Despite lowest reported anti-semitism, only Scotland must be warned about it

BBC Website

On the Scottish Politics page

7th story “Big rise in antisemitic incidents in UK – charity”

Click on story and it comes up as part of the ‘UK’ page.

Go to UK page to see article and I cannot see this story as an article on there.

Story also not on UK politics page

Story also not on Welsh politics page.

So if the headline is “Big rise in antisemitic incidents in UK – charity” then why is this story only currently showing as a main article on the Scottish politics page ?

So I checked the content of this article to see where they noted these incidents were happening within the UK as assumed they had established a ‘Scottish’ connection.

The content of the article included only these places in the UK:

“Some 1,037 of the recorded antisemitic incidents were in Greater London

“411 in Barnet – the local authority home to the biggest Jewish community in the UK”

“The region with the second highest number of recorded antisemitic incidents was Greater Manchester with 268, followed by West Yorkshire with 115″.

Labour Home Secretary Yvette Cooper described the figures as “truly appalling”.

She added: “There is no place in Britain for this vile hatred and we are absolutely clear that those who push this poison – on the streets or online – must always face the full force of the law.”

Shadow Home Secretary James Cleverly said “”It can never be right British Jews could be concerned for their safety on the streets of modern Britain.”

The BBC article also noted this:

Across the UK, the CST recorded 121 incidents of assault in the first six months of the year, an increase of 41% in the same period last year”.

Strange this article should be showing on the Scottish Politics page as in the content not one Scottish city or town is mentioned as having a problem or incidents reported in respect to antisemitic occurrences.

And no this is not me assuming ‘Scottish exceptionalism’ this is me highlighting that this is an article on the BBC website , currently showing as the 7th article on the Scottish Politics page, that states there is a problem within the UK yet the only places within the UK that are mentioned with this problem are in England. Yet the article frames it as a UK wide problem. (as were recent riots also framed as UK wide)

We also see Yvette Cooper the Labour Home Secretary once again, as she did with the recent riots, refer to this as within “Britain” and Tory James Cleverly also referred to this as pertaining to “Britain”.

Who are the BBC employing within their social media department as currently they, like other media, seem to be blaming most of the recent rioting events in England as a case of some sharing misinformation via social media.

Yet they themselves, with this “antisemitic” story, are also trying to deceive us in framing this as a UK wide problem yet seemingly only displaying this article on the Scottish Politics page !

    1. But, they also keep ON the page articles which favours their editorial bias for far longer than the story is current.

For example the story about Michael Matheson was displayed for weeks. Pieces about the Scottish Tory Leadership contest have been on for several weeks.

      1. Actually Alasdair if you remember there was numerous different stories on Michael Mathieson that ran concurrently on their website on their Scottish page & Scottish politics page. (They have a habit of doing this via any stories assumed as negative connected to the SNP). Even after Michael Mathieson resigned they, the BBC, still had various stories (old and news ones) on the iPad story on their website. In fact they turned their negative attention onto the FM on this story.

Currently their pages seem to be stagnant as yes the Tory leadership contest in Scotland has been on their Scottish politics page for ages. (Their Scottish page and Politics page also remain stagnant when any negativity is circulating around the SNP and these particular stories stay on for far too long even when no longer current or relevant).

Like Bob ,in his comment above, I also think that in including non Scottish stories and too retaining the same stories on their Scottish page it keeps other stories off their Scottish pages. For example any good or positive news emanating from any action via the SNP or Scottish government is excluded from their pages as too is any current and relevant politically negative news relating to Labour in either Scotland or the UK.

How long were the Ferry stories (Plural) on their Scottish pages. Also how many different angles have they exploited on this subject in their covering of stories connected to Ferries in Scotland. To include travelling to an island to speak to residents who were critical of both the Ferries and the Scottish government via this.

However someone noted on social media how Elon Musk , current owner of ‘X’, is currently being framed as the baddie by the media just now.

Musk has been identified as another one who has tried to stir up Far right anger against Muslims.

He spread misinformation on the site he owns, ‘X’, and had to delete a fake tweet that he shared in respect to a conspiracy theory about the UK building detainment camps and he, Musk, also dared to disrespect the UK in calling it a Fascist state and he has also challenged Keir Starmer ( a big No No for some within the MSM).

Yet 4 months ago James Cook did an article on the BBC website on the Hate Crime Act where he noted that one of the prominent critics of this bill was none other than Elon Musk.

Cook ,in his article named Musk as a prominent person critical of this bill, where he, Cook, was treating Musk as a supposed respected and credible source whose only motivation for being against this Bill was him, Musk, seeking “Free speech” be allowed to thrive .

However now he, Musk, has proven to be someone seen as a less respected and esteemed example of someone to be trusted or believed or credible.

In fact he has now been seen to have exploited and abused his rights to Free speech as he has used it to spread misinformation.

The fact that this article on the Hate Crime Act was penned by Cook on April 1st is so appropriate as yet again a BBC employee has been shown to have ‘backed the wrong Horse’ (as in Elon Musk) in James Cook citing him, Musk, as an example in this article of someone worth listening to and siding with as a credible and reliable source .

I suspect James Cook was , at the time of writing his piece on the BBC website, fully aware of the spat between Humza Yousaf ,the then FM, and Musk hence Musk being included by James Cook as a prominent critic of the Scottish Parliament passing this bill. Though if you read anything in relation to this bill on the BBC website you would be forgiven for thinking it was, as an act passed, all done as an action by the SNP alone.

The BBC will never change so I guess we need to use examples of their bias to share with others , who are as yet unconvinced upon their, BBC, output being unreliable, partisan and heavily politicised in favour of any political party bar the SNP.

  1. There are 6,000 Jewish people in Scotland. 5,000 in Glasgow. 1,000 in Edinburgh. Hardly a massive problem. BBC absolute nonsense.

Can these ‘reporters’ not do a bit of research, or analyse statistics. One minute on the internet. Beyond belief. The MSM nonsense churned out. It is disgraceful in terms of context.

  2. There is no massive problem. Only illiterate, ignorant, arrogant, incompetent unionist politicians. They have not got a clue. Those who can do. Those who can’t join unionist political parties who cause all the problems. Consummate liars. Cause trouble everywhere, worldwide. Killing, maiming and destruction. Illegal wars, financial fraud, tax evasion. Attacking the young, the old, and the vulnerable. Making people sick.

A warmongering liar now PM. They have caused all the problem and troubles for the last 100 years. Since 1928 and before. Unionist politicians.

    1. They know perfectly well what’s what, they just don’t care. They are disaster capitalists, taking money from lobbyists, who influence and indeed probably steer LabCons’ policy in the GBUK and therefore in Scotland being as Scotland is mostly controlled by the EngGov and their dodgy pals.
Since Brexit, Covid mismanagement by the EngGov, and now a LabCons austerity on stilts government in power at Westminster, things…have only got worse and will only ‘get worse’…unless Scotland escapes the clutches of the so called ‘union’ which is as far from from equal as you could get.

  3. Reading the above comments it is one thing to complain about BBC and media bias but as far as I am aware little seems to be done about countering this by our politicians. We all acknowledge the BBC etc will not change without some concertive effort and clearly we cannot rely on other media outlets to do this for us. I have long since advocated for exposing this publicly in Holyrood as I suspect that many even minded Scots still look to the BBC etc for their input as opposed to what Unionist MP’s/MSP’s are saying so this demands urgent action. Given the level and persistant negativy spewing from the BBC Scots are never going to realise or appreciate what life is here compared to rUK. IF (as appears to be the case) our politicians are reluctant to expose them WE must do it ourselves.

    1. Strewth – ” …as far as I am aware little seems to be done about countering this by our politicians ” never appears to meet reality coming the other way, so answer me this Gerry, HOW ? Own their own radio or TV station or newspaper ? They can’t !

eg The infamous propaganda stunt by Nick Robinson to portray Salmond with no answer to his ‘clever’ question backfired badly because there were recordings of Alex’s fulsome response in circulation, and the memes and back to back comparisons came rolling in… It was a propaganda disaster for the BBC…

Salmond and various other politicians kicked up a stink about it but the media mafia effectively blanked it, and Robinson continues to earn an expensive crust to this day.

THAT is the reality you fail to acknowledge in your ” exposing this publicly in Holyrood ” – Do you seriously suggest the Tories, Labour, and ACH-hims would support such a discussion on an arrangement that they benefit from in the first place, or that it would be reported in the media in second ? – UK politics and media are corrupt to their core and interconnected, and I do not use the term lightly of a mafia – It is up to us to roast their feet on forums such as this and social media, THAT is is the only means available, but continues to enlighten…

    2. What can the SNP and others do though? Braodcasting is a reserved wpoer to Westminster, Scotalnd cannot air news etc via the normal channels, only EngGov controlled medai can do that. STV poses as Scottish, but it’s both unionist and anti SNP, and certainly biased. There are others trying to get the message out to counter and call out the lies that the Brit state puts out every single day in Scotland, but as money is short for such that has to be via Youtube and via blogs that many do not read or watch, it’s a losing battle.
There’s a reason why the EngBrit state will never allow Scotland broadcasting powers, propaganda works in EngGovs’ favour. Sigh.

  4. Broadcasts can be blasted in from anywhere on the internet. The internet can be used to call out politicians lies. People exchange views and information.

MSM is losing readership and viewers faster than a sieve loses water. No on believes it any more. 50%+ support Independence. Increasing all the time. People who support Independence need to get out to vote or stop voting unionist. A higher turnout. Or they will not get it.
