Chickens uncaged but your news still trapped in one

By Professor John Robertson

BBC Scotland’s website above still milking the non-story of an attention-seeking celeb and serial whinger about anything the SNP might do to better the circumstances of the rest of us.

This morning, BBC UK had an extended piece on Scotland becoming the first part of the UK to ban the caging of laying hens. As you would hope they let the Scottish Government minister have some credit for the actions.

Minutes later BBC Reporting Scotland managed to push the story back, behind a tale of a flooded cemetery in Ayr without telling us the council responsible is Tory, before dropping the birds altogether for later broadcasts.

Unlike the BBC UK report, BBC Scotland managed to forget to ask the Scottish Government minister about it, in sharp contrast to their insistence that supposedly infected pigeons at a Glasgow hospital, in 2019, were the direct responsibility of an SNP Health Secretary.

At the bottom of the online version but unlikely to get a mention in broadcasts:

Mark Borthwick, World Animal Protection policy manager, welcomed the news and said: “We’re pleased to see Scotland leading the way in consulting on the ban of cages for laying hens which are still in use in the UK.

  1. I expect a BBC Scotland story about an egg producer who keeps chickens in cages in a bedroom of his tenement flat in Govan Road, opposite the QEUH, complaining that the Scottish Government has destroyed his business because the chickens are required to have space to move around, and, as he is on the third floor he cannot get his chickens down to the backcourt and back up three flights of stairs at night.

    1. Whenever J K Rowling propels herself into the spotlight, you can be sure she has some product to flog. New novel? Themed merchandise? West End musical? It won’t be long till we find out.

  2. Chickens are usually kept in barns. Too many in barns. Bird flu meant they had to be kept indoors. They still qualify as free ranch. Although eating baby hens is not to everyone’s taste. Plenty other growing produces to sustain human life without devouring other creatures. Paying a bit more keeps the chickens happy. Happy chicks and chips. Egg and chips.

  3. Must say as prisoners of this odious Union we will surely have great sympathy for our caged friends but sorry given past experience I would not get too optimistic this chicken cage ban will see the light of day (no pun intended). I am pretty confident Westminster will look to block this legislation as impinges on the rights of chickens in rUK and especially as no chicken referendum has taken place they have no democratic mandate to join their rightful place as free chickens across the globe.

    And so it begins….

Complaints received by Police on a 4 year old speech made by Humza Yousaf….which some media sources say , as comments, are being misrepresented by the complainers….obvs.

So are we really saying…those who are up in arms against the Hate Crime Act…now seeing a way to try and scupper it….by they themselves using it against those they consistently oppose…..irony or hypocritical….or both.

How petty and vindictive some people really are…..though one hopes this does the opposite in proving that those who are being complained about….are as complaints being sourced from those who oppose anything and everything that has any connection to the SNP and indeed our FM.

There is low then there is ……the bottom…the gutter….where some are happy to inhabit to try and get one over on the SNP (though they are also getting one over on other parties too at Holyrood also…who also voted for this ‘Act’ in passing it.

    1. There were complaints when Mr Yousaf made the speech and I believe police looked into it at the time but took it no further.

Don’t think anything was done about this though

      1. Good spot….Legerwood…and yes where was the backlash/complaints via his, Sarwar’s, statement in parliament ?

Ah BUT….see….it comes down to depending which party leader is saying…

        “White….and why” ? (quoting Sarwar)….

Sarwar is under the protection of the MSM…..

His media bodyguards will ensure no political harm comes to him….but honestly for truth (I’m delirious obvs)…why should the FM get all of the flak when he, Sarwar, has reiterated the same, in highlighting high profile positions being…..white !

Plus I have yet to hear on telly anyone attribute any other political party other than the SNP to be connected to the new Hate Crime & Public (Scotland) Order Act as yet….it would seem to those who oppose it that it was somehow forced through, as an Act, by the Scottish government alone…..indeed is either Labour or the Lib Dems in Scotland coming out to defend and support it….or are they under cover and leaving the SNP to face the frenzy thus giving the impression their respective parties had no involvement in helping it pass through parliament….in order to try and seek a political advantage over the SNP in the up and coming GE……to include no doorstepping by the media to get their ‘opposition say’ input (after all whenever tis a #SNPBAD moment they, as opposition MSP’s, are always easy to locate and ever so willing to stick the political boot into the SNP on the news where we (supposedly) are…are they NOT)

So many darn sarf….who do not live here…seem to be making it up as they go along….par for the course…..I suppose.

It’s beyond farcical…..baby boxes, minimum price of alcohol increase, gender Recognition bill, Bottle return Scheme….all opposed by the same ones who are currently up in arms about this current ‘Act’…..almost as if no matter what is suggested or introduced then they , as serial objectors, will oppose anything that is coming out of the Scottish parliament as a bill or Act…..all for the sake it….as in the opposing of it ….for reasons all too obvious….and pathetic.

        Have a nice evening Legerwood
