Why is BBC Scotland news editor James Cook ignoring Police Scotland alerts to another English-based drug gang operating here?

Two men have been sentenced for their part in a County Lines drugs operation between the North East of Scotland and the West Midlands.

Fleury Tsaty, aged 29, was jailed for three years and three months, at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Friday, 28 June, 2024. Wasem Sharif, aged 19, was issued an 18 month community payback order.

They were arrested in September 2022 following the execution of warrants at a number of addresses in the Seaton area of Aberdeen and in Birmingham.

Heroin, crack cocaine and herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of £18,500 were recovered along with various mobile phones and a three figure sum of cash.

This followed an intelligence led investigation into County Lines drug trafficking involving both cities. Officers were assisted by colleagues from West Midlands Police.

Detective Constable Robert Graham said: “Drugs cause misery in our communities and this sentencing underlines Police Scotland’s commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.

“We are working hard to ensure Scotland is a hostile environment for those who want to engage in criminal activity involving illegal substances.

“Investigations like this rely on the public and anyone with information or concerns about drugs within their community should contact Police Scotland on 101 or make a call anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Neither BBC Scotland nor BBC NE, Orkney & Shetland have covered this story. BBC Scotland have not covered County Lines gangs for more than three years since their one web-post in April 2021.

There have now been hundreds of Police Scotland, tabloid and social media reports of cheap drugs fuelling Scotland’s, extreme violence, people trafficking, child abuse and prostitution in council houses, across more than 50 Scottish towns, with vulnerable adults bullied by County Lines gangs members to allow it.

This can only be seen as an editorial decision by James Cook at BBC Scotland, to save the Union.
