days after James Dornan, an SNP MSP, claimed that there appeared to have been “collusion”  between the police and media in an attempt to maximise coverage of the arrest. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/sturgeon-arrest-tent-home-glasgow-b2358788.html

  1. If nothing else, branchform has just highlighted the naivety of the SNP, they should have maintained Salmond’s zero tolerance, he kept it simple and squeaky clean, usher in Sturgeon with her lavender marriage and a multitude of controversies to hide and the rest of the flock took that as a signal for impropriety, they should have been fully aware they were going to get caught and even if everything was above board with the accounting (it wasn’t) they deserve everything that has happened since, it’s a bunch of amateurs playing against the grownups of the British state

    1. The ‘British state’ is a powerful, well funded, dodgy regime that uses very dirty tactics to take down anyone they see as a threat to their ownership of other countries, in this case, Scotland.
Which ‘controverseries’ re Nicola Sturgeon are you actually referring to, do back that up with facts, as this blog’s sole purpose is to do so. Also you say ‘it wasn’t above board’ again, facts and evidence is rewuired otherwise your opinion and statements here are meangingless tripe designed to back up the ‘British state’ and their attempts to take down the SNP as a political party, and they deploy all sorts of dirty tactics designed to brainwash the people of Scotland into believing their lies about every aspect of Scotland’s democratically elected government.

Lastly. ‘grownups of the British state’, you mean corrupt thieves at WM and their parcel of rogues operating within Scotland with a promise of BritNat shiney beads at the end of their tenure as MSP’s. No thanks.

      1. I think it’s about time WordPress or Jetpack or even John’s website blocked anonymous commenters. I know there are some regular posters here who are always Anonymous and it’s a bit annoying

  2. Just sheer coincidence I suppose but congratulations firstly to Jackie Bird for getting an MBE in the New Years honours presumably for her many years service to preserving the Union and secondly a no doubt well deserved Knighthood to Ken McCallum, DG of MI5.

  3. Some years ago, an oldish lady who lives in my village and a totally unrelated friend of mine, who lives in Perthshire, came up with the same outlandish tale of Sturgeons “lavender marriage”–this within weeks of each other. A planted tale spread by………?

It is the same “character assassination” tactic of the British State used against any anti-UK insurgency leader (Salmond).

Branchform and Britnat media Sturgeon-smearing has now been discounted as “relevant” by many in Scotland (according to the polling), but well done Bird and McCallum, you did your bit and have served your masters well, and your reward is a shiny bauble.

    1. Slightly O/T gavin, but why are so many former postmasters accepting baubles from the British State, the very organisation that tried, and in some cases succeeded, convicting them of fraud or theft? My wife had a franchised Post Office, but fortunately retired just before the Horizon system was unveiled, thank goodness.

      1. Perhaps they view it as a form of apology or some sort of confirmation of their innocence?

Personally the only compensation I’d consider would be a shedload of money following a mass slander/liable action against all concerned. (Yes, I did see the pig floating overhead).

Even then, people have lost things they can’t replace – years of their time, family, partners, reputation, career, sense of self-worth… Whatever they got wouldn’t be enough compensation.

Glad to hear your wife wasn’t put through that.

      2. Its so much easier (and cheaper) to make people “Complicit with the British Empire” than pay proper reparations for their undoubted financial/reputational loss and suffering (many have died or suffered serious mental anguish).

        Its the British Way!

  4. Looking at some of the above comments it seems that if you are Anonymous and want to stir the pot , as one Anonymous commentator did yesterday (30/12 @ 8.11pm) in the first comment on this thread, then that will yield results as now apparently some other people on here have decided that everyone who posts as Anonymous must then be punished .

Punished in the sense that they should not be allowed to comment or that they should not have their comments published.

Even if they , as an Anonymous commentator on here , add comment(s) that are supportive of the SNP, or supportive of Scottish independence & also support the person who runs this informative site.

So it seems a tad intolerant to tar all Anonymous commentators with the same brush because of the occasional bad apple.

Maybe there are some people who do not want their name to be shown or do not want to choose a pseudonym to post a comment onto this site.

If someone posts a comment simply to try and goad a reaction then address his/her comment with an appropriate response to correct their misinformation or their deliberate taunting or just ignore them completely, whether they post under a actual real or fake name or post under Anonymous.

I am going to post this particular comment under Anonymous which I have always done on here to show support for other Anonymous commentators , who I choose not to judge as to why they want to post as an Anonymous commentator. (and who may in the future just want to add more positive and supportive comments onto here to help promote the cause of independence for Scotland) .

Happy New Year Prof Robertson and keep up the brilliant and relentless work that you do on here and also on your other social media accounts.

    1. All the more reason for you to stop posting using “Anonymous “ to avoid being tarred. I know you might prefer not to use your own name but regular readers are aware of the “Anonymous”ones who comment in a constructive manner. If you were to choose a simple discreet name other than Anonymous that would solve the issue, or do you not agree? For people like me who wish enlightenment, it becomes so frustrating reading comments from sometimes contradictory views when they are all using “Anonymous”. Anyway all the best to you, if you are who I think you are, I often appreciate your comments, so here’s to a better 2025.

      1. Thank you for the courteous response, and yes I do appreciate and understand the point you make and although this no longer applies to me as I no longer really comment any more on this site. (apart from my above comment and this one too Ha Ha).

I do still think that perhaps some people may still want to post as Anonymous , perhaps at the end of their written comment they could put their initials to distinguish themselves from other people who also post under Anonymous to prevent any confusion.

All the best to you too and I also appreciate your comments on here too.

Happy New Year to you and have a safe and guid Hogmanay .

(I still read this site when I have time, hence my noticing comments by people on Anonymous posters ).

        🙂
