Two days ago:

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a fishing boat sank following a collision with a tanker in the Firth of Clyde. Three people were rescued by the coastguard after the crash, involving a tanker and a fishing vessel, between Ardrossan and Arran.

The incident happened at around 3pm on Thursday, April 25. The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB), which investigates marine accidents involving UK vessels worldwide and all vessels in UK territorial water, confirmed on Friday that it had launched a probe into the collision.

The MAIB also confirmed that the two ships involved were the Greek-registered crude oil tanker Apache and the British-registered fishing vessel Serinah. The investigation is currently at the preliminary assessment stage.

All of the locals have the story but try searching for BBC or STV and any of the keywords – Serina fishing boat collision sinking Clyde’ – and get:

Take out the BBC or STV in the search and get the locals again.

Isn’t this a big story?

Have the Scottish MSM an aversion to reporting this kind of story?

The MT Antares was dragged down by the RN submarine, HMS Trenchant on 22nd November 1990 at 2pm with the loss of all four crew.

Try searching for BBC coverage of this tragedy. I could find nothing but did find this:

Trawler ‘may have snagged submarine’

In 2015, BBC Scotland suggest that the trawler skipper of the Aquarius is somehow to blame for fishing in the Clyde when a sub is not deep enough to avoid his nets.

  1. There is a report of this incident on the Glasgow and West of Scotland page. It is fairly low down on the page and fairly low key in tone.

It does, however, report that the Calmac ferry ‘Arran’ responded to the mayday call and adds (my emphasis) THIS RESULTED IN DELAYS TO FERRY SERVICES.
