Yet another ‘trial by media’ attempt against the SNP

By Anonymous

Omission being just as important as misinformation in the ‘News where you are”.

However BBC Scotland are not alone in bad reporting.

I noted online, via Twitter, a headline in yesterday’s ‘Sunday Post’

“Investigation into SNP finances drags on as experts say the Police need 1000 more officers” and under this headline they also state “just 30 specialists available to tackle £20 billion crimewave“.

You would be forgiven in thinking that all of the above in that headline and also what was written underneath it was all pertaining to the Police investigation into the SNP finances.

However if you read the content of the story underneath you will see the ‘extra’ officers and the “£20 billion crimewave” are in relation to serious and organised crime specialist officers.

So the SNP are now to be considered the same as ‘gangsters’ of ‘organised crime’ who are part of a “crimewave”.

The power of suggestion is strong with this article from ‘The Sunday Post’ .

I mean it strongly smells as if this is yet another ‘trial by media’ attempt against the SNP where they , as a media, have defined this investigation into the SNP as a clear cut case of ‘serious and organised crime’ needing to be investigated by officers who investigate ‘serious crime’.

Yet they, The Sunday Post, are also saying the “investigation” is dragging on so, as an investigation into the SNP, this is far from finalised in respect to any conclusion being reached on it’s outcome.

It also looks as if this is yet another excuse , by the media, to resuscitate the whole story of this Police investigation into the SNP as they also included with this article a picture of the motorhome with information that includes it’s costwhere it was seized from and that it was seized by the police as part of their investigation into the SNP.

UK media pretending to be Scottish with hollow laughs all round.

This story is really more to do with the media playing politics against the SNP that also includes, what is now seemingly a compulsory factor in all reports and articles linked to #SNPBAD stories , that is the media always including a quote from someone from an opposition party.

This time it was Tory MSP Liam Kerr, where he stated “the SNP’s savage and sustained cuts to Police budgets left our overstretched officers having to do more with less” .

Obviously he, Kerr, has no sense of feeling any hypocrisy in saying this considering that his own Tory party, as UK government, slashed Police budgets in England from 2010 onwards leading to a reduction of 20,000 Police officers there.

I guess it was ‘The Sunday’s Posts’ turn, as media, to try to remind the public in Scotland of #SNPBAD and they were aided , as per, by someone from an opposition party ,who as per , was given a media platform to try to ‘stick the boot into the SNP’ in them also repeating (as per) #SNPBAD.

  1. It really is doing my head in just now. My personal ‘for you’ feed is crammed with unionist peers, politicians and their acolytes all vying with each other to get in the baddest SG/SNP stories. No wonder half the voters think Scotland is a miserable place, full of drug fueled thieves and a homeless person in every doorway, if that’s what they see day in and day out. On top of that, there are videos from Labour politicians in Scotland promising the earth.

Ha Ha that is the Sunday Post obviously stating in the content that this is in relation to a shortage of Serious and organised crime specialist Police Officers in case anyone thought this story , via The Sunday Post, was even more sensational in tone and content in them saying it was these specific officers behind the “£20 billion crimewave”.

    As if.

I mean it’s not a story about the MET Police is it ****

(****Based on last year’s reported story on “More than 1,000 Metropolitan Police officers are currently suspended or on restricted duties, the force has said, as it tries to root out rogue officers****)

That’s me getting collared and my particulars taken down , I however do love a man in Uniform, so I may need to ask them if they do not request them, as in ask:

“Would you like to take down my particulars officer”.

    Don’t tell my husband.

  3. Breaking news from a broken media aka the BBC Website reporting on the Storm where they could just not stop themselves from including Ferries in the equation of impacted services cancelled because of the Storm.

“Ferry operator CalMac cancelled almost all of its Sunday sailings, cutting off services to the islands including Arran, Bute, Lewis and Harris”

This obsession via the BBC in Scotland with the ferries in Scotland aka ‘the worst Ferries in the world’, allegedly , and all from Scotland only , apparently. (according to the BBC that is).

A wee storm was it ( amber and yellow weather warnings) and still they cancel their Ferry services in Scotland (would that be a unique scenario in storm conditions. Hmm)

Meanwhile elsewhere in the UK, as controlled and mismanaged by other governments, as in the UK ones under different political parties, it is being reported that.

“Ministers to oversee HS2 build as costs ‘spiral'” (Labour ministers that is).

This initially was the Tory government’s ‘baby’ as in their project so they started the ball rolling in generating much of this mess and absolute waste of public money.

“Labour Transport Secretary Louise Haigh said it had long been clear that the cost of HS2, which could reach £66bn, had been allowed to “spiral out of control”.

Well with that eyewatering amount, as in £66bn, it kind of puts into perspective how (In)significant Ferries in Scotland actually are, compared say to what has happened and is still happening with HS2 a UK government project.

A project that has way way over spent on it’s original (and obviously wrong) budget (and also the same goes for a few other UK government projects , that were/are , also BTW not actually for Scotland’s benefit at all).

Meanwhile listen to Tory & Labour MP’s and MSP’s unite in declaring #SNPBAD and also #ScottishFerriesBad .

Yet the way over budget project that is the HS2 , where a far too excessive amount of taxpayers money has been spent on (wasted upon) it , delays have occurred constantly via missed deadlines and spiralling costs and significant route changes made as it has now proven to be far too costly and the end result supposdley benefits only one nation (England) within the UK as opposed to everyone in it (that is in the rest of the UK as a whole).

There is also currently another Scottish Ferry story on the BBC website just now:

“Ferry fares in Scotland to increase by 10% next year”.

The article includes the usual quote from opposition parties and the one from Labour is a tad hypocritical.

“Scottish Labour transport spokesperson Claire Baker said: “This eye-watering fare hike is salt in the wound for all the islanders dealing with the SNP’s ferry chaos.

“This comes as a blow to Scotland’s tourism industry and will pile pressure on islanders already struggling to make ends meet.”

Oh where do you start with that statement from a Labour MSP.

First “eye-watering” compared to what ?

    HS2 costs.

Secondly she will get kudos for including one of the KEY words that they all love to associate with the SNP as in the word “Chaos”. (BBC loves that word too in relation to most things they link to the SNP)

Thirdly is there no “pressure” then on these same islanders via Brexit , some of whom have had their businesses negatively impacted by Brexit, which Labour as the new UK government have endorsed and pledged to continue with as a Tory policy.

Also are pensioners on the Islands not struggling with one (of many) of Labour recent bad decisions , as in the one on the Universal pensioners winter fuel allowance being cut, which as an approach by Labour, then reduced the block grant adjustment associated with devolution.

Where a reduction estimated at £140-£160 million in 2024-25, nearly 90% of the cost of the Scottish Government’s new replacement benefit, Pension Age Winter Heating Payment will be impacted.

Then of course some of those same islanders may also be negatively impacted by Labour retaining the Tories two child cap, so they too will “struggle” but then all that Labour MSP’s seem to focus upon and care about is trying to ‘get one over on the SNP’ in blaming them, the SNP, for everything.

I mean do Labour see themselves as the blameless party in the UK.

    It seems so.

So what about a Compare and contrast on all projects etc funded by different governments within the UK undertaken by the UK media as an investigation, especially the BBC, that will be a big fat NO then as they too are far too busy trying to ‘get one over on the SNP’ as well or so it seems (based on their content on their BBC website and their news programmes- and same goes for other media in Scotland also).

Like Kelticgirl says above, I too am at the point where it is “doing my head in” also, that is the way the media are spreading smears and accusations against the SNP constantly all so that they can try to get Labour elected in 2026.

Is that so that Labour can then try and destroy Scotland too, as well as them trying to destroy all of the other nations in the UK as well ? (with them, Labour, being in charge almost everywhere (bar NI) but not (really) being in control).

  4. The Police in Scotland have wasted a £Billion on Rangers fiasco, Alex Salmond trial and the campervan carry on. Then they complain about no funds.

They arrest before they investigate. Then charging. There should be cautions for mild misdemeanours. 2000 people on remand. A backlog of trials

Rail fares are really cheap just now. £40 return to Glasgow from Aberdeen. Less with a rail card

The Ferries will soon be running. Saving £Billions on fuel. After a relatively low investment.

    1. Yes it is a bad habit of mine Oops sorry.

I will need to stop it as I am sure most people know what words need emphasising without me adding so many , as in far too many , words in bold text.

You should hear me talking you would be bold to want to hear me again. Ha Ha

I will stop it as sure it must be both confusing and irritating to others trying to read it.

Hope that clears it up kinda.

In my defence I think it is a flaw in my – whatever ? Ha Ha
