99% of Scots voters don’t care or have been made stronger supporters of SNP after pandemic ‘revelations’

From an admittedly self-selecting sample of 524 from nearly 11 000 followers of TuS, only 1.1% reported being less likely now to vote SNP after the media ‘revelations’ of the behaviour of SNP leaders during the pandemic.

Nearly three-quarters indicated that the media coverage had been counter-production, in making them actually more likely to vote SNP and a quarter had their opinion unchanged by it.

Comments below were illuminating and suggest the 1.1% ‘lessers‘ are even fewer:

  1. The Covid Inquiry has got bogged down in the quicksand of WhatsApp messages, missing from the PM, Chancellor and Secretary of State for Scotland’s submissions and is now in the grip of the head hunting media.

At the moment it appears unlikely that it will ever get around to examining something that had significantly different outcomes in Scotland from England, such as the over sixties vaccination and death rates published in the World Health Organisation’s report – “Estimated number of deaths directly averted in people 60 years and older as a result of COVID-19 vaccination in the WHO European Region, December 2020 to November 2021.”

    1. The Enquiry has NOT “got bogged down in the quicksand of WhatsApp”. The Unionist media and politicians have chosen to focus on things like that to the exclusion of almost everything else that is being presented to the enquiry.

It is their habitual ruse of selecting data, out of context to support their dodgy allegation.

The media and the unionist politicians do not want the Enquiry to get to the truth of the matter. They want the Tories and most of their business chums to get off, but they want the Scottish Government and NHS Scotland to be blamed and excoriated.

As far as they are concerned, Michelle Mone can be sacrificed – after all, she is not a real ‘lady’, just an East End of Glasgow Barras trader. They will not recount the many times they gave her huge amounts of publicity.

      1. I read John’s comment about being ‘bogged down’ over WhatsApp as referring to the London start of the Inquiry

        – James Cook had led up to the Edinburgh hearings trumpeting loudly it would be equally embarrassing to SG, a strategy which has backfired badly.

I agree on your observation on the media’s selective reporting however, notably again, BBC Scotland – They appear to rely on the 1-2 day delay in the hearings appearing on Youtube to broadcast their own version – Only if you watch the session live does the propaganda game being played become glaringly obvious.

As to the Mone saga – This is one of two BBC/UK/Business articles promoted by James Cook on the Scotland/Politics page for no other reason than to take up space.

        1. I agree with you, I have only been able to watch parts of the inquiry a mix of live stream and YouTube, that – as expected – bear little resemblance to the media news coverage.

Unfortunately the majority of people will have to base their opinions on the media version of the inquiry.

The remit of the inquiry is so all encompassing that it will be years before its final report is published, by then the public will have been presented with several reams of reports, the people involved will have moved on and have little of worth to offer to the governments at that time.

  2. The Covid (Scotland ) has truly exposed the nauseating bias of the media ( Scottish , English , British , Non-Dom ) towards anything which smacks of making the Scottish Government ( that SNPeeee !!! ) look good .

They CANNOT allow Scotland’s response ( with its faults , admittedly ) to look more professional and in control than the sh*t-show that was ( and is ) the UK Government disaster .

Do not expect more nuanced reporting from a media that Goebbels would be proud to call his own .

  3. IMHO Whatsapp messages are in the same category as phonecalls so if the Inquiry was so intent on understanding of the mindset of those in Government I’m sure GCHQ/MI5 will be only too happy to release the transcripts of Sturgeon’s calls over the pandemic period. Afterall they do still believe the SNP are akin to a terrorist organisation.
