Latest polling – Anas Sarwar manages to hang on to position as more popular than Douglas Ross but is now unpopular by nearly 2 to 1

From the latest Ipsos Scotland poll published today, we see that Anas Sarwar, Labour (Scotland) is significantly less popular than either the SNP leader or deputy leader.

Notably, after 10 weeks in power at Westminster, his spineless support for Starmer’s austerity cuts and despite BBC Scotland’s attempts to shield him from criticism, the electorate sees him and is turning away from him, becoming since the last poll almost twice as likely to be dissatisfied as satisfied with his performance:

So Scots don’t like him but do they think a Scottish Labour government would do better than the SNP?

On every count, a majority think a Scottish Labour government would do worse or no better.

Plenty of time to widen these gaps.

  1. I find the “no difference” quite troubling.

    1) many Scots don’t seem to understand the difference in situation between Scotland and rUK.

    2) many Scots don’t seem to understand how much worse it will be for almost everyone if any unionist party takes control of Scotland’s economy.

It all highlights the continuing influence of unionist MSM on the wider public in Scotland.

  2. As far as the Labour party is concerned he’s a political God, ready to take control of Scotland and last seen at the closing conference disco, boogieing on down on stage with Emily Thorburn where he was DJ for the night. He’s thought to be the best dancer in the party, a man who can stand with the great and the good but blends effortlessly in with the commoners too. That’s the Anas Sarwar the Labour party knows. Quite a difference from the one we see without the rose coloured lenses and the conference hysteria.

  3. I firmly believe, O.K, I’m an S.N.P member, that my party has did such a good job of governing Scotland over the last seventeen years, that a lot of Scots don’t realise who well off they actually are in their daily lives. If they had to live in one of the other U.K nations, I’m sure they would soon change their minds.

  4. When looking at Sarwar’s polling I am reminded of a scene from the movie The Dirty Dozen .

Lee Marvin is told by another officer that the Dirty Dozen , whom he is training , hate him more than the Germans . ”But ” says Marvin , ”the Germans haven’t done anything to them yet !”

That is Sarwar’s position in Scotland – he has NEVER had any responsibility nor had to make any decisions . If he is unpopular NOW , imagine if he was in power and being held to account for his Party’s unpopular actions :

taking away free Prescriptions , removing the Scottish Child Payment , charging for Uni tuition , increasing Council Tax , putting Jackie Baillie in charge of …anything
