Susan Dalgety misses the three woman who have really saved lives from cancer in Scotland

By Professor John Robertson OBA

Former Jack McConnell spad and regular Scotsman fake news provider, Susan Dalgety, is front page today with:

How three women are saving lives from cancer.

Straight off, I thought she must be talking of those three Scottish health secretaries, Nicola Sturgeon, Shona Robison and Jeanne Freeman. Turns out it’s not them, yet:

Scotland’s dramatically better cancer waiting times

September 20th 2024, BBC UK’s Nick Triggle has:

The cancers with longest treatment waits revealed

with the above graph for NHS England data.

I’ve added, where possible, equivalent Scottish data. While skin and prostate/kidney waiting times do seem slightly longer in Scotland, in 5 key areas, including breast, lung and liver cancers, NHS Scotland ‘s performance is dramatically better, saving thousands of lives.

Triggle only mentions Scotland once:

See what he’s done there? Scotland, on that measure alone, seems worse than England because he is careful not to tell us how close the two countries were to the target over that period. See these two graphs:

On the 62-day standard (referral to treatment begins), England has had significantly more than 30% waiting longer (less than 70% seen on time), since late 2021, while Scotland has always had less than 30% waiting (more than 70% seen) in the same period.

On the 31-day standard (decision to treat to treatment begins), England has had nearly 10% waiting longer (90% seen on time), since 2023, while Scotland has always had well under 10%, around 5%, waiting (95% seen on time) in the same period.

  1. Until England and Wales produce equivalent stats to Scotland for their NHS then the Media and Unionist Liars /Politicians will continue to misinform the Public .

Correction : Even WHEN England and Wales produce equivalent stats to Scotland for their NHS then the Media and Unionist Liars /politicians will continue to misinform the Public .

    1. Indeed.

Just like the occasional audience member on either the BBC’s QT or on BBC’s Debate Night declares how terrible our NHS is because of the SNP yet somehow the viewers are supposed to not acknowledge the state of either the Welsh NHS run by Labour or the English NHS (formerly run by the Tory party and now being run and controlled by the Labour party).

I suspect that those audience members who repeat this misinformation, that they have either heard or read this from either pro UK politicians from other parties and also from the pro UK MSM, are themselves not in possession of all of the actual data relating to the NHS Performance in all nations within the UK which would then substantiate (prove) their point !

What is the point of making accusations but failing to provide the evidence to back it up ?

Well obviously in doing this as an audience member in a political debate programme you are then totally relying on and also hoping that many of the viewers at home will assume that you are being truthful and also accurate in what you are saying.

However any idiot can accuse anyone of anything can they not !

The real objective should be to produce the real data (evidence) that then verifies what you are saying as being factual, the real truth and so indisputable. Also in doing that it would have more impact and add more weight to your point upon those other audience members and also upon the viewers at home.

If that is not done then surely as a supposed point being made it must then be ‘taken with a pinch of salt’ as it seems to be very much just (politically partisan) tittle tattle aka Sh*te.

Also one can file it under ‘playing politics’ from those who, as audience members, often make these unsubstantiated comments and who seem to be obviously those who do not support the SNP (or independence) but instead are either supporters of other political parties in Scotland (and also support the UK as a continued state).

Then of course, in these far too frequent incidents, we also see the hosts of both of these debate programmes fail to ask the audience member(s) as to where they sourced this information from but also failing to ask them to provide evidence that confirms the veracity of the accusation they have made against the SNP (Scottish government).

However we also see some in the audience of both of these programmes who are connected to another UK political party as an ‘activist’ or they have some other role in another UK political party , that then makes them way way too partisan (non objective) and so then they are very much not worth listening to as far as being honest in their opinions.

That’s why political debate programmes are very much just like the MSM and so are complete hogwash as far as being worthy contributions to any political debate.

Because most of the opinions being promoted are based on inaccuracy , are politically partisan , displaying obvious ignorance, are clearly biased and in some cases we witness pure hate being promoted and projected towards others that mostly , when in Scotland, are being targeted against the SNP.

To quote partially a Timothy Leary quote, which I have altered, as far as any MSM news and mainstream Debate programmes it is best to “Turn off, Tune out and drop out” from watching or reading anything via these sources of misinformation and also very much those who are anti SNP and anti Independence outlets.
