From Public Health Scotland today, for Month Ending 29 February 2024 (the latest data), we can see that only 2% of the 24 268 planned operations, as referrals increased, up 12.7% on the previous year, were cancelled due to Non-Clinical / Capacity reasons such as staff absence or a surge in demand due to, perhaps, a major accident in the area.

There other 3% were cancelled, justifiably, where either the doctor or the patient decided against it, often at the last minute and thus too late for the rescheduling of another patient.

98% efficiency in large organisation like NHS Scotland is, frankly, f*****g marvellous!
