New pollster’s Labour lead over SNP does not convince

There’s much excitement over the latest poll suggesting Labour are ahead of the SNP for Westminster and Holyrood.

It’s from Norstat for the Sunday Times. Norstat used to be Panelbase which has a long tradition of reporting smaller SNP leads. See these below and look at the leads, on either side of the purple blob representing Panelbase:

For more than a year now Panelbase, now Norstat, have been coming in well below the more established YouGov. They’re clearly sampling differently.

  1. Wishful thinking and the power of suggestion. The BritNat state will be relying on people who don’t look into details of what’s going on in Scotland and the political arena in Scotalnd and the Uk, and of course those new to Scotland. I met a young man from Ireland at an arty farty meeting last year, (I don’t do arty meetings anymore phew) politics came up, ‘we have to vote Labour’ he said, not with their terrible legacy in Scotland, no way, I said.

There are lots of people who may be CONNED by English Labour operating in Scotalnd and pretending they are a ‘Scottish’ party, but hopefully plenty who are wiser and see how Labour is just another con, but they need information about Labour Uk’s legacy in Scotland as well as their duplicity (lies) when it comes to Scotland right now.

Indeed….and to whose consistent benefit and to whose detriment do their polls determine who is, politically, (always) on the rise and who is once again losing support …..with outcomes that never seem to fluctuate that much in the results of their polling….that sounds credible….Not.

I note that an SNP activist is being reported as seeking to challenge John Swinney in the SNP leadership, as an SNP activist he has been reported as being “openly critical of the Scottish government”…..so he is not an SNP activist then is he ?……but in his criticism and too this reported challenge to the leadership he acts as if he is an anti SNP activist….and as he is not an MSP his challenge is merely a futile gesture which seeks to delay the smooth transition, in a UK GE year, from HY to JS as SNP leader as there is absolutely no way he, this SNP activist, will succeed…..thus all he is doing is giving even more ammunition to both the media and the opposition parties…..which then potentially could damage the SNP in the forthcoming GE ……thus as an SNP activist what is it that he assumes to, or rather hopes to achieve, in taking this action other than the last thing any SNP activist should or would want to happen….Labour potentially gaining (undeserved) seats over the SNP in the forthcoming GE.

The SNP members should never feel, when appropriate, that they cannot critique the party in matters, that they as members, feel strongly about…..but this action is, I think, one that goes way beyond that…..as it is being done, at what is a most inopportune moment, which will , unless he the SNP activist is hugely naïve, do even more damage during what should be a time when we all come together to get behind the SNP…..and not instead endeavour to feed even more fuel to the media and opposition’s fire that then gives them more opportunity to once again attack the SNP…..

This is obviously assuming of course that others , via the required amount, back his nomination, which would then put into doubt their involvement also as members of a party that they , as members, were seemingly willing and keen to bring down as ‘members’ of that party……confused I should bloody say so…..WTF next….

Alex ‘F*** You Maree’ Cole-Hamilton won the Lib Dem leadership uncontested as did Dross win the Tory leadership uncontested…..but oh no as per that somehow as an occurrence via the SNP is not ‘allowed‘ as it is then deemed by the snide media as a “Coronation” and thus “undemocratic” and too it seems also for some within the SNP it is seen as being unacceptable…….perhaps they , as SNP activists and members, should stop giving credibility to the media that this is a “continuity” election of a new leader…..and thus they and he, the SNP activist, wake up and start smelling the coffee…….or if they are really so opposed to the SNP as a party that they are a member of then leave it as a member and join another ‘party’ who will, I am sure, embrace and concur with their anti SNP actions and words….simples.

Getting pretty sick of a constant cycle of obstacles being placed to try and thwart the SNP from achieving unity at critical moments especially from those who , as SNP members/activists, should be able to read what is happening politically just now in Scotland….where a pro UK party, Labour, are being promoted and protected from a hostile and pro UK media who seek to oust the SNP, are trying to stop another independence vote from happening, hoping to secure a win for the Labour party in Scotland in this GE and too in any subsequent elections in Scotland….all to ensure their (non) Union is safe and no longer under threat from parties such as…….. the SNP…..alas some within the SNP party are also, it seems , doing their bit to help the media ensure this scenario comes to fruition as a hoped for scenario in Scotland …….

Ducking sick of it all TBH…….there is more than enough enemies outwith the SNP to then be expected to have to pander to the sniping and pointless gestures from those within the party as well…….who coincidentally ‘pick their moments’ to be at times most inopportune and yet one assumes, as timing, is one that they think will do the most damage to the party….well that to me is the antithesis of someone claiming to be an SNP activist……more like an anti SNP activist really !

    Next……or rather WTF next…….LOL

    2. As The Scotland Act 1998 requires The First Minister to be a member of the Scottish Parliament, in other words an MSP, either this guy is an actual “nutter” or completely delusional or indeed just anti SNP, whatever he is it is definitely not a First Minister of Scotland, either “devolved” or Independent, who the hell in the SNP membership would give him their backing, I know I certainly won’t….an activist maybe but more on the fringe side, living in his “Braveheart” world, not a modern Scotland looking toward it’s future as a rich Independent country operating successfully in the world, I have no time for these people, thankfully their aren’t many of them. My vote goes wholeheartedly to John Swinney!!!

        1. The news came out last night that this SNP activist has now withdrawn his challenge to John Swinney after a discussion with John Swinney.

That news came out just after 11pm….BBC website put this updated news on their Scottish Politics section of their website….where they also still had the older version of this news story on the challenge from this SNP activist on John Swinney.

(BTW this morning now that they have the updated news of this on their website under the headline “Swinney to become SNP leader after rival drops out”….“rival”…as in someone who is not a elected MSP and thus could never be elected as FM….hardly a “rival” then….they also have a headline via another story on John Swinney with a header “Who is John Swinney, the sole candidate for first minister” ?……the emphasis and focus they want their readers to see is in using the word “sole” which then endorses what other media are stating re this being is a “coronation” and not a democratic leadership election….could they, BBC, be more obvious…..yes they could and they are always with the SNP)

BBC news channel (231) still had the ‘old version’ of this story as one of their a rolling news headlines at the bottom of the screen that is that an “SNP activist to challenge John Swinney on leadership” at 1.52am this morning…..when they actually eventually changed it or deleted it I do not know….

Either they could not be bothered changing it…..or perhaps, as I suspect, they were only too happy to keep it as a rolling news headline as they often tend to do which is really another example of them promoting , as current news, an outdated thus as updated news on a story tis a fake version of that news story……get the latest news…but not on the BBC obviously…..to be fair their main news channel is not really for us in Scotland, apart from whenever they have the occasional #SNPBAD news…….tis more for another nation in the UK…..as in ‘news where they are’…..
