Labour letting the Waspi women die in poverty is just business for the BBC and, of course, BBC Scotland, as they shield Sarwar

BBC Business, minutes ago has:

Campaigners have reacted with fury to what it calls the government’s “unjustified” rejection of compensation for women hit by changes to the state pension age.

They say 3.6 million women born in the 1950s were not properly informed of the rise in state pension age to bring them into line with men.

Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall apologised for a 28-month delay in sending letters, but has rejected any kind of financial payouts.

Nine months ago, a parliamentary ombudsman recommended compensation of between £1,000 and £2,950 to each of those affected.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/czr36842nd6o

Many WASPI woman are now looking after elderly relatives and grandchildren, in a way far less common among men of comparable age, as well as experiencing worsening health.

Research from Age UK, found 26% of single older women live in poverty compared to 21% of single older men.The Mental Health Foundation reported that depression affects around 22% of men and 28% of women aged 65 and over, with 85% reporting no help from the NHS.

Around 270,000 WASPI women, across the UK, have already died before reaching State Pension Age.

This above is surely much more than a business topic. Only a mafiosi would think not. It’s no surprise that the Labour elite thinks in such terms.

Only BBC Business is covering this. BBC Scotland is, of course, protecting Anas Sarwar from scrutiny. Even BBC Scotland Business does not have it.

  1. BBC “Scotchland” currently trying to fill its pages with as much sh*te about SG as it possibly can.

    “LOOK! LOOK! LOOK OVER HERE!”

Pathetic. Do not pay a single penny to them or watch their content.

Of course the writing was on the wall in relation to this when New Labour MP Michael Shanks, in his role as an MP and also as the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Energy, confirmed that now that he was elected, he would only be working for the party aka Labour UK as opposed to his new constituents, that also includes WASPI women, in his constituency of Rutherglen and West .

As it was reported in August 2024 that Shanks stated to WASPI women:

“You may be disappointed we didn’t simply commit to compensation for all, but as we have discussed before, I think it is more complex than that and I’m not convinced a one size fits all approach is right, or a good use of public money“.

So according to him “it is more complex” and not “a good use of public money”.

However when many Labour MP’s ( as the official opposition party at WM) and MSP’s in Scotland were demanding compensation be paid to WASPI women by the former Tory UK government then none of them (Labour) at the time also stated that compensation for WASPI women was, as an issue , both “more complex” and also not “a good use of public money” but instead they demanded that the Tory UK government promptly right this injustice and so compensate the WASPI women.

The plot of course thickens as in May of this year a vote was taken in the Scottish parliament upon:

“WASPI: Women Against State Pension Inequality” this was in relation to:

“That the Parliament welcomes the report from the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman into the pension injustices on women born in the 1950s; agrees that the UK Government must now urgently deliver on the ombudsman’s recommendations to pay compensation in full to those women without delay; echoes the Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) campaign’s calls for a higher level of compensation to properly reflect the financial harm; notes the report’s conclusions on the UK Government’s failings of communication and maladministration; congratulates the WASPI women on this milestone in their campaign, and highlights cross-party commitments to delivering justice for them all”

Labour abstained and one Labour MSP did not vote (Monica Lennon).

Jackie Baillie abstained on this vote , yet did we not see the same Jackie Baillie MSP and Deputy Labour leader in Scotland , campaigning with WASPI women and so standing shoulder to shoulder with WASPI women in her constituency for their fight to get compensation from, what was, the former Tory UK government.

Of course that was long before the GE was even considered so obviously she had either changed her mind upon this or she, like Michael Shanks , puts party before constituents ( that obviously includes WASPI women as constituents).

Perhaps her position was one where she was merely ‘Playing politics’ at something she knew was obviously a subject that was hugely emotive and one that many women were passionate about , in relation to it being addressed and resolved currently. So she then just had to ‘Jump on that bandwagon’ to benefit , she thought, both herself and her party politically.

(The Tories also abstained on this too, quelle surprise NOT).

It was also reported at the time that Labour UK had ordered Labour in Scotland to abstain on this vote which was just prior to the GE ( 2 months before) , how very tactical of Labour, as in when many of the polls were predicting that they, Labour, would win the GE , so they did not want to do the very thing that they demanded the Tories should do as the UK government.

(As in Labour did not want to commit themselves financially to have to resolve this for WASPI women if they did indeed win the GE , what absolute Swines)

Plus let’s be honest it also proves that for everyone, not just WASPI women, that there has been no change with this new Labour UK government from that which we all endured aka suffered with the Tory party as the previous UK government.

Labour the party that has betrayed the people who voted for them in the GE , that is the same people (voters) who foolishly assumed that a Labour UK government would somehow be different from the former Tory UK government.

Well seems like many of us in Scotland who, as voters, would never ever vote for Labour in any election , were, as voters, 100% correct yet again.

Yet we who support independence are the same people nobody in their UK ever listens to as apparently we are always in the wrong and they who oppose us are apparently (but clearly not) always those who are always in the right. (Right wing YES but right as in correct well that would be a big fat NO).

  3. MSM Monitor Twitter account exposing Ian Murray for the charlatan he , and his party, truly are:

Video of Ian Murray standing up in HOC when Labour were the official opposition party at WM in March 2019.

Ian Murray stated this on WASPI women:

“Has the chancellor ever heard of the WASPI campaign” ?

“And if he has is he deliberately choosing to ignore WASPI women”.

Philip Hammond responded that “he had heard of the campaign and we’ve settled this issue a number of years ago dealing with” (which prompted shouts from the Labour benches of “No you haven’t” ) where he then said “Yes we have dealing with a very difficult set of challenges”.

(The camera then panned to Ian Murray who was shaking his head in disagreement so obviously he thought it was neither difficult nor a challenge…..well for the Tories only it seems , based on the here and now with Labour themselves now seeing it , WASPI compensation, as being both difficult and challenging in them “ignoring” it too) .

Also MSM Monitor had another Ian Murray 2019 video on WASPI where Murray stated this:

” I did want to mention the WASPI issue because WASPI women in my constituency are absolutely besides themselves at this issue in terms of not being resolved. Both parties and both governments , Scotland & the UK, are completely culpable for robbing WASPI women of the pensions they worked hard to be able to achieve. And Scotland could take a different course , Scotland could use the powers at their disposal but they refuse to do so because they would rather create that grievance”

Please please please read what Ian Murray said above in relation to what he said the Scottish government were refusing to do, had the power to do but would rather create grievance in relation to not resolving this issue for WASPI women .

Then see what Labour, as the new UK government , are doing now , or rather are not doing, as they refuse to, but they have the power to resolve but instead they prefer to constantly rely upon grievances.

Also who knew that the Scottish government were apparently ” culpable for robbing WASPI women of the pensions” well that would be nobody knew as that was not true (as in a LIE) as Pensions are a RESERVED issue for the UK government.

    So Murray was lying (again).

I am absolutely livid at Murray, Starmer, Sarwar and the whole bloody Labour party and also too at all of those people who voted Labour in Scotland in the last GE.

Wake the **** up or suffer , that’s your choice people in Scotland , so either finally start to ‘Put up or shut up’ as that’s your choice when you vote Labour or other pro UK parties in any UK or other elections in Scotland.

I know that I am not the only person who is pig sick of all of this.

Big Big thank you to MSM Monitor for tweeting these videos of the big hypocrite and constant liar Ian Murray aka Labour’s WM man in Scotland.

      1. Well WASPI women have my full support (for now that is) but I really do hope that none of them start any nonsense about the SG could or should do something for them, as this is100% the remit of the UK government only.

No doubt Labour here will be carping from the sidelines about how the SNP could rectify this for Scottish WASPI women (which the BBC will promote on their behalf) as they , Labour, are renowned as those who have well polished brass necks aka hypocrites. (as are the BBC, have you seen all the scandals linked to them).

  6. Just (mistakenly) watched Channel 4 news.

The first 35 minutes was all international news from this UK based news programme.

Slow news day in the UK ?

I think not as there was major news story that broke about the WASPI women.

Obviously not important “Breaking News” as far as Channel 4 news were concerned.

Channel 4 news barely gave 3-4 minutes of coverage to this WASPI Women news, as in them being betrayed, yet again, by yet another UK government, even though in their news report it showed Keir Starmer, when he was the Labour opposition leader, standing with his arm around a WASPI woman (she was wearing a WASPI banner) posing for a photo (Op).

Meanwhile the same Channel 4 news programme gives top billing to ‘drug deaths in Scotland is the highest in Europe’ story every year , where far more than 3-4 minutes is allocated by them to that particular story .

Indeed an extensive report is often broadcast by them on that Scottish Drug deaths story, and unlike their coverage today of the WASPI women’s betrayal by the Labour UK government, when annual figures for Scottish drug deaths are released each year, they, Channel 4 news, seek the opinions of opposition politicians(or rather their criticism of the Scottish government) upon this news in their full report on this in their news programme.

NO opposition politician was asked for their opinion on this news programme in respect to Labour’s betrayal, that is , as in this brief news report by Channel 4 news tonight on this significant political update on this campaign by WASPI women.

I guess for Channel 4 news Labour are far more important than women , or is it just older women that do not warrant a prominent report on their news programme , same older women that some people in the media assume can be ignored when they, as older women, are wronged by any UK government.

    I’ve got a great idea .

How about if the media, and all of those political parties and also all of those individuals who obsess and campaign against the Gender identity Bill , and what they say are the rights of women being negatively impacted because of it.

Perhaps now seriously start to consider obsessing about, supporting and campaigning for WASPI women on what seems to be a lost cause as far as Labour are concerned as Keir & Liz have written these women of, as in the same older women who have now lost their right to get any justice from Labour UK , that is them apparently being told they are not getting any compensation, as the new Labour UK government are ‘shutting the door’ on them as WASPI (older) women.

The new Labour UK government have chosen not to right a wrong but instead have chosen to abandon WASPI women, when previously many Labour MP’s, when opposition MP’s at WM, allegedly supported the same WASPI women in supporting them trying to get their compensation. (from the Tory UK government).

Labour UK , within all parts of the UK, for them it is ‘one party one nation’ which is of course the fake nation referred to as the UK (or Britain if not including NI) but also known as England (far too often by far too many politicians and media).

So what will it take to now to convince more in scotland… that the UK is, for them and theirs, NOT the best option, surely they cannot be waiting until we are in the economic gutter.

    I do wonder .

  7. Admittedly it must have been a difficult decision for Labour to make……. do we tax the rich a bit more or protect these poor bankers and their hard earned Xmas bonuses or screw the pensioners, businesses and WASPI women? Liz Kendal must have had some sleepless nights over this so lets have some Xmas compassion and accept she made the wrong decision as usual after all many are already dead or will be soon enough so no great harm done.

Of course to take the decent approach would then look like they were just following the example of the SNP which I guess sums Labour up and gives BBC Scotland a welcome opportunity to brush it all under the carpet.

In any other country (just like the French we they tried to mess with their Pensions) there would likely be demonstrations on the streets but I guess us Scots and the poor are so used now to being shafted by Westminster.

    1. We really do need to reset this ” do we tax the rich a bit more ” we’ve been conned into repeating and call it for what it is, ” making the rich pay their fair share like everybody else ” – The number of tax breaks the uber-rich enjoy or can fiddle are quite mind boggling, and they add up to a pretty substantial sum…

Take the recent furious farmers and inheritance tax ( the vast majority of whom will be totally unaffected ) getting whipped up into a frenzy by Jeremy Clarkson who had openly boasted about diddling the tax-man before the changes were proposed…

  8. Nothing on the Herald web site yet regarding the WASPI women, mind you they currently have no less than eight articles covering Humza Yousaf, and of course the obligatory articles on Nicola Sturgeon and Ferguson’s shipyard, so that’s fine then.

  9. It seems STV News also failed to find any Labour politician in Scotland to interview on the subject of WASPI women. Maybe because they were too busy deleting all their Tweets showing them supporting WASPI women and their claim for compensation. Too stupid to realise that those Tweets had been bookmarked hundreds of times against just such an eventuality as Labour changing its mind.

  11. it’s 9.01am and upon checking Jackie Baillie’s Twitter account I see that she last tweeted 3 days ago.

it’s 9.02am and upon checking Anas Sarwar’s Twitter account and I see that he last tweeted 2 days ago.

Both of their last tweets were #SNPBAD.

This is the same two who, like some Labour MP’s when in opposition at WM, publicly declared their support for WASPI women and now seem t be struck dumb and unable to articulate that Labour HQ are #BAD via their #BAD decision upon WASPI women.

BTW I saw online a past pledge of support from Michael Shanks for WASPI women then he became a Labour MP and part of the Labour government and then all of his former support for WASPI women suddenly sank without a trace.

Check out other Labour MSP’s twitter account to see if they are also ones who have become somewhat shy in wanting to express their opinions on Labour UK/HQ betraying WASPI women , perhaps they too are also just waiting to unleash a #SNPBAD tweet to try to distract voters from what has now becoming abundantly clear and that it is #LABOURBAD and not as they state #SNPBAD.

BBC Scotland are on manoeuvres to seek out a new or an old rehash of a #FerriesBad story or indeed anything either #SNPBAD or #ScotlandIsSh*te that would help Labour in Scotland to survive this new (latest) Labour HQ storm.

Just think both the LEADER (ITO) and the DEPUTY LEADER (ITO) of Labour in Scotland have tweeted absolutely nothing so far in relation to what happened yesterday regarding Labour UK’s bad decision which has resulted in a complete betrayal of the WASPI women whom they formerly supposdley supported.

(As recent media pictures exposed WASPI women betrayers like Reeves, Starmer and also Kendall pledging their support in the past in them being photographed with a WASPI woman , aka now being merely a Photo Op for the Labour party).

What will be Sarwar’s and Baillie’s next tweet ?

Anas Sarwar can stick his ‘Labour for Change’ and “Fresh Start with Labour’ slogans where the Sun does not shine as they now both have proven to be diddly squat as far as being factual pledges.

Vote Labour for no change but just continuity of that which the Tories first started…..and also even worse it seems.

    #NotLettingThisGo

Saw this on WGD’s BlueSky account:

“Sarwar’s page pledging his support for the Waspi women campaign is now completely blank”

“You could not ask for a more perfect illustration of an empty promise”.

“blank” as in a bit like Labour in Scotland who come up “blank” as far as producing any new ideas and new policies for Scotland’s future benefit. (as they are too focused upon both trying to save and trying to benefit only their beloved UK).

As they , Labour in Scotland, obviously are those who are devoid of any innovative ideas, real solutions and too the ability to be progressive as a party in Scotland.

As they , Labour in Scotland, are far too compromised by both Labour HQ and also in fighting for the UK to remain intact, for them as a party in Scotland to ever veer onto an alternative path for Scotland from the one that Labour HQ are determined to go down with England aka the UK.

And yes this does indeed illustrate what has been a succession of “empty promises” from Sarwar , and also his former fake support for some matters that he, Sarwar, is now clearly failing to publicly “Stand up to Keir Starmer” on Scotland’s behalf.

If Scotland had an honest and non partisan media then they would take Sarwar to task upon this.

However they are not , so the chances are none of the media will highlight this , so yet again this will be yet another omission that would clearly expose both the duplicity and failings of Anas Sarwar as a politician and as a so called party leader.

So unless far more of the public in Scotland go online and read about this dishonest and sneaky act by Sarwar now being exposed on social media, then they, as a public in Scotland, will remain oblivious .

In fact some may even be so clueless and uninformed as to still (wrongly) think that Sarwar will “change” what Labour UK have done on this and other things too, as in his party as the next Scottish government reversing this decision for Scottish WASPI women and also the WFP for Scottish pensioners, but only if he becomes the next FM in Scotland apparently( now even more remote as a possibility) how every opportunist and tactical of him.

So how many pledges so far has Sarwar made in his election campaign to try to become the next Scottish FM, where he has stated he will reverse a (#BAD) Labour UK policy in Scotland, but where is this extra money for him to do this going to come from ?

Not a problem as he will , like Labour UK, renege on all of the former pledges that he made in his election campaign to get him elected as the next (no chance) FM of Scotland.

That is the way the Labour party always roll.

So it will be just yet another case of ‘Promise everything now but fail to deliver if they are elected ‘ from Anas Sarwar, thus emulating what Labour UK have done since they were elected as the new UK government.

Oh the joys of those who are being fooled by charlatans but also the pain we others must also endure by those others who make bad voting choices in them voting for Labour.

They really, as voters, need to wise up pronto.

  13. 12 December 2024 Labour MSP Pan Duncan-Glancy tweeted:

“Parents, pupils, teachers, staff in schools, the Children’s Commissioner, trade unions and (despite what the Government says) the data, all say education is going in the wrong direction. But the SNP aren’t listening. So I asked the FM, why is he right and everyone else wrong”?

So WASPI women, their families, some political commentators, some MSM and many others are all saying (despite what Labour politicians are saying) that Labour are going in the “wrong direction” for WASPI women. But the Labour party are not listening. So I asked Pam Duncan-Glancy why are Labour right and everyone else wrong ?

    Right back at you Pam.

Meanwhile the same Pam Duncan-Glancy has tweeted nowt about Labour betraying the WASPI women, so like her colleagues in Scotland, she too has suddenly lost her voice and her opinion on current political issues, but also like her Labour colleagues in Scotland she will soon find both her voice and opinions to once again communicate the same old same old Labour message which is always #SNPBAD.

(BTW in 2017 she too was present at a WASPI protest in Glasgow but it appears that currently she too is “not listening” as in articulating her opinion via tweets on the latest terrible blow for the WASPI women’s campaign, as in what her Labour party have now done to these same WASPI women that she allegedly formerly supported but now seems lost for words, both spoken and written, on another UK government betrayal of WASPI women via her Labour UK party).
