If you are a Labour councillor in Scotland and do not vote with the Tories against the SNP then you will  be suspended but if there are allegations of “sexual harassment” then no worries your job is safe

Anonymous

Apparently “Labour in Scotland received Cammy Day complaint ‘almost two years’ before suspension”.

The complaint being a “sexual harassment complaint” against the Edinburgh Labour council leader Cammy Day, that is the same Edinburgh Labour council that suspended two of it’s Labour councillors for not voting with the Tories.

So if you are a Labour councillor in Scotland and you do not vote with the Tories against the SNP then you will get suspended, however if there are allegations against you of “sexual harassment” as a Labour councillor and leader, then no worries your job and place in Labour is safe, well that is until someone exposes that scandalous news.

This is the same Labour party whose so called leader in Scotland , Anas Sarwar, expects you to believe that the SNP are #BAD because they do not act promptly when he , as the Labour leader (ITO) in opposition to the SNP, demands that some Scottish minister in the Scottish government should resign if he and his client media decide they have been #BAD or rather #SNPBAD.

While it is seemingly okay for him, Sarwar, and his Labour party to drag his and their heels for, checks notes, almost “two years” on this complaint against Cammy Day.

Also do not assume that it is the so called Labour UK and their UK leader Keir Starmer as the ones who are damaging Labour in Scotland, because Labour in Scotland ARE part of Labour UK too and not a separate entity.

Also Anas Sarwar is doing just as good a job at damaging his Labour party in Scotland as his WM leader and too his Labour party at WM are also doing.

As some of Sarwar’s flaws are his :

Duplicity & hypocrisy

His weakness within Labour UK

His reinforcing of Labour’s UK’s GE campaign message of “Change” that has now proven to have been a big fat lie.

His mistake recently in supposdley “pressing the wrong button” in a recent vote in the Scottish parliament where he then voted with the Tories (which when he was interviewed about it by STV he was laughing about it as he did not see it as a serious and incompetent action for him to have done as the so called Labour leader in Scotland)

Also now we have this latest shocking news regarding Cammy day and how he, Sarwar, the Labour party did not act immediately on this complaint , this just confirms Sarwar’s hypocrisy in all that he states in relation to the SNP and the FM.

As Sarwar often accuses the FM of supposdley not acting quick enough on matters that he, Sarwar , (supposdley) deems as being scandalous or as he calls it #SNPBAD.

I think that as far as the Labour UK party’s hopes in Scotland to be the next devolved government in Scotland and also Sarwar’s aspiration to be the next FM of Scotland are, as a hope and aspiration, both rapidly diminishing as a possible reality.

That is not only down to his, Sarwar’s, WM party but it is very much largely down to Sarwar and his actions too , and now also apparently his lack of action on a serious and very much scandalous matter . One that Labour and he have deliberately obscured , not wanted to address and so they , as a political party , should then suffer damaging consequences because of it , in all future elections within Scotland.

So it is true then, that if you ever vote for Labour, you then have to live with a huge sense of regret , and although your vote is not for life, it may seem that way when you then have to endure the many negative consequences of your voting for Labour in any election, via any Labour government (at any level).

(Cue Paul Hutcheon of the Daily Record – Labour’s election campaign newspaper in Scotland- composing another #SNPBAD headline in an edition of their paper this week in yet another attempt at pro UK and pro Labour deflection ).

  1. ”Cammy Day—historic sex fiend”.
King Charlie meets Chinese spy—oh, change that to Chinese “financier” ( deemed security risk).

But our colonial media? Ferry’s and Nicola and car-gate.
For the mejah, the wondrous Starwars is a stand-up guy, let down by Shir Squire.
Read all about it in the Sun, Mail Torygraf, Tims, Hootsmon et al. Ten page spread in the Daily Ranger.

    Gauky of the Year……every year.

First elected 2010 and has achieved zilch, his base line is zero, and his goals are vacuous. Behind him on Labour and Tory benches are empty vacant faces, hungry only for instructions. The Dumbs are playing tic tac toe, but somehow cannot figure it out.

  2. All female councillors in Scotland should refuse to meet with any councillors belonging to the british labour party without a chaperone, not with the rampant misogyny running through the party apparently condoned by its leadership.

  3. Now there is another one , Labour Midlothian councillor Bryan Pottinger has been stripped of the Labour whip, on the 11 December , after what is now a second complaint that has been made about his behaviour.

This is the second time an allegation has been made about him for two separate incidents and from two separate females.

The Standards Commission for Scotland released their findings/conclusion on the first incident in 2023 relating to him.

In 2023 a female councillor had alleged Pottinger had “behaved disrespectfully” and “had harassed her” in “making an “inappropriate comment about her underwear during a verbal exchange between them at a local event”

It was determined by the Standards Commission for Scotland that “he was found not to have breached the Councillors’ Code of Conduct at a Hearing held in Dalkeith on 23 August 2023″.

Helen Donaldson, Standards Commission Member and Chair of the Hearing Panel, said:

“The Panel found both the Complainer (the female councillor) and Respondent, Cllr Pottinger, to be credible and reliable witnesses”

“Having heard from various other individuals who had been at the event, the Panel was unable to conclude, on balance, that it was more likely than not that Cllr Pottinger had made the comment as alleged. A breach of the Code therefore could not be found.”

Now there is a new complaint in relation to him , Pottinger, allegedly “making sexual comments to another female, as in a young female cleaner”.

“The latest allegation relates to an incident earlier this year in the council headquarters at Buccleuch Street, Dalkeith”.

So this second incident allegedly occurred “Earlier this year” but why then have Labour only removed the whip on the 11 December from Pottinger” so yet again no prompt action by Labour or Sarwar.

(BBC Scotland sleeping on the job again with (for) Labour , as I typed in “BBC Midlothian councillor Bryan Pottinger” on Google and nowt came up from the BBC , Quelle surprise.).

STV News had a headline in Nov 2024 “Councillor facing second standards hearing over ‘inappropriate comments” (they chose to copy the BBC in having no party name in their headline, actually their article on 4 November does not mention ONCE the party that he, Pottinger, is in , top class journalism STV News, NOT).

Second complaint against him by two separate females regarding his inappropriate behaviour.

Also this is now the second hearing in 18 Months with The Standards Commission for Scotland for the same Labour councillor (second hearing to be held in January 2025 apparently).

You know I’m thinking the BBC in Scotland may have to offer a lot of overtime to their political Editors and lackeys aka Researchers to seek out #SNPBAD stories to distract attention away from what seems to be a succession of #LABOURBAD stories in their, BBC Scotland’s, continued campaign to try to get Sarwar elected as the next FM in Scotland.

  4. Regarding Labour in local government in Scotland, I made the following post btl on another blog site. It seems relevant to restate it here.

In what is hardly a newspaper unsympathetic to the Labour Party in the Lothians, the coverage by the Edinburgh Evening News of the goings on amongst Labour councillors in the City of Edinburgh is noteworthy.

From the Edinburgh Evening News, December 19, 2024, under the headline ‘Edinburgh council elects Labour’s Jane Meagher ….’ we find this (with my emphasis):

(Labour) ‘Cllr Faccenda also abstained rather than vote for Cllr Meagher as council leader. She said there were principles which councillors were supposed to observe, the first of which was selflessness, defined as not allowing political interests to stand in the way of good governance.’

The Councillor is quoted: “I have heard in the two and a half years since I have been a councillor, within my group and in other parts of the council, repeated expressions and demonstrations of people who did not apply selflessness to the way they did their job. If you say something like ‘I did not stand to be in opposition’, you are not displaying selflessness – and you’re also undermining the very role of councillors, which is to represent their wards”.

We in the Labour party have a further duty – to represent the people our party was founded to represent. And we have failed in the last two and a half years.

“We have failed to promote core Labour values and principles.”

The article goes on: ‘And she said the electoral system had failed the council because it had allowed “people who put their own vanity, self-interest and ambitions to be seen as king-makers in positions of too much power”.

It’s not hard to imagine the national coverage and negative framing of such remarks if they were being aimed by an SNP councillor towards his/her party’s leadership.

Labour have retained control of the Council with Tory and Lib Dem support.

There is history here. From the Edinburgh Evening News, June 28 2022, under the headline ‘Two Edinburgh Labour councillors suspended ….’ we find this: ‘Leith councillor Katrina Faccenda and Ross McKenzie, who represent Sighthill/Gorgie, both abstained in the vote at last month’s full council meeting that put their party into power. They were unhappy that as well as giving “non-political” posts like licensing board convener to the Lib Dems in return for their support on the day, the leadership had also given posts to some Tory councillors for their backing.

Back then: ‘Labour was elected as the new minority administration despite having just 13 of the city’s 63 councillors.’

Here it’s Unionist parties coming together to secure a city’s council for one of their number. Let there be no complacency about a similar threat to Scotland’s government in 2026.

  5. MSM Monitor tweeted 1 hour ago this:

“According to newspaper reports Anas Sarwar wasn’t telling the truth when he said Scottish Labour only found out about complaints against Cammy Day two weeks ago”

“The party was aware two *YEARS* ago”

    “Sarwar was leader”

“This is huge, given Day is now being investigated by police”

MSM Monitor also tweeted this 53 minutes ago:

“The Cammy Day story is MASSIVE“.

“Allegations of a sexual nature. Police Scotland investigating”

    “Complaints go back two years”.

“Reports suggest Scottish Labour knew two years ago”.

“Anas Sarwar’s version of events called into question”.

“Edinburgh Council Labour group is split”. (which is also rereferred to in Stewartb’s above comment).

MSM Monitor also tweeted 2 mins ago “Neither tonight’s Reporting Scotland nor STV News mentioned the new development in the Cammy Day story that broke in the early hours of today”.

There is also currently nothing on the BBC website on their main Scotland page, Scottish Politics page or their Edinburgh, Fife & East page even though they wrote about this story when it originally broke, indeed it was back then their top story on the Scotland page & Edinburgh page.

So this latest update on Cammy Day & Anas Sarwar is of no interest to the BBC it seems.

Will they add it tomorrow onto their website and/or mention both it and Sarwar’s position in this scandal on both GMS and too Reporting Scotland.

If they do not then it will be yet another fiasco from them that proves that they are not wanting to communicate the political “news where we are” if it is in any way #LABOURBAD .

  6. O/T

    The financial Times headline:

“Candy vows to help Reform disrupt UK politics “like we have never seen”.

(“like we have never seen” well that’s not true. I mean where the H has he been since 2014).

Reform UK’s new Treasurer and extremely wealthy donor Nick Candy, another Reform individual who also was previously a Tory donor, supporter and voter, now claims that Billionaires , aside from him and Musk, want to back the party. (Reform UK).

Just what their UK needs NOT.

Billionaires attempting to dictate the results of elections within their UK via their vast donations.

You could not get a more politically elite and privileged position than that !

Also more disruption after the complete political chaos within their UK since 2016 with a variety of incompetent UK PM’s, the divisiveness of Brexit and also the damage it has caused to the UK economy which then has also negatively impacted Scotland’s economy too.

Out of touch Billionaires think they can make statements such as this , via the FT headlines, where their money can buy political power and attempt to sway gullible voters.

Candy and others like him & Musk are forgetting that many voters voted the Tories OUT in the GE because they, as voters, were sick of all of the constant disruption, that is the lack of stability within the UK, the constant lies, the scandals and just wanted the Tories OUT .

Voters in their UK desperately needed some respite from out of touch people whose only purpose in Politics was to serve themselves while ordinary people were struggling financially, unlike billionaires like Musk & Candy, who think they can use their vast wealth to get more of the same kind of pseudo politicians elected to enable them, as Billionaires, to get even more rich (while ordinary people will still suffer).

Farage and Tice call others “the Elite” yet are billionaires, who sees themselves as those who can buy influence and power by donating to pseudo political parties like Reform UK , not the actual “Elites” in any society.

To define “Elite” in relation to people it is those who are “the people who have the most wealth and status in a society” which would be Billionaires like Nick Candy & Elon Musk.

Of course we have yet to see how the Trump/Musk partnership in America plays out.

Already there is a backlash within the republican party for Musk who some are calling President Musk.

So if that relationship breaks down and the media in America ‘spill the beans’ on why, then that should be a red flag for some voters within the UK to ponder on , if they as voters are currently thinking in the future to vote for Reform UK party who Musk is “threatening” to donate to.

I have said it before and will keep saying it.

We , or rather some others, in Scotland made what has proven to have been a catastrophic decision in 2014 in voting NO to independence.

Of course Labour have to take a lot of the blame for that happening as they , as they were the dominant force in the NO campaign, and they told us we would be Better Together with the rest of the UK.

Now look at what has happened and what may also happen with grifters like Farage perhaps gaining power in the future all because elite Billionaires are going to fund his rise to power, already he has been elected as an MP , so I wonder was this the future those who voted NO in 2014 anticipated and so wanted for themselves and their families.

    I very much doubt it.

“Now is the Time” (to quote Theresa May) when the majority within Scotland begin to support, campaign for and then vote for Scottish independence.

The alternative being that we, within Scotland, will all be rubber ducked, so to speak.
