UK Labour Health Secretary’s callous incompetence responsible for Scottish nurse death linked to weight loss drug

BBC Scotland today has been making much of the tragic story of one Scottish Nurse, whose death may have been linked to the drug Mounjaro, which she bought online, in the wake of Wes Streeting’s widely reported enthusing about it and NHS England’s approval of it to be sold online and without, I think, any requirement for a GP to sign for it.

On the 15th October, the UK Government announced a 5 year trial of the safety and efficacy of the drug1 yet on the 4th September, the nurse, had been able to buy it online and presumably self inject it.

BBC Scotland have not linked the story of the death to the obviously influential and apparently irresponsible actions of the Labour Government nor have they researched the views of Scottish health boards. Imagine the Scottish Health Secretary had enthused about weight loss drugs in that way?

From NHS Lothian in November 2024:

Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) have both been approved for use in NHS Scotland to support weight management for health reasons. However, these medications have yet to be added to the East Region prescription list; therefore we are unable to accept referrals for Wegovy® or Mounjaro at this time.2

From NHS Highland:

Currently medicines for weight management are not recommended to be prescribed in NHS Highland.3

Most poignantly from the nurse’s own employer, NHS Lanarkshire:

Tirzepatide (Monjaro®). This medication is the dual agent. It has recently been approved by the Scottish Medicines Consortium, however it is not on NHS Lanarkshire’s prescription list. We currently don’t accept any referrals specifically for these medications as they are not available in NHS Lanarkshire. We will update our website with any further changes. NHS Lanarkshire does not recommend or endorse the purchase of weight loss medications privately. 4

  2. If people lose weight as quickly as Starmer & Co are losing public support then it may be of some benefit – but taking medical advice from Streeting is like taking Covid advice from Trump !

  3. MSM Monitor tweeted today 10 November:

“BBC Scotland has failed to respond to a complaint lodged ten days ago after an academic, who defended Labour’s winter fuel payment cut, was presented as neutral on Good Morning Scotland despite being a Labour supporter and activist”

“Refusing to respond to complaints is endemic at BBC Scotland. The station habitually breaks guidelines, refuses to respond in a timely manner and then refuses to issue corrections even after accepting mistakes were made. This wouldn’t be accepted by Ofcom in any other arm of the BBC”

On 30 October MSM Monitor tweeted this:

“We understand Good Morning Scotland is the subject of a complaint that it breached Section 4.3.12 of the BBC Guidelines by not informing listeners an interviewee, presented as neutral and who defended means testing the winter fuel payment, was a Labour party activist”

MSM then included with their tweet the part of the BBC guidelines that states this:

    “Contributors’ Affiliations”

4.3.12 We should not automatically assume that contributors from other organisations (such as academics, journalists, researchers and representatives of charities and think-tanks) are unbiased. Appropriate information about their affiliations, funding and particular viewpoints should be made available to the audience, when relevant to the context”

On the 28th October MSM Monitor tweeted:

“Why was a Scottish Labour activist presented as a neutral academic by Good Morning Scotland in an interview about the winter fuel payment? This is totally unacceptable. The GMS team have questions to answer. Listeners were duped”

MSM Monitor then included a picture of the supposed ‘neutral academic”, Prof June Andrews, with a tweet by her where she tweeted:

My first time door knocking with the local candidate @gregorpoynton If we don’t like what’s been happening, we all need to get on with making change happen going forward. Talking and listening is the start.(then she put a rose emoji to signify Labour) Every vote will count”.

She had tweeted on the 19 August “Great adventure today visiting our new MP at Westminster @gregorpoynton” (with a picture of him and her standing together in London”

Also MSM Monitor had tweeted that”

“Good Morning Scotland had an academic on this morning who was presented as politically neutral and who defended Labour’s decision to means test the winter fuel payment. Neutral? Here is a selection of Prof. June Andrews’ latest tweets. Her timeline is awash with Labour tweets”

As proof he showed various tweets by her that were all positive for Labour.

Of course reading the BBC 4.3.12 guidelines, I am left wondering why various BBC Scotland broadcasts have also platformed others who have also had an affiliation and/or a connection to a political party or an organisation that is in direct opposition to the SNP and also against independence.

Actually the truth is I am not not have I ever been “left wondering” as I know only too well why they, BBC Scotland, have certain people as supposed “Experts” on speed dial.

It is because they ,as so called ‘experts’, will either defend other political parties in opposition to the SNP and will also defend their policies, or they will be only too willing to attack the SNP as a party, their policies and also them as the Scottish government.

They, as so called “Experts” , will also defend the UK as a state and ridicule and undermine any suggestion that Scotland could succeed as an independent country, where they will present their biased and rogue arguments that they say are indisputable and cannot be overcome by any ‘Separatists’ flawed arguments.

    BBC Scotland neutral ?

My derrière they are. as we all know what side they are on.

Clue, not our one (Scotland’s that is).
