I thought that Keir Starmer declared that Scotland was to be the  main  focus  for  UK  renewable energy?

By Anonymous

Keir Starmer tweeted a video on the 20 August with him and the (new) Welsh FM.

In it he said:

“I’m here looking at what a very important renewable project to discuss with the FM (of Wales as he was in Carmarthenshire) how we can work more closely together on the renewable projects of the Future to turbo charge the work we need to do on that energy transition”.

“For the first time here in Wales, we’ve got a WM government that wants to work with the Wales government to deliver for everybody across Wales. So a very important initiative on energy, but more broadly a very important political initiative to show that we are actually going to be jointly working to deliver for Wales”.

Well I am delighted for the Welsh people but also very confused as well.

As I thought that Labour and Keir Starmer declared that Scotland was to be the main focus for UK renewable energy via their new and supposedly great Labour initiative the GB Energy company.

However it seems that the (Scottish) location of GB Energy’s HQ’s has yet to be announced !

(How long have Labour now been in power as the UK Govt. ?)

After reading Keir Starmer’s above tweet it seems that , with his plans for Wales , one would be forgiven for assuming it was Wales who was to be the UK main focus for his UK government’s renewable energy plans and not as he formerly pledged prior to the UK GE that “Scotland will lead the UK’s clean energy revolution”.

So is Starmer now pledging that Wales will see more economic benefits from GB Energy renewable projects than Scotland (the same Scotland that will produce most of the UK’s renewable energy)?

The same GB Energy company, which, as a company, will not actually supply or produce energy (electricity) to households as it is really just a private sector investment vehicle .

(Or perhaps it is best described as yet another alternate PFI project via Labour).

Is there no end to Keir Starmer and his party’s duplicity .

That would be a NO then.

However , if more people were only to wake up in Scotland, why then would they not come to finally realise that why is it , yet again , that Scotland is once more to be used by the UK where prior to the UK GE Keir Starmer declared that :

“Scotland will lead the UK’s clean energy revolution”.

So why instead can ‘Scotland (as an independent country) not lead the clean energy revolution in Europe’ ?

Considering our , Scotland’s, renewable potential and capacity we could drastically cut our energy bills in Scotland and then our energy bills would be a fraction of what they are now with us being within the UK.

However clearly, yet again, it is the UK that prevents this and so it it them and their politicians who hold Scotland back from any real progress being made .

Which then prevents us, in Scotland , from living a far far better life and it also prevents us from being in a far far better financial position as citizens of what could be a truly independent and far wealthier country , as in Scotland.

But then Keir Starmer and Labour are more focused and interested in delivering for England and Wales it seems while pretending Scotland is getting the best deal within the UK .

In them , Labour, basing their supposed ‘HQ’ of their new so called GB Energy company here in Scotland ( an exaggerated version of a nameplate exercise only I suspect).

Something has to “Change” and I hope it is the minds of more (majority of) people in Scotland who will finally see the benefits of Scotland being independent and so free from lying UK politicians and their UK client media .

  1. Is there no end to Kier Starmer’s and his party’s duplicity? I fear not Prof. But I might be biased from reading “The Starmer Project” where it is suggested he might even go so far as to tell big porkies to get his way. Surely not?

  2. It is interesting that Mr Starmer is stating that for the FIRST time there is a government at Westminster that is working with the Welsh Government ….

The Welsh Senedd was established at the same time as the Scottish Parliament in 1997/98, by a LABOUR government. The people of Wales, as they have done on every occasion has, voted to give Labour half or more of all Senedd seats. So, Wales has had a Labour administration for the entire period, albeit, most recently with PC co-operation.

Is Mr Starmer stating (admitting?) that the governments of Messrs Blair and Brown did NOT work with the Welsh Government?

Given Blair’s dismissive jibe that the devolved administrations were no more than the equivalent of ‘parish councils’ and The Bodger’s authoritarian dirigisme, perhaps Mr Starmer is, indeed, telling the truth. Today, in his Downing St speech he was assuring us, repeatedly, that he is ‘levelling’ with us to restore trust in politics. I welcome such assurances.

Has anyone told Messrs Sarwar and Murray that they are supposed to work WITH the Scottish Government for the good of the people of Scotland? Perhaps, because, as a previous Labour leader in Scotland said, ‘that Scots are not genetically programmed to run things for themselves’, there is a basic flaw in the people who live in Scotland so that things have to be done TO them and FOR them, without seeking their views. This is compatible with Bodgerism.

  3. Like Wales , Scotland need only elect a Labour Government at Holyrood to realise the benefits of a GB Government working in tandem with them :

Energy prices will tumble , Milk and Honey will flow , Lions will lie down with Lambs , a new PFI scheme will remove all financial worries , Ian Murray will cure all ills by laying on hands , Anas Sarwar will still be irrelevant …..

  4. Starmer’s a liar and a conman and his party are conning the people, or rather were before the day of the election on July 4th, now, the sheeple are collateral and the LABCONS do not care about anyone but their donors, their dodgy pals abroad and themselves. I mean that’s so obvious, isn’t it, taking a few shiney beads to the natives in the colonies of Scotland and Wales.
    Sigh.

Spot on as that is exactly how it will be promoted by both Labour and their client media.

Where as the reality will be that Scotland will then be in the exact same mess as both Wales & England are , with us Scotland, now being governed (badly) by Labour.

However what we will also see in that nightmare scenario, is the pro UK media circling their wagons to try and protect Labour here in Scotland , as the new (pro UK) party who are now the new (hope not) Scottish government from 2026.

So , as per, the media will try to obscure how badly Labour are as the new (hope not) Scottish government in them, the media, promoting ‘that all is now well’ (as we have a pro UK party now governing in Scotland, Wales and also within the UK).

Then of course Sarwar as FM will do the exact same as his party leader/PM at WM has been doing just now (and also others at Labour HQ) .

Where Keir Starmer and Labour HQ are currently blaming the previous Tory government at WM for Labour not being able to implement/fulfil the supposed pledges and “Changes” that they, Labour, promised the UK public that they (we) would see with Labour as the next new UK government.

So Sarwar will just blame the SNP , and their supposed (but not) incompetence and also their supposed (but not) mismanagement as the previous government here in Scotland.

Used as an excuse by Sarwar for Labour failing in Scotland (like Labour HQ) to fulfil all of their pledges/promises and their so called “Changes” if we elect them, Labour, as our next new Scottish government in 2026 (hope not).

Of course behind the scenes (in plain sight of the same media both in and out of Scotland) our Scottish resources will be syphoned off even more than they already are to benefit everywhere but Scotland. (As will our Scottish produce as in food & drinks be used for Trade deals all under the banner of them being British produce).

Independence will also be , I fear , a seemingly lost cause and one that a Labour government in a British ‘one party state’ (with Labour governing in Wales, the UK & Scotland) will do everything in their power to try to prevent another Scottish independence referendum being either “allowed” or indeed ever happening (take your pick).

For Scotland a truly doomsday scenario and I am hoping not a scenario Scots (and also others who choose to live in Scotland) will willingly choose .

However I do wonder how many of my fellow Scots , and others living here, are still open to being fooled time and time again and yet never learning any lesson in them all making the exact same mistake they have made many many times before !

Yet in doing so seeing the exact same bad result “

Surely to God there will come a time when enough will be enough for them all !

    I do wonder.

  6. The pensioners, who are most likely to vote, are quite annoyed at UK Gov. People do not like UK Gov starving their mothers and young folk. Holyrood 2026 might be a bit of a backlash against Westminster Gov and unionists Parties. A higher turnout for Independence. It is quite feasible.

The ” But then Keir Starmer and Labour are more focused and interested in delivering for England and Wales it seems while pretending Scotland is getting the best deal within the UK ” should really have been ” But then Keir Starmer and HQ Labour are more focused and interested in delivering for England, whilst pretending Wales and Scotland will benefit “.

I can’t recall the figures, but Wales has been a net exporter of energy to England for some time, but with Wales being closer than Scotland it’s a cheaper proposition…

Energy bills will not fall in the UK, there is too much profit to be made including to HMG, who will continue to fight tooth and claw to prevent reduced consumption.

Yet when you look where the highest consumption per capita is, both for power and water, it’s in the wealthy south-east – They can’t get enough of the first despite continental imports and they’ll be out of the second well within 20 years…

I read a couple of years back that London is one of seven capital cities heading for disaster over scarce water supplies, IIRC Jo’burg was top of the list…. Rich lemmings…

  8. Wales is underfunded. Scotland is underfunded and has its revenues and resources taken from it to be abused and misused by Westminster totally incompetent, unionist politicians.

Starmer targeting the elderly and children. To compensate wasting revenues and resources on illegal war, Brexit and wasteful, useless projects. Wasting £Billions that could be better spent. Wasting on Trident, nuclear, redundant weaponry, Brexit, tax evasion. £Billions wasted that could be better spent.

Underfunding, Wales and Scotland to benefit the rest of the UK. London S/E. Wales proximity to London S/E. People can live in Wales and work in London. Especially with internet/home working. A long commute but still possible.

Wales voted for Brexit and lost £Billions of support. EU grants and loans of support. 3 million people. Lost CAP payments, nearest biggest market. Shared Defence costs. Westminster reneged on a renewable water project for Swansea. Lost investment.

  9. Scotland is the focus of renewable energy. £8Billion+ of it going south. Scotland in surplus in fuel and energy, and nearer the source, pays more because of Westminster unionist policy. No parity. Another burden on the Scottish economy. The energy companies wanted to charge Scotland less. Westminster unionist politicians refused to let them.

  11. Starmer , as the supposed official opposition leader prior to the UK GE, promoted that his party were the panacea to all of the wrongs that we , the public, all had to endure via the Tories when they, the Tories, were the UK government.

That now has proven to be false.

So all of the accusations made by Starmer against Sunak , when at the opposing despatch box in the HOC, were seemingly and unsurprisingly him, Starmer, just uttering more empty rhetoric.

Accusations such as Cronyism, not fixing the high energy bills for consumers, the poorest families not being helped, not stopping sewage in English waters via private water companies as some examples of some issues Starmer highlighted to Sunak that his Tory government were failing to improve or solve.

So since the recent UK GE what have Labour actually done or rather not done re the above issues that Keir Starmer said he would rectify if PM.

    Well :

Labour have indulged in their own version of cronyism with some of those who donated to them as a party gaining a reward from Labour for their donation.

High energy bills pre the GE are still high and are predicted to rise again later this year.

The poorest families still have to suffer via the two child cap being retained by Labour and as for poorer pensioners , who are not on benefits, so who may only have their state pension as their only source of income well they will now lose their winter fuel payment.

As to the sewage in English waters well seven days ago Feargal Sharkey,  a figurehead for the campaign to prevent private water companies dumping sewage into English rivers and waterways, said that “Labour had no real plan to fix this”.

He , Sharkey, has announced plans to lead a mass rally in London in October – the March for Clean Water – to mark the end of Labour’s first 100 days in power and put pressure on the Chancellor in the lead-up to the Budget.

So all of the things Keir Starmer said the Tories were failing at in them, the Tories, not solving or improving the many problems that existed , which Keir Starmer declared Labour would solve or improve.

Well it seems that was just , yet again Starmer making more of the same empty promises that he made when trying to become the leader of the Labour party , and then when he , Starmer, succeeded in becoming the new Labour leader, all of the pledges he formerly made in his leadership campaign were all dropped.

A pattern here ? Yes most definitely.

Anas Sarwar recently stated that it was “typical of the SNP to blame someone else” this was amidst his own party at WM blaming the previous Tory government for them, as the new UK government , being unable to deliver the supposed “Change” they promised in the GE campaign.

(Indeed Anas Sarwar is also playing the ‘Blame game‘ too on behalf of his WM party in him also blaming the Tories at WM. Which the media in many cases are happy to also play along too).

So how long will Keir Starmer, Anas Sarwar & Labour be allowed to continue to blame the Tory party for them, Labour, not bringing about the supposed “Change” that they promised we would all see with them, Labour, as the new UK government ?

When and where are all of the solutions, the quick fixes etc that Keir Starmer , when he was the official opposition leader, said that he and his party would and could rectify and reverse as actualities if they, Labour, were the UK government ?

Well the countdown has started on Labour’s performance, and also on their lack of performance in them failing, so far, to act promptly and appropriately on some matters they pledged to solve and reverse when and if in power.

Their current excuses will eventually, if not already doing so , begin to wear very very thin upon a public worn out and beyond tolerant of constant bad UK governments.

Watch this space come 2026 Scottish election.
