South Uist islanders refuse ‘offer’ of HMS Prince of Wales as replacement ferry

From the Daily Mail today:

The future of Britain’s second aircraft carrier is under threat due to funding issues, naval sources have claimed. Senior figures have spoken out after it emerged next week’s Budget will not include any significant rise in defence spending. They fear HMS Prince of Wales, which cost £3.5billion to build, could be mothballed or sold for a knockdown price to a friendly nation, over the fleet’s flagship HMS Queen Elizabeth.

In a shock move Lord Marmaduke Pocklington-Henry, community councillor for South Uist, has demanded that the SNP Government put in an offer for the aircraft carrier before ‘those bloody Nats’ turn Scotland into an unfriendly nation and it gets sold to Ireland.

However, our International Ferry Correspondent, Professor John ‘Cabin Boy’ Robertson has contacted locals and all three are opposed to the plan saying they don’t want their cars helicoptered onto and off a deck every time they want to go to Oban.

The Scottish Government have offered to build South Uist their own dedicated bloody ferries if the UK Government will give them the aircraft carrier sale proceeds.

  1. the inbuilt vibration due to Portsmouth engineers misalignment the propulsion train should tie in neatly with the good old days when you knew the local ferry was about to leave harbour. the ships internal lifts could easily be used to get cattle to the top decks once a side ramp was fitted to the carrier.

    a true carrier….. at last

    1. I am unfortunately reminded of the old joke which however does seem appropriate!

  2. 🤣

I imagine the principal activist on S.Uist who has such influence on Scotland’s media reporting will be doing a Q.Victoria over a G&T, “we are not amused…”

  3. ‘Cabin Boy’ Robertson…..LOL

Are you considered an ‘Errand Cabin boy’ or an ‘Errant Cabin boy’……..

Mind you to potentially mothball (sink) £3.5 billion is a mere ‘drop in the ocean‘ (seemingly) compared to the Scottish ‘Operation Ferry Fiasco’ in Scotland (apparently) ?….according to the BBC aka currently the Boat Broadcasting Corporation who are desperate to make some ‘Headway‘ in their #SNPBADFERRIES soap opera in the ‘news where we are’ (NOT)……..and apparently, if you are the UK government, you need to ‘push the boat out’ and not scrimp (no relation to shrimp) on the money when building aircraft carriers…..I’m sure their other aircraft carrier HMS Elizabeth will ‘tide them over’…..oh but wait…has that not also experienced ‘trouble at Sea‘……which kind of leaves the Royal Navy in a position of being ‘all at Sea‘….or rather unable (via their aircraft carriers) to be all at Sea…..

I suspect BBC Scotland will not Propel this story to the top of their current obsession with all things nautical……indeed I have a sinking feeling it may be ignored and the command will be ‘Avast‘ should anyone try to ‘rock the boat‘ in suggesting it could be headlined in the ‘news where we are'(NOT) and thus they and their #TORYBAD aircraft carrier (real) fiasco story suggestion will find them, going forward, having to continue to ‘Toe the line‘…..and ‘Pipe down’ (another nautical term but which also means dismiss someone from duty)…which is what would happen if they begin to ‘veer off course’ and start to want to introduce anything other than #SNPBAD stories at BBC Scotland in their ‘news’ items ………which could actually then ‘land them in hot water’ ……

Really is ‘Time someone took the wind out of their sails‘…both the BBC and Tory UK government….as both of them via their combined #SNPBAD propaganda have been ‘sailing (very) close to the wind’ as far as their accusations disguised as truth was and is concerned upon the SNP , Scottish government and too very much Nicola Sturgeon (though others are also very much guilty via this too so ‘me timber is never shivered by them either’ )…..time both of them 9and some others also) were docked (in more ways than one)….

  5. Quick question – Is ” Lord Marmaduke Pocklington-Henry, community councillor for South Uist ” really really, really, truly not Grant Shapps latest and basest creation ?
