The first snows of winter only in Scotland – Why Scottish Labour’s shameless sitting on their hands during the Winter Fuel Allowance is such a betrayal

In the ‘Scottish’ Daily Express, yesterday, a link to the above map and:

Snow is forecast to fall over much of Scotland this week as temperatures take a tumble. And much of the country could be covered in a white blanket as polar air sweeps in from the north. Temperatures will take a tumble from Wednesday with weather maps turning an icy blue for 120 hours. The mercury will dip below freezing widely as things take a distinctly wintery turn.

Still months away from the real Scottish winter, we see the first signs of how different Scotland is from the southern parts of the UK and how important the Winter Fuel Allowance is for many here.

In a year or so, we’ll see the winter mortality data for all parts of the UK and it will be interesting to see if the media connect those directly with the removal of the allowance.

  1. It should NOT surprise Scots that the ENGLISH REGISTERED MPs (who claim to be a ‘scottish’ Party) inhabiting the Branch Offices IN Scotland of the NOTlabour Party, continue to betray Scotland and WE Sovereign Scots.

They’re a FOREIGN PARTY, Registered in England, whose loyalties are to the FOREIGN ENGLISH Westminster.

A FOREIGN ENGLISH Parliament who pass themselves off as a Parliament of the ‘uk’.

NEVER have they been thus, the ENGLISH Parliament merely changed the name to ‘uk’, retaining ENGLISH Laws, traditions .. everything.

There’s NEVER been anything ‘uk’ about ANY of it and NEVER WILL BE.

The NOTlabour shysters in the Branch Offices IN Scotland, together with their cohorts, tory/libdems/Reform, have, since their creation, cheated, lied to/betrayed Scotland and WE Sovereign Scots.

They always have and always will, their lies flowing so easily from their forked tongues.

Hopefully, one day their lies will catch up to them and they’ll be shunned by those they chose to betray!

They may well see it. But will they point it out? Properly, I mean, not the usual EssEmPee rubbish.

    1. Of course they will blame the SNP. Power to make the Winter Fuel Payment was transferred to the Scottish Government this year. However, no money came from the DWP to Scotland after Rachel (that’s a lovely handbag the bankers gave me )Reeves decided that it would be scrapped in England, and there was no ‘Barnett consequential money to the Scottish Government. Given that it has a fixed budget the Scottish Government would have had to take money for winter fuel allowance from other parts of a very stretched budget. So, it decided, reluctantly to remove WFA in Scotland.

And, of course the baleful Labour Party in Scotland erupted into hypocritical performative rage.

  3. Heating allowance in the £thousands. 3 child benefits. Food and drink subsidised. Free travel for the whole tribe. Based in the warmest part of the YUK. and loads and loads of Freebies, back-handers, concert tickets and trips abroad……………………………………….

DONT ROCK THE BOAT, IF YOU KNOW WHATS GOOD FOR YOU.

“Let the bodies pile high”, said a man not somehow in prison, and making his come-back appearance on the BEEB this afternoon, while his parties never ending Whacky Leadership Race between the Imperial Loopy-Dupes and “Born to Rule” Looney Right-Wingers trundles on.

This Britain now, yesteryear and forever. Get us out of it, quick.

  4. Scotland in surplus in fuel and energy, and nearer the source, pays more. Westminster Gov policies refuse to let energy companies charge less in Scotland. No parity. A burden on the whole Scottish economy.

Life expectancy is falling in the UK. Pensioners and others are being starved. The UK pension is far too low. The UK the most unequal place in the world. No cohesion or prosperity. Tax evasion, illegal war and financial fraud. Brexit.

Labour are finished, starving the old, the young and the vulnerable. Pensioners and their families vote. Labour have given £1.5Billion to the miners. They got payouts and pensions.

I made this point recently in a discussion over WFA to demonstrate the political as well as financial disconnect from other folks realities – Heat losses increase as the difference between inside and outside temperatures increases, and curiously average income levels do the exact opposite – The AVERAGE winter low for England is -3°, yet this varies from SE England at +2° whilst Shap is at -16° and Braemar is at -20°, the coldest on record being December 1995 in Altnaharra at -27.2°

So to keep your home at 21° inside, taking the much lauded well off SE England at an arbitrary energy consumption of 100 –

    • SE England 100
    • Average England 126
    • Shap 195
    • Braemar 215
    • Altnaharra 253

Who decides on dropping the WFA ? – Well off SE England on 100 because it would only go toward the holiday fund…

  6. Hell, or in this case, Scotland would freeze over before Anas Sarwar would ever dare to challenge his Labour UK party on this.

Labour in Scotland would never actually go against Labour UK decisions and policies, with the exception of part time rebels Richard Leonard and Alex Rowley, who both voted in the Scottish parliament with the SNP yesterday against a Labour UK government’s decision on winter fuel payments.

BBC website analysis by Kirsten Campbell ,a supposed ‘impartial’ political correspondent at BBC Scotland, stated in her obvious subjective BBC analysis that:

“A key point of this debate was to inflict maximum embarrassment on the Labour party”

And we just cannot have that can we Ms Campbell. I mean surely that is the job of both the BBC and opposition parties against the SNP, as the Scottish government. (apparently that is, based on their , BBC and opposition parties, combined relentless output against the SNP as a party and government).

She also wrote ” Privately some anti-poverty charities have expressed a wish that the Scottish government debate had focused more on policy than on party politicking

    Privately” ?

Yet publicly she, Kirsten Campbell, is writing about this on a public media platform on her BBC employers website in the Scottish Politics section ?

(So where’s the privacy in that then ?)

Also why is it only the SNP who are promoted as being the only party who always seek to either:

    Play poliitcs

Who are noted ,as a political party, as those who only ever speak or act against something only in order to embarrass an opposition party as opposed to them, the SNP, being genuinely opposed to it .

Are those who, as a party, are the only party often labelled by media in Scotland as being those who are “party politicking”.

She, Ms Campbell, then classifies the two Labour MSP rebels as being “well-known left-wingers” and also adds that “neither holds a front-bench position”.

Of course that statement by her, Ms Campbell, inadvertently clarifies to us the public that the rest of Labour (majority of them) in the Scottish parliament are then not to be considered “left wingers” .

(An own goal by Ms Campbell on behalf of the Labour party but also an inadvertent truth exposed as well).

    BBC political analysis ?

    No not (objective) political analysis.

Instead it is BBC Political propaganda formed and sourced via:

The SNP’s opponents opinions (that includes the BBC themselves).

Random tittle tattle via SNP opponents (that includes the BBC themselves).

The BBC paraphrasing instead of actually reporting the facts

A tsunami amount of FOI requests which are then exploited and presented as supposed Scottish political news via the various BBC news outlets in Scotland. (which are used to attack the Scottish government and also to reinforce the various political opponents arguments against the Scottish government ).

Then we also have the seemingly ongoing exhaustive search by the BBC who are desperate to source anything or anyone willing to “privately” or ‘publicly’ declare their opposition to (and arguments against) the Scottish government’s policies and governance, the SNP as a party and then in them being so willing to do this (often repeatedly) they surreptitiously confirm their own support for other political parties (and also very much their support for the UK remaining as a sustained and intact UK state).

That is the real bottom line made in all of the arguments and coverage by the BBC as a supposed media in Scotland

(Also evident in the BBC platforming opposition parties to the SNP more than the SNP themselves, the BBC also inviting the same ‘Experts” as guests onto the BBC Scotland news programmes to attack the Scottish government and then the random Vox pop interviews broadcast by the BBC here , where the majority of those members of the Scottish public that BBC roving reporters select, mainly appear to be those who are, as a public in Scotland, very much against the SNP).

BBC news in Scotland is very much where truth goes to die. (as a constant occurrence).
