Ayrshire Tories pretend they’re not Tories and try to scare locals with fake news on local hospital

This is, I feel sure, the standard Scottish Cons leaflet going out to every letter box in Scotland in a determined effort to use up the millions they’ve had in donations from the rich and powerful, of whom they have a long history of serving the demands – deregulation, no workers right, low council and other taxes and low public spending.

The word ‘Con’ only appears in the dated graph and ‘Conservative’ only appears in the tiniest lettering in the footers.

The colour blue only appears in the graphs as they show off their new livery – Racing Green.

Dowey is a former police constable, council leader and partner of the local regional MSP. His opponent Allan Dorans, is a former Detective Inspector with the Met in London.

Sneakily worded to avoid clear fibs, the above is a naked attempt to scare locals into thinking their local hospital might close or be seriously downgraded. It’s fake news of the worst kind.

Here are the facts from the Cumnock Chronicle based on a meeting which Dowey attended and/or has seen the report of:

NHS: Rumours over downgrading of Ayr Hospital ‘untrue’

Claire Burden, chief executive of NHS Ayrshire and Arran, told members of the area’s health board that the continued rumours over critical and emergency services in Ayr were “untrue” –  and insisted that the NHS could not afford to see a “downgrade” in Ayr.

She insisted the pressures currently being faced at the hospital are down to staffing and recruitment.

Ms Burden said: “I feel it is important that I cover the constant concerns for critical care and emergency at Ayr Hospital.

“Despite our best efforts, we continue to have issues raised by staff members, members of parliament, local representatives and the press.

“Ayr Hospital is an essential part of our estate and we cannot live without it.

“The idea we could lose the estate, or downgrade, is not something we could tolerate as a system. ”

Finally:

This graph shows the result of the 2019 General Election when lots of Labour Unionists took a punt on the Cons to try to hold the seat.

What they’re trying to do here is trick local Labour supporters by hiding this poll analysis from November 2021, showing only Labour can come second:

How fake is this leaflet? Fully fake.

  1. Anyone who votes Conservative in Scotland deserves what they get , everyone knows what the Conservatives stand for makes no difference whether it’s in England or Scotland Wales or NI it’s Westmibster that controls it all.

As for tactical voters in Ayrshire switching between Labour and Conservative all I can say is they are different sides of the same backside and again deserve what they get , we all know Labour are now the red Conservative Party , it’s clear that Labour and Conservative should just be honest and amalgamate and whilst they are at it invite in the Lib Dem’s too , then we will have what we all know is the actual situation in Scotland , we will all be bettertogether once all the rats are in the same bag and eat each other alive .

  2. The Tories cut NHS funding and did not increase it until the pandemic.spent £270Billion over two years. Scotland did not get £27Billion for parity.

Tories cut education £6Billion a year from 2015. Scottish Gov have to mitigate the cuts.

The Tories are toast. An election soon.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Plastic Surgeon Consultant recognised at national awards held at 10 Downing Street

A professor and consultant plastic surgeon from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has been recognised by a national charity at an awards ceremony held at Number 10 Downing Street.

Professor Steven Lo was nominated at the Sarcoma UK Charity Awards at the historic Number 10 Downing Street last week, within the Healthcare Professionals Innovation and Excellence category.

Sarcoma UK is a leading charity dedicated to supporting individuals affected by sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that grows in connective tissue like bones, nerves and muscles, and the annual awards look to recognise those who have made significant contributions and advancements in the field.

Steven and colleagues were nominated by the charity for their research on improving function for patients after sarcoma surgery, using muscle and nerve transfers, to allow them to walk better and get back to everyday tasks like shopping.

The nomination highlights Professor Lo’s skills and unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of sarcoma patients.

Consultant Plastic Surgeon Steven Lo said: “I am extremely grateful to Sarcoma UK for the recognition of the work we do in Glasgow.

“However, I would like to thank the Scottish Sarcoma network and our specialist nurses who work together as a team with orthopaedic surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, rehabilitation and other specialists across Scotland in order to get the best outcomes for patients, with what is a very rare and often worrying disease.

“Glasgow is now one of the leading centres in the world for this type of function restoring surgery and I am excited to see what the future brings for sarcoma treatment.”
