Labour Civil War as ‘Scottish’ Labour vote for SNP motion on Gaza ceasefire

Above, in November 2023, a pretty clear indication of how the two Scottish Labour MPs, Murray and Shanks, will vote on an SNP motion in the House of Commons next week.

Below, today, this bizarre BBC Scotland report:

Were Murray and Shanks there? Did they support this motion, essentially the same as the SNP motion in the House of Commons next week?

Murray and Shanks? You know, these two:

In the BBC Scotland report, only this one mention of these two:

The SNP is urging Mr Sarwar to whip Michael Shanks and Ian Murray to side with them in a new motion.

Sarwar can’t whip his MPs in London. I’m guessing the SNP are just having a laugh with that. Only the UK Labour Whip, Sir Alan Campbell, MP for Tynemouth in England, can do that and Sir Keir Starmer is not going to let him do that is he?

Isn’t this going to be a ‘Labour Civil War‘ BBC Scotland?

Isn’t this difference between Sarwar and Starmer over the words ‘immediate‘ and ‘ceasefire‘ more than just ‘semantics‘ Anas?

Will BBC Scotland’s James Cook, stop drooling over an imagined Labour victory in Scotland and ask Sarwar some decent questions?

  1. Two days ago the London Evening Standard had a headline that Anas Sarwar was quoted as stating :

    “ Starmer & I want an immediate end to Gaza violence”…..immediate ?????

Well that’s a lie because Keir Starmer has only called for a ‘Sustainable’ ceasefire and not an “immediate’ ceasefire or even just a “ceasefire”……

Anas Sarwar must have been thinking of Humza Yousaf as the only party leader in the UK who has called for just a (immediate) ceasefire to Israel’s destruction of Gaza and too the innocent people being killed there. (Sunak and Starmer use “Sustainable Ceasefire” and Ed Davey states there should be a “Bilateral ceasefire”).

Perhaps someone needs to tell Anas Sarwar that the recent public opposition and public protests targeted at the Labour party and Keir Starmer in respect to Gaza were because he, Keir Starmer, had failed to call for an immediate ceasefire or just a ceasefire , that is, he, Keir Starmer, had just repeated (duplicated) Rishi Sunak’s words ……..Anas Sarwar is embarrassing himself here in resorting to lying……however that seems to be how he thinks he can con voters in Scotland to vote for Keir Starmer’s New New Labour party at the next UK GE…..

Irrespective of how Labour in Scotland ‘vote’ at their conference on anything, including Gaza, at the end of the day it is HQ who dictate the narrative and policy of and for their UK and not the branch office……as in the same HQ that Anas Sarwar is currently campaigning for in the next GE.

  2. It’s all about CONNING people in Scotland, I’ve said it before, especially aimed at those new to Scotland. Those who did not know LabourUKnotOK when they were in power in Scotland at Holyrood for ten years, those who did not live in Scotland when they ran Glasgow city council for SEVENTY years, taking women workers to court to deny them equal pay(!) and even when the UkEng Gov were Labour, their Mr.Brown wrecked the economy and Blair (Bliar)took us into an illegal ‘war’ etc.

Notice the wording, as well, ‘Scottish Labour’ when they are pretending to support the SNP calls for a ceasefire, but when they rejected it outright, it was ‘Scottish Labour MP’s’. The wording is designed to make it look for those with little if any knowledge of the fact there are just TWO ‘SCOTTISH’ LABOUR MP’s, as if the Labour UK party in Scotland has any gravity in terms of decision making, it’s almost as if they are autonomous, and as far as the ‘media’ is concerned they are.

This type of CON works on some people, who have no clue about how LabourUK in Scotland spent TEN whole years at Holyrood and not only did they not do anything whatsoever good for Scotland, they sent £billions back to Westminster saying ‘NOTHING to spend it on in Scotland’, plunged Scotland’s councils into £BILLIONS of debt with their PFI scheme, (scam) and that ‘debt’ is still having to be paid off now, for the next what, decade+? SNP MP’s and MSP’s need to make sure the people know what LABOUR did and did not do for Scotland, their legacy is absolutely atrocious, they ruined lives, they denied my sons special needs support, with consequences of lifelong effects. NEVER trust Labour, they are almost worse than Tories because they LIE and CON people who know no better! Sorry end of rant.
Happy Sunday everyone! Enjoy the sunshine. 🙂

    1. New New Labour are actually worse than the bastard Tories, at least in Scotland we all know that the Tories ARE Tories whereas Labour…….well what the f*** are they? “I wanna be elected”………(Alice Cooper, if you are wondering).

  3. It’s the dying days of Empire when HMG and it’s Opposition 🤣 are united with their attendant media in blanking public opinion that what is happening in Gaza is plainly WRONG, and attempting via ever channel to change the public’s mind – Heads up, it hasn’t worked.

Never more glaring is the purported Scots perspecive when HMS James Cook’s “What the papers say” spiel headlines “Scotland’s papers: Migrant pressure and ‘neglected’ Scottish roads”, as ever the ‘Look, a squirrel’ specialist when the ‘establishment’ view is under threat.

Did you see anything in the BBC Scotland report which reflected the fury of most of the UK and it’s MPs, or a hefty %age of Scots ? Nope….

Paul Hastie’s article https://archive.ph/Nscbc contains this frankly obtuse comment over public v political perceptions as “Mr Sarwar previously told BBC Radio’s Good Morning Scotland programme: “I don’t think there’s as much distance in this as people now believe” – Just think about that total bullshit for a second before considering GMS’s less than illustrious history as champion of journalism…

As Paul Hastie’s pastiche moves on, he doesn’t even bother to analyse the numbers on the two English by-elections which demonstrates Labour in stasis, he merely trots out ” The Scottish Labour motion follows a double by-election win for the party in England this week – despite a recent antisemitism row over parliamentary candidates” – Think about that total bullshit for another second.

There will never be a “Labour civil war” reported by HMS James Cook, right up to the the point the last helicopter evacuates personnel from Pacific Quay, and 30 round trips by Chinooks save James’s suit collection from almost certain usefulness…

  4. The reason Sir Keir Starmer & the Labour party at HQ do not want call for just a (immediate) ceasefire (without always instead having to add a prefix prior to the word ‘ceasefire) is that it appears they do not want to ‘Bite (one of the many) Hand(s) that feeds them’ (funds them)….

Last year in June it was reported that “The UK Labour Party’s latest corporate mega-donor is a pro-Israel businessman whose company profited from South African apartheid” where in a report in The Financial Times which stated that “their new megadonor. a multimillionaire , donated £5 million ($6.29m) to become the party’s biggest donor and one of the biggest political donors in Britain. It is claimed that Starmer is now filling the gap in Labour’s finances with the support of wealthy business donors , when Labour had been plunged into a financial crisis, largely as a result of its purge of left-wing members. It has reportedly lost around 200,000 members since Jeremy Corbyn was leader, costing the party more than $10.5m in lost membership fees”.

    Plus Declassified UK reported that:

“In November 2023 it was reported that MORE than 40 per cent of Sir Keir Starmer’s cabinet has been funded by pro-Israel groups, a new report revealed today. Donations have been received by Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, his deputy Angela Rayner, shadow foreign secretary David Lammy, and shadow international development minister Lisa Nandy”.

    Plus

“More than half of the cabinet are listed as supporters or officers of Labour Friends of Israel (LFI)” where LFI had donated £50,000 to Sir Keir’s 2020 leadership bid, and a total of £200,000 to the shadow cabinet….plus Shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves received some £17,000 to travel to Israel”

Well now we know why Sir Keir has been reticent to vehemently condemn the Israel government , the IDF and too all of the destruction that is happening with thousands dying in Gaza and thus why he has not demanded a ceasefire NOW !

Follow the money ( see also Mr Wes Streeting Shadow Health Secretary aka Mr ‘Hold the door wide open’  to the NHS for the private sector) which was a declaration made by him that was, I assume, made largely because of the large donations to both him, Keir Starmer and other Labour party MP’s by a Private Health Care company…..so who else, as a Private business/corporation has donated to them as a political party and also as the next assumed UK government ?

Labour Heartlands online reported last year that :

“Sir Keir Starmer, the Leader of the Opposition and a prospective Prime Minister, has found himself enriched by the tune of £157,500.00 from donors associated with the private healthcare sector. Yvette Cooper, the Shadow Home Secretary, boasts an even more substantial sum of £295,205.00. Meanwhile, Labour’s Dan Jarvis, juggling his role as the Mayor of South Yorkshire, has managed to secure a handsome £137,500.00 in donations from the private health industry. As for the Shadow Secretary of State for Health, the individual who would be entrusted with overseeing the NHS under a Labour government, his pockets have been lined with an impressive £193,725.00 in contributions”.

Yet we had Jackie Baillie at the latest Labour in Scotland party conference state in her speech “And so just as we are the Party who created the NHS; it’s our job now to save it”…..

Would ‘Saving’ the NHS be with the help of donations from PRIVATE HEALTHCARE companies and thus contracts and more involvement being awarded to the private sector within the NHS ??? ( as in a return for the money donated to your party Jackie)……

Can Jackie also help her Labour colleagues in Wales , her speech declared that Labour have ALL of the solutions and answers to ‘save’ the NHS….. but via some media reports upon the Labour Welsh government I believe there are problems, and even a crisis within some areas of their NHS, that they seem unable to address or solve e.g. long waiting lists, recruitment and retention, sickness absence and a heavy reliance on temporary staff and other issues that Jackie says she sees as failures in Scotland via the SNP….so since she states that both she and her party (not Labour Wales though obvs) has ALL of the answers….she should travel to Wales and impart her wisdom to her Labour colleagues there re the NHS…

I counted that the word “Change” was said by Jackie Baillie 17 times in her speech which I found online……less than Sarwar (he said Change 60 times in his speech) but still enough mentions to prove it is a just a cheap vapid campaign slogan created by someone behind the scenes in their Campaign team ?…..

I certainly will not “Change” my mind on the Labour party….still a NO for me on ever voting for them in any election…..simples.
