Civil War as Scottish Labour MPs defy Scottish Labour Leader

PA Media

Commenting on a letter from the Scottish Labour Party’s two MPs, Ian Murray and Michael Shanks, U-turning on the Scottish Labour Party’s support for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Israel, SNP Westminster Deputy Leader Mhairi Black MP said:

“The SNP will be standing up for our values and voting for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Israel. That is the only way to stop the deaths of innocent children, end the collective punishment of civilians and uphold international law.

“It’s the position backed by the UN, the international community and the SNP government – and until today it was the position supported by Anas Sarwar, whose own MPs are now defying him. SNP MPs will be able to look themselves in the mirror knowing they voted for a ceasefire – it will be for Scottish Labour MPs to explain why they failed to do so.”

  2. This on Labour and its policy towards Gaza is obviously all happening in a parallel universe. After nine hours, the Scotland section of the BBC News website is still only covering the matters playing out today in Westminster in an article with this daft headline: ‘Will SNP motion highlight division in Labour Party?’ And the answer is ….?

No sparing of effort tho’ from BBC Scotland when placing TWO articles on roving charges for use of an iPad on both the main Scotland and the Scotland Politics pages of the website!

BBC Scotland refers to Westminster’s attention today on Gaza as ‘shenanigans’: IPads and £11,000 are obviously much more pertinent to Scotland’s people, parliament and government. BBC Scotland and opposition parties are working hard to keep our attention on the parochial and the trivial!
