In their own latest poll with Ipsos MORI, the strong SNP lead of 9 points is down from 14 in their November 2023 poll but it’s up significantly from the two 5 point leads in the other two polls in 2024.
Similarly, the 6 point lead for Yes in the same poll is down from 8% in November 2023 but it’s up on 5 other polls in between.
It’s all about choices and STV is choosing a world.

So…….according to this poll…….the Scottish public trust red Tory Labour with the NHS….is this the same party that want to privatise it?
The mind boggles!!!
There is only one party in Scotland that can defeat this dangerous party……..The SNP…….do not be blindsided into supporting Sarwar Tory policies that will sink Scotland into their westmonster abyss!!!

Hmm. I have an aquaintence who is a lovely young woman from the US, studied in Scotland to post grad level, (paid to do so as a foreign student) lives and works here and wants to stay in Scotland. 🙂 She was scathing of the SNP, and slightly praising Liebour, quoting the Labour MSP she spoke to at an event re her work at Holyrood, as saying something akin to, ‘ah the SNP taking votes for granted’. She blames the SNP for ‘removing funding from Universities’.
Spent a couple hours discussing things re Uk and Scotland and politics, a wonderful and intelligent young woman, though perhaps believing Labour are worthy of her praise and poss vote, though not sure. Said too many in the SNP are ‘nationalists’. Hmm. She also has lots of friends in Edinburgh, from around the globe, many who want to stay in Scotland!
She does however seem keenish on Scottish independence when it comes to things like immigration. She 100% needs her employer to sponser her for a work visa, in order to stay in Scotland. We discussed that Scotland has free prescriptions and uni tuition etc, and not wrecking the Scottish NHS so it’s not all negative re the SNP.
I have sent her lots of links to info, films, independence sites and to Broadcasting Scotland and TUS.
Scotland really needs control over immigration, the process is slow, costly, very restrictive and not fit for a forward looking, internationalist, independent country. Also I know very little about it so really interesting to hear about the UKEngGov process, which apparently is about to be made even more difficult for those wishing to study and/or make their home in Scotland.
Scotland needs skilled people, but with the restrictions imposed and further restrictions planned, EngGovs’ immigration powers are damaging to Scotland on so many levels. Add to that EngGovs’ budget cuts causing the ScotGov to make hard decisions about what can be funded, like university research (much of which re EU research funding, has been removed anyway because of Brexit) etc.
Independence is crucial, but we all know that here at TUS, question is, how can those who are sceptical, be more informed about the pros of moving forward into the 21st century, for Scotland, where Scotland gets the government they vote for and makes decisions in the best interests of their own country, instead of having
crucial and detrimental decisions made for them, by the country next door.
Ok that’s my political work done for the day, I think! 🙂

STV News is now fast becoming a tribute act to BBC Reporting Scotland.
If anyone watches either of these ‘news’ programmes they would be forgiven for assuming that the SNP as the Scottish government have done nothing significant or beneficial for Scotland…..but at the same time this audience would be more than aware of the opinions of members of the opposition parties in respect to their accusations and criticisms against the SNP as the Scottish government…..and too the carefully chosen select few who are always invited on to reiterate the same #SNPBAD upon a multitude of issues/matters and where there is absolutely no revelation as to who these individuals support politically……but one guess is that it is certainly not the SNP…..that’s for sure !…..so the SNP gets a double whammy from opposition MP’s negativity and too disgruntled and very vocal guests who also happen to seem to be also very anti SNP/Scottish government ……..triple whammy even if you include the so called exact same ‘Experts’ or ‘business owners’ also invited to opine negatively upon the SNP/Scottish government and whose political allegiance and constitutional position are also not revealed to the viewers at home….for reasons all too obvious…..Prof Hugh Pennington, Robert Kilgour, Donald MacLeod (all are also regular guests on GB News & Talk TV as guests that these rogue channels give a platform to just to slag off NS and the SNP/Scottish government )……but there are others too…..where their opinions are all compromised by their obvious bias against the SNP and too independence and also their partisan support for another political opposition party and too their support for the UK…..
As for Scotland Tonight…..having Henry Hill ,Deputy Editor of Conservative Home , on in past programmes and also having Asa Bennett a ‘journalist’ with The Torygraph on as well (and other ‘Journalists’ outwith Scotland on as well)…well I fail to see how it , as a programme , can then advertise that they are relating the news from a ‘Scottish’ perspective …….aye right….obviously my idea of a Scottish perspective is very different from theirs….and yet given their poor content and choice of guests I can only assume that for them there is a method FOR their BADNESS not MADNESS…..and we all know what that is do we not !

Agree with your thoughts, however, you note that she relies on sponsorship to stay here. Does she actually get a vote at the next GE?
The major challenge for the SNP is the lack of political support by MSM. The majority of people still get their information from the BBC and the anti SNP troll farms on social media are clearly there for a reason.

Gordon Brown, illegal wars, tax evasion and banking fraud, complaints about obscene poverty in the UK.
Who caused it? The unionists. Westminster cabal of clueless fraudsters. Poor, bad decisions.
Scotland is going a different way. £25 child payments, pass passes, prescriptions, social care, education, mitigating Westminster cuts etc.

US states have more autonomy than Scotland. US migrants could be debunked from Scotland under UK migration plans. Getting sponsored by Scottish taxpayers than not supporting the majority wishes. Cutting off their nose to spite their face. Voting Labour unionist? Not very bright.

As others more acquainted with polling have made very clear, the media are misinterpreting the data.
The UK electorate are broadly in contempt of Westminster politics, the media and polling companies are perceived part of the problem hence low response – However, given hostility to the Tories in England, Starmer, who should have been romping it, has blown it – Labour are in deep trouble UK wide, and with England on a low turnout, Westminster will likely be a hung parliament with no ‘mandate’…..
In Scotland the problem is amplified ten-fold whilst the media have been promoting a Labour landslide for months – They will continue doing so right up to the last minute, they always have, dejavu…
In reality Scotland’s electorate are keeping their powder dry for when it matters, and the pollsters don’t have a scooby….
Scotland’s media have been

This via Open Democracy website:
“Watchdog urged to probe Labour’s failure to declare value of HSBC donation”
“Party accused of breaching Electoral Commission rules by failing to publish value of staffer seconded from banking giant”
“The Electoral Commission has been urged to investigate Labour over its year-long failure to declare the value of a donation from banking giant HSBC“
“HSBC seconded one of its staff members to Keir Starmer’s party in February 2023, in an arrangement that sees the bank continue to pay the staffer’s wages while they carry out work for Labour.
“More than a year later, the party has still not published the value of this in-kind donation – an apparent breach of the Electoral Commission’s rules”
“The former chair of the Committee on Standards in Public Life warned it is “absolutely crucial” that Labour follows the rules around declarations, and said the commission “should be looking at this”.
“The HSBC staffer, whom openDemocracy is choosing not to name, works in shadow business secretary Jonathan Reynolds’ office in a part-time role focused on engaging with businesses.
“They have appeared on every edition of the official register of MPs’ staff and researchers, which is updated monthly, since February 2023”.
“The register lists people who have parliamentary passes through their work for MPs, as well as any outside interests they may have, or benefits they have received over a certain value”
“Labour has accepted many in-kind donations of seconded staff members from banks, lobbyists and consultancies in recent years, but this is the first time it has failed to declare the value of such an arrangement“.
“Before Starmer took over the party’s leadership in 2020, Labour had banned such secondments over concerns that they amounted to “institutional corruption”, according to James Schneider, who was director of strategic communications for former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn”.
“Schneider, now communications director at campaign group Progressive International, told openDemocracy: “If Labour policy is written by people who were, are or expect to be corporate lobbyists in the future, it will represent those corporate interests, not its members, unions or the public”.
“In this way, the revolving door between corporate lobbying and Westminster is a form of legalised corruption that insulates the rich and powerful from democratic demands.”
“He added: “With this seedy revolving door fully reinstated in Labour HQ, it’s no surprise that the party is busy rejecting policies that would benefit the many not the few”
“Political parties complete quarterly returns detailing all their donations received, with Electoral Commission rules stipulating that in-kind donations of staff time must be declared in the quarter that the arrangement began“.
“If the bank is facilitating the secondment then it is a donation which should be declared to the Electoral Commission, and the member of parliament who is supervising this secondment should really have declared it on the MPs’ register of interests.
“They’ve now got as their [chief of staff] Sue Gray, who used to be in charge of ethical standards in the Cabinet Office, so she should be overseeing that the rules are abided with and there’s full disclosure to the Electoral Commission.”
“Last week openDemocracy revealed that Labour has accepted cash and in-kind donations worth £2m from banks, financiers and firms linked to the City of London since 2022″.
“Natwest and the lobbying firm Lowick seconded members of staff to Reynolds’ office in 2022 while he was the shadow City minister, and Reynolds’ successor in the role, Tulip Siddiq, currently has a financial services specialist seconded to her office from lobbying firm Global Counsel”
“Labour declined to offer a comment or provide further details about the arrangement”.
******
In December 2022 it was reported that “Sir Keir Starmer has promised not to carry out a tax raid on the banks if he is made Prime Minister” and he seems to be still committed to this ‘pledge’ as it seems that his pledges for the ‘Few’ are more important than his pledges to the ‘Many’ which fall by the wayside “Sir Keir Starmer is set to abandon Labour’s policy to spend £28bn a year on environmental projects in a major U-turn by the party. The party leader is expected to confirm that the pledge is being scaled back, blaming a more difficult economic outlook since it was first unveiled in 2021″……and this year it was declared that a Labour government will not reinstate the cap on bankers’ bonuses…..
Jonathan Reynolds (see above re Open Democracy) , the shadow business secretary, said that “getting rid of the bonus cap, ‘when it will not have any impact on 99.9 per cent of people in this country’ is “incoherent,” and “not the way to grow this economy for the benefit of everyone.” (Did his HSBC seconded member of staff help him write that statement)
Six days ago Keir Starmer made a speech stating that Labour “were THE party for Business”..…..aye and these same business’s, banks and firms linked to the city of London and their donations to New New Labour’s party coffers are now satisfied that they WILL get a return on their donations…..New New Labour bought and paid for…….that’s the New New Labour party…….
Sorry for length of comment but I cannot do links…..and felt compelled to add here as you and I know that NONE of the TV news channels “where we are” will highlight this or indeed the BBC’s infamous Disclosure programme as that is most clearly not part of their Pro UK remit……
Please ALL Scots who may be considering lending their vote to New New Labour….they , New New Labour, love to talk the talk (kinda though they cannot KEEP many of the pledges they make before they are even elected as the next UK government) but they will NOT walk the walk…..if they do get in then they will NOT fulfil much of what they now say they will and they will just BLAME (use excuses) the Tories former mismanagement and the state of the economy…it’s a classic that even the Tories are STILL using NOW and they have been in power since 2010 !
Vote SNP at next GE and NOT New New Labour or you will most definitely reap what both you and indeed very much what New New Labour will surely sow (on your behalf)….

Please read Open Democracy’s new article on New New Labour and the Electoral Commission where “Labour Party accused of breaching Electoral Commission rules by failing to publish value of staffer seconded from banking giant”……staffer works for Jonathan Reynolds (the shadow business Secretary) as in the same Jonathan Reynolds who recently stated that “getting rid of the bonus cap, ‘when it will not have any impact on 99.9 per cent of people in this country’ is incoherent,” and “not the way to grow this economy for the benefit of everyone.” (so did the staffer that Open Democracy refers to as in the one who works for Jonathan Reynolds….write this for Jonathan to state publicly on why tis best NOT to get rid of bankers bonus caps)……
What a tangled web they, New New Labour, really really DO weave when first (always) they practice to deceive……oh but apparently under New New Labour we will apparently see real “Change” and a “Fresh start” from the Tories……but will lobbying still be in the mix under a New New Labour UK Govt. ?
Open democracy revealed last week that ” Bankers and City-linked firms have handed Labour the equivalent of £2m since the party launched its charm offensive on big business in 2022″
Wow New New Labour are really telling us who they really are….are they not….and indeed who they will really prioritise as the next UK government and who they will NOT !
