Scottish Defence League…naw, Group….naw Force sounds better!

https://powerbase.info/index.php/Scottish_Defence_League

In the Daily Record yesterday with no image of the members:

Violent riots across UK could be seen in Scotland as group announces planned protest. The Scottish Defence Group has also organised similar events in Aberdeen, East Kilbride, Glasgow and Greenock for this weekend.

When you search for the Scottish Defence Group, Google has a Monty Python moment and gives up quickly on them before suggesting the Scottish Defence League (above in Glasgow in 2009) and the Scottish Defence Force. There’s no People’s Defence League of Scotland or…….

Are they different or are they just changing their name after every AGM (Angry Guys Meeting)?

How many are there? Could they mount a respectable (wrong word, I know) riot?

The SDL does have a fair-sized webpage with lots of images of the lads in England tops defending Scotland but not clearly from that Proud Edward any more. The other two names don’t seem to have a page at all.

  1. And, unsurprisingly, the membership of such ‘groups’ are mainly supporters of the King’s Eleven, the Glorious Glasgow Rangers and the Daily Record is popularly known as The Daily Ranger.

    1. I think the flying of and draping of Union Jacks might give them away as to who and what they are really defending and it certainly is not Scotland that’s for sure.

No doubt should there be any trouble in Scotland by the usual suspects then they will be, as protests or riots, very much politicised by the usual sources in the media with the BBC at the forefront of the attacks .

If this does happen then I am sure the BBC will willingly give a platform to opposition politicians to vent against what they say is a clear lack of leadership , preparedness and decisive action by the FM and the Scottish government.

Starmer is saying rioters in England (also known as the UK) will “face the full force of the law” as opposed to just saying ‘they will face the force of the law’ and it seems that “Full force” represents these rioters facing lower jail sentences ( highest sentence so far for a rioter is 3 years) than some of the Just Stop oil protestors ( 5 year jail sentences) so I think we know who really faced the greater force of the law in England.

Media and politicians seem more concerned about the negative impact and consequences for some rioters in England for their future should they get jail sentences or a police record and also the media are asking “it is unfair to label all of the rioters as Far Right”. So what then are they rioting for ? Are their opinions on migrants who they call “Illegal immigrants” not the same as those who identify as the Far Right ?

However not that long ago Scottish independence supporters were being categorised as “Extremists” by the Tory PM Rishi Sunak . We who peacefully marched and campaigned in 2014 and now do the same for another warranted independence referendum.

So no consideration given or exceptionalism identified for us in Scotland in their UK via either the media or any UK governments that we , as independence supporters, choose to peacefully support and campaign for our independence as opposed to rioting to get our way.

No justice for us in the UK ever.

  2. Could these be the groups mentioned by Alex Cole-Hamilton in his report on the meeting with Police Scotland on Wednesday as “extremist groups based here in Scotland”?
