They don’t want you to know this but homeless deaths fell for the third year in a row and drug-related deaths remain well below peak despite one-year variation

By Professor John Robertson OBA

You’d never know this from the frankly appalling, cheap, sensationalist, utterly unprofessional coverage in the MSM of the NRS data, published today, but homeless deaths have fallen again for the third year in a row and drug misuse deaths among the homeless remain well below [33%] the peak of 151 in 2020.

Any 11 year-old can understand that a one-year variation is not a trend.

They also don’t want you remembering that 100 deaths represents only 0.16% of all deaths, far less than the 1 277 alcohol-related deaths or the 792 suicides.

You are not served well as the MSM present news selectively as propaganda to undermine the SNP.

  1. I read Kathleen Nutt’s piece in the Herald. Why that weird stating year of 2017 to try and make her point? It gives her the intended outcome, that’s all.

As John has correctly shown, the homeless figures are coming down, albeit slowly.

Sadly, as we have all come to expect, this is just another example of shoddy journalism from the Herald, in what was really just an exercise to get everyone who has an angle to have a go at the SNP with their comments in the body of her piece. Its nothing more substantial than that.
