Scotland’s oil and gas revenues, even ten years after we were told it was running out, are still FOUR TIMES that of Guyana’s apparently ‘mind-boggling oil wealth’

By Professor John Robertson OBA

In 2022, the South American country Guyana produced $7.5 billion in oil and gas revenues.1

In the same year, Scotland produced $31.8 billion in oil and gas revenues.2

Today, in the Guardian:

Hundreds of thousands of Guyana citizens living at home and abroad will receive a payout of around £370 each after the country announced it was distributing its “mind-boggling” oil wealth.3

If $7.7bn is ‘mindboggling’ then what is $31.8 bn, especially when we were told it was soon to run out?

  1. Yes and how many decades has Scotland been churning out a quadruple mindboggling amount of money from Scotlands oil.We should also add to that another mindboggling sum of money that comes from Scotlands north sea gas and its wave and wind powered electricity not forgetting our hydro electric power produced from Scotlands many lochs and rivers .Who got all the £370 payouts ? ( quadrupled ) over decades from these Scottish natural resources , it certainly was not Scottish people , we all know who got it , our neighbours , the greedy thieving english , mind you we are not alone , the people in dozens of countries across the world will tell the same story about the theft of their resources.

  2. I can’t look, it’s too depressing. I knew a couple avid Labour voting pals back in 2014, said, ‘aye but oil’s dirty’ they voted no. Had pals in England say ‘what’ll you’s do withoot the oil like’, sigh. Little did they know Scotland’s oil was and is keeping their lights and heating on, at reduced cost while the people in Scotland are forced to pay more to heat their homes by the EnglishUk government, to add insult to injury.
Scotland, you have been robbed to the tune of literally £trillions, you can’t allow that to continue for christs sake, your whisky, fish, oil, gas, and next water, is all up for grabs, even more so with a LabourUKEngGov at the helm at WM.

  3. Scottish renewables worth £Billions, increasing all the time. Disappearing south. Scotland in surplus in fuel and energy. Nearer the source pays more. No parity. Higher temps mean less heating bills. Climate change conversion.

Restore the winter heating allowance. SNP is sorted.
