Lorry driver ignores bridge weight limit, who you gonna blame? BBC Scotland ask ‘Did the Scottish Government build the bridge?’

Lorry damage puts CalMac ferry out of action

BBC Scotland note:

CalMac told ferry users the damage was caused by “large commercial vehicles” whose weight exceeds the ramp’s design load, but it has been unable to identify which lorries were to blame.

Who’s to blame, children? Yes, the lying lorry driver and the lorry owners.

What do BBC Scotland suggest instead?

Cumbrae Ferry Users Group held a public meeting to discuss the ferry problems on Tuesday, attended by 130 people – about 10% of the island’s population.

Frustration was directed at CalMac, the Scottish government and North Ayrshire Council.

The group wants a review of the management of Loch Shira after both ramps failed just two months after a major overhaul.

So:

  1. Even the Scottish Government is to blame for the overloaded lorry?
  2. The ramps need to be able to bear any weight at all?
  3. CFUG need to go factfinding to the Isle of Wight, New Zealand, Greece or Ontario, to get a feel for a real ferry FU?

  2. Just wow, this needs massive investigation…who are the company that contarcted the drivers? Who were the drivers and why did they not abide by safety rules of the road and their jobs? That’s depending on who the employers are of course.
    if that lorry is for real, it looks utterly unsafe for the road, questions need to be asked about safety of other road and bridge users, serious questions…nevermind the BritNats’ attempting to lay the blame on the Scottish government.

    The company involved should be foced to pay for rebuildinmg of the bridge and nay diversions required meanwhile. Makes you wonder if it was wholly an accident…either way it’s completly unacceptable. All lorries should have to have a company name on them that should be standard practice, oh wait, we are forced to live in England’s Brexit north Britain, where rules and standards no longer apply, ach, silly me.

The lorry driver should be investigated by the police and the outcome is likely to be loss of his hgv license.The lorry company should be investigated by the police and the lorry examined for road worthiness and weight and safety of load.The lorry company should have insurance that covers the cost of accidents and if the signage for the bridge load bearing is where it should be you would think that only they and the driver can be held responsible for this debacle , if that is the outcome of investigations the insurance should pay for repairs to the bridge.In a normal world.BUT in Scotland where you have the politically motivated tory BBC you do not get normality you get a warped reporting culture that continuously ignores facts and presents the public with fiction consisting mostly of lies.
