Thanks to AR for alerting me to this.
In June 2024, BBC Wales reported:
In the Welsh government’s draft budget for 2024-25 it proposed cuts of £422m to areas outside the NHS and Transport for Wales, with ministers blaming a lack of funding from Westminster and inflation eroding the spending power of the funds available.
With 1.7 times the population, that would translate to £735 million in cuts in Scotland but, from BBC Scotland today the cuts are estimated to be only ‘over’ £500 million.
So, pro rata, per head, proportionally, Labour Wales is making almost 50% higher cuts – incompetence?
Sources:

Ah, but …. Scotland’s cuts are BAD cuts and though they might be less than the cuts in Wales they will be WORSER cuts because it is the SNP Scottish Government that is making them.
The Welsh Government is just reponding to Starmer’s BIG ASK in the interests of the country – i.e. Britain/England, with two union jacks neither of which include s any symbol of Wales.

Labour in Wales also announced cuts in 2023 , via Mark Drakeford as FM , and we all know who Labour UK blamed for that happening.
However the constant propaganda is that:
In Scotland – all blame is always directed at only the SNP and so that then must be accepted and believed by all.
However also the constant propaganda is that:
Elsewhere in the UK via Labour who govern in Wales and who now also govern in the UK – well apparently the rule is that all or any blame is only to be directed at their ,Labour’s, opponents, the Tories and the SNP.
But never are they , Labour themselves, to be seen as those that anyone should or could blame for anything while they, Labour, are any government within the UK. Be it the Welsh devolved government or the current UK government.
So who knew that apparently Labour, both as a party and as government(s), were so perfect , had no flaws, had no failures, made no mistakes in the past or present ?
Well only Labour apparently believe that (as in their own propaganda).
But wait , as it seems that the media in Scotland are also trying desperately to convince (Con) voters in Scotland that Labour are ‘perfect’ , while , like Labour, they the media here in Scotland are constantly blaming and demonising the SNP too !

I think the nonsense regarding Scotland’s finances was conceived long ago, the SG has proved beyond doubt it’s fiscal prudence and if that wasn’t enough it managed to mitigate much of the malice directed at the UK population through benefit cuts and the under funding of services. If that was allowed to continue, Labour would never ever get back n power at Holyrood. The SG/SNP stand for everything the Labour party doesn’t despite the rhetoric. It’s not just coincidental that the transfer of responsibility for delivering cold weather payments was already planned for this year and it’s not coincidental that Labour have already agreed a large increase in public sector pay both of which basically screws the SG/union settlements and puts at risk delivery of child payments, free prescriptions, free education and more.
Labour are prepared to cause harm to the UK population just to get rid of the SNP that much is clear.
However it’s also an opportunity for the SNP and the independence movement of they’re brave enough to tell reeves and starmer to get lost.

Well, Golfnut, you plainly didn’t catch the news item on Radio 4 that I was listening to in the car (until I realised that it was making me so angry that I felt physically sick and switched channel).
According to our caring, sharing WM leaders, those things you just mentioned are all demonstrations of SG’s incompetence. They should show some fiscal prudence by stopping them immediately. Then they’d have plenty of money.
And, presumably, a much smaller population to fritter it away on mindless frivolities. I mean to say, all those scroungers who think they ought to be able both heat and eat!

Sorry but this is what gets me about the current SNP incumbents . Presumably armed with this information you would think that Robson would welcome the opportunity to put this across when questioned about these cuts on Sky news today and the acusation of incompetence. But no all we got was just another case of ”sorry but….’. the same feeble defence that it seems is becoming the hallmark of SNP ministers when faced with the rigorous/hostile media accusations.
Sorry to be critical but I am not a fan of Robison to my mind she is in the same mould as Matheson who on most occasions I’ve seen was like a startled rabbit caught in the headlights.
When are they going to wise up and stop apologising which to my mind does not go down well with the public.
