In the Times today:

Health workers ‘driven out by SNP’s financial incompetence’ – The Scottish government has left the NHS under severe strain by budgeting for unrealistically low pay settlements, says Louise Gilmour of the GMB union

Not revealed, this:

What has the SNP Scottish Government settled on?

The Scottish Government’s pay settlement for NHS staff on Agenda for Change contracts for 2024-25 is a 5.5% pay increase, effective from April 1, 2024.

What has the Labour UK Government settled on?

The Labour government has agreed to a 5.5% pay increase for NHS staff in England, effective from April 1, 2024.

  1. The workers are clearly well served by Union Officials who have no axe to grind – except working to get themselves a wee Labour sinecure at Holyrood or Westminster .

”We’ll keep the red flag flying high …all the way to the House of Lords , hopefully !”

  2. £16Billion + social care. How much do they want. No Doctor’s strike. Nurses pay settlement.

Scottish revenues abused and misused by Westminster.

  3. This is exactly the type of information that is deliberately hidden by the media on those that they source their #SNPBAD material from.

If the public knew more background information on those who are given a platform by the media to mouth off against the Scottish government , then it might make some think that perhaps the opinion of this so called ‘critic’ was not an honest one, but instead they were being critical purely for political reasons only.

Mind you these GMB peeps have form mainly as they have an alliance with the Labour party.

Like much of the Labour media the GMB are also , as a Trade Union , one that supports Labour politically. (and they also support them financially).

So as far as this “critic” from the GMB Union declaring #SNPBAD in a newspaper like The Times well, she would say that wouldn’t she, as the clue is not only in that which is not revealed about her (that is she a member of Labour’s SEC) but also that information that reveals she is part of the GMB Union.

    The GMB do have form.

Think GMB Rep Gary Smith and the 2014 NO campaign.

Glasgow bin strike and GMB Rep and Anas Sarwar posing beside unemptied bins during COP26 to try and generate as much bad publicity for the Glasgow SNP council but also dragging in the Scottish government as those to blame also.

The GMB in Scotland are just spokespersons for the Labour party so they are yet another opposition ‘party’ against the SNP but officially their role is only supposed to be those who represent the workers.

    That is at times disputable.

  4. I would expect nothing less from our English media cousins but I doubt the 10 or so Times reader’s in Scotland will be voting for the SNP or any other Indy Party anyway. The only oddity is the Times editors seeking the views of a GMP official but I guess any SNP bad story is worth lowering their standards even further.

Yes this is odd in them, The Times, encroaching upon what is usually associated as being the Daily Record’s territory.

I guess though that they assume that every little bit helps towards what is a combined media anti SNP propaganda movement.

Scotland Tonight (last night) continued the favoured theme of many pro UK media in Scotland , that Scotland should always follow England in what they, England via their UK government, decide to do.

Last night they, Scotland Tonight, stated that the “UK’s Health Secretary has called on patients to help fix England’s NHS” .

Then Rona Dougall, the host, asked “Should Scotland do the same ?”.

So Scotland Tonight managed in this statement to get the public to:

Assume that the UK (English) Health Secretary was right to do this and also that it would work.

Infer that Scotland’s NHS was performing as badly as England’s so then also needed ‘fixing’.

Suggest our government should (always) follow England’s lead via their government’s decision and actions as if they, the UK (English) government knows best and are the more successful government within the UK.

(Even though in the past ,via another UK government , as in the Tory one, many a time their way as a government was found not to be the best way via their making bad decisions and many a time also taking the wrong action that resulted in negative consequences ).

How about Scotland Tonight, who promote that they supposdley provide news from a Scottish perspective , start to find areas where England’s government, also known as the UK government, start to follow our lead via our Scottish government on matters that have proven to be successful here and where they, England, are still lagging behind.

Let’s be honest no where is anyone within the UK media or UK political parties praising the reduction of knife crime in Scotland because of the way it is being dealt with here and then all suggesting that all over England they should follow Scotland’s lead on this.

Scotland has adopted, what is now seen to be a more successful way to deal with Knife crime, in taking a public health approach focusing more on prevention which sees different organisations, including the Scottish Police, working together with young people in communities.

God forbid any recognition be given to this by either the pro UK media or UK politicians who instead, for politically partisan reasons , and of course matters in relation to the constitution, prefer to suggest that England knows best.
