Scottish haggis-eater, thus extremist, Robert Lamb https://x.com/54Lamb has perceptively tweeted:
Wes Streeting had just cut the feet from beneath Anas Sarwar by spiking his daily attacks on the SNP over NHS funding. When asked by Laura Kuenssberg over the state of the NHS in Labour run Wales, he blamed WM. LK asked why Sarwar blamed then the SNP in Scotland. He floundered.
It makes all the relative success in Scotland, compared to the third-world performance of the NHS in parts of England and Wales all the more remarkable, doesn’t it?
Success? What success? That guy on Question Time said things were worse in NHS Scotland.

“All roads do lead back to Westminster. Because even though this is devolved, decisions taken in Westminster have an impact on ……. across the whole country”
We could have a fine time filling the gap – replacing the ‘NHS’ in Mr Streeting’s quote – with lots of other devolved policy areas. And then we could itemise all the other spillovers from Westminster-determined UK-wide policies and actions on the labour market, migration, trade, fiscal and monetary policy matters etc.
By implication, the Labour Party view is that devolution can only satisfy the needs and wants of folk in Scotland and Wales if they hold the same political views – are making the same political choices in terms of governing party – as voters in England. Only then are we all – BY CHOICE- in it together, whatever ‘it’ is!

illegal wars, tax evasion and financial fraud. Westminster policies. Brexit losing £Billions. The cost of living going up. The standard of living going down.
Westminster funds NHS £125Billion. Not increased since 2015. Scotland funds SNHS £13Billion + social care. Mitigating Westminster cuts. Westminster funds war instead of saving people’s lives.
