I was a big fan of James Kelly’s work but he has not posted anything remotely contributing to the Yes campaign since October 26th’s ‘There are various ways in which independence may be won – but it’s not going to be won with a big petition‘.
Since then, 18 out of 21 posts have been about Alba and 1 of the 3 non-Alba posts was about Pandas.
Having said that, he can be entertaining. See Alba are starting to cook with gas on 30 October 2023.
And before it became an Alba chatroom, it was a Trans chatroom.

He’s another precious Prima Donna. He blocked me a while back for disagreeing with him. I wasn’t abusive, I just happened to disagree with him.

His blog is a complete borefest now. It’s a pity as it was always worth reading in the past. However, over the last couple of years his output has been pretty poor and a very obsessive about his beloved Alba and trying to get on its NEC. He writes screeds about it. Yawn!
He also appears to have trouble getting enough money to continue with the blog. Maybe folk are a bit bored with his obsession?

I find his views a bit naive , we need adult comments that are inclusive so that everyone that wants Scottish independence can be on the same page about how we proceed, factional gains are not what’s important , it’s all fine supporting ALBA but they will never drag the whole SNP vote to their camp , let’s be honest here we need togetherness which means accepting that there will be people who want conservatism and Scottish independence , socialism and Scottish independence communism and Scottish independence and a whole raft of differences within those groups that those in each group can’t even agree among themselves.

I completely agree with you…….everyone that desires Scottish Independence,
as far as I am concerned, must put our country first and vote for the biggest, by far,
Independence party which is, like it or not, the SNP.
Therefore we must all put petty squabbles to the back and put our country first.
A vote for the SNP is a vote for the future…..especially the Scotlands next generation!!!

”..1 in 3 of the non-Alba posts were about Pandas ”.
Well , at least the Pandas knew that they were being up-staged by Alba in the Endangered Species ratings .. and f*cked off back to China !

I am disappointed to read posts dismissive of James Kelly. He has done a remarkable job over more than 10 years in sustaining the blog. His analysis of polling and the polling he has commissioned have been top notch.
Like many political enthusiasts, he feels strongly about independence. Like a number of people he felt that the SNP has lost its way with regard to independence.
However, despite his critiques of Nicola Sturgeon and those around her and his lack of enthusiasm for Humza Yousaf, he has, despite joining Alba, continued to seek to find ways to reunite people who support independence.
He is seeking funding for another poll to test out various potentially unifying ideas as well as gauging the level of support for independence as opposed to support for SNP, Alba, Labour etc. We need this kind of sophisticated data driven strategy.

James Kelly’s analysis of polling *used to be* top notch. It is now trumped by his hatred of trans rights and of the SNP for supporting trans rights. There is nothing ‘sophisticated’ about it.

Perhaps he got fed up waiting for the snp and independence.
I expect another ice age before the snp promote independence.

The SNP have not stopped promoting Independence, they do it constantly by showing the people of Scotland that they care about them and put the people first.
Think of all the policies that they have introduced to mitigate the evil austerity agenda of Westminster.
By doing this it is showing the people what could be possible if we had full fiscal powers with Independence and keeping all the money raised in Scotland, but when we have a rabid Anti Independence media constantly telling our people that we are shite and could never run our own affairs, it takes longer to convince them.

You will not unite the yes movement with this kind of article. it was unnecessary. I know the two of you don’t get on but – and this used to be the hallmark of this site Professor Robertson – lets keep things positive.
