Revealed – ‘The pretty UK town so remote ferries only travel there six months a year’ is on the mainland!

The Daily Express (England), fresh from inadvertently seeming to praise CalMac’s ‘hundreds of ferries visiting‘ Oban, tells us today: ‘The pretty UK town so remote ferries only travel there six months a year’ before going on to not mention that the town in question, Campbelltown, is actually on the mainland and that to get to Glasgow, you’d be faster avoiding the ferry to Ardrossan and just take your car round the road.

What’s next? Ferries to Skye where you get a lovely view of a bridge and wonder where it goes? Remote Dunoon?

  1. The use of the word ‘remote’ reveals the parochial mindset of the editors and subeditors at the Express. Anywhere more than a mile from Chelsea is ‘remote.’ Of course, if anything, the smug Guardian editorial staff are even more North London parochial than the Express or Mail, staff. These newspapers actually have Scottish editions. To the Guardian, anything outside Islington is ‘in the provinces’.

  2. Left up to the Anglo establishment,in their ignorance, would prioritise the ferry service to Campbelltown over the much greater need to find a permanent solution to the ongoing problems with the A83 road.

  3. “A far away country of which we know little”.
The Daily Supress, Heil, Torygraph, BBC Engurland et al.

And of course, while Bach is easy for them to pronounce, Scottish place/personal names are not.
Lock-anything, Murdock, Breekin, Oaknee, Stehling, Puth, Abahdeen, A-Sheer, etc…………………………………………….

300 years of disdain from a neighbour who wants us to be a COUNTY of THEIR country……..Greater England.

  4. Well the Daily Express ARE experts in all that is REMOTE.

As in much of their headlines and content being consistently so very remote from what is the truth…….indeed tis a wonder how anyone could be remotely interested in anything they publish unless they too as ‘readers’ prefer the promotion of lies and hate as opposed to truth and harmony.

Though they, The Daily Express, are certainly NOT REMOTE from the Tory party…..indeed the bond between both of them makes one suspect that perhaps a change of title, for them as a newspaper , would be more apt and truthful…as in them changing their title to that of….. The Tory Express…..then that at least would be a case of them, for once , being honest via them promoting the fact that via their NEW newspaper title that….’it DOES exactly what it SAYS on the TIN(POT)’ name …LOL

Can I just say how delicious I find it that a certain person (who was clearly acting as one who who was becoming way TOO big for his BOOTS) as in one who has been a very STRONG critic (propagandist) , via using somewhat ABUSIVE terms , when both he, and his guests, referred to both Nicola Sturgeon, Humza Yousaf and the SNP via his (former) programme on GB News…….and too the assumptions of guilt both he and his guests have presumed was factual on NS and the SNP via the ongoing Police investigation of the SNP….NOW the shoe is very much on the OTHER foot (as in HIM being investigated by the Police, sacked from the MailOnline and suspended , for another incident, from GB News)…….

No need to mention HIS name as I am sure you must know to whom I am referring…..but you know I always KNEW that HIS time would come as one who would eventually get his comeuppance……sure he is not so smug now that he himself is under the microscope via accusations made against him and too being investigated by the Police…..yet strangely he expects that the public, in this instance, should not presume that he is guilty amidst an investigation that is not yet concluded…..which as a position is the very much the complete opposite of that which he and his guests on his show on GB News had expected the public to conclude via the SNP and NS (pre the police investigation being concluded)…….if he is found guilty one should then assume that surely his career as a ‘shock Jock’ ,masquerading as a ‘presenter’ , is indeed finally over….but then we do not live in a normal UK do we……where only certain individuals and A specific political party are made to suffer consequences within the UK……while other individuals and political parties are ALLOWED to continue unblemished or rather their various respective careers being largely unaffected by any scandals linked to them…. all because THEY, as individuals and political parties , support what is currently the dominant force in both the UK media and politics that exists within their UK…..as in those who support RIGHT wing politics that pollute so much of what many of us here in Scotland are expected to endure while still being a part of THEIR UK……..which as a UK…..is clearly as a (right) state one that rots from the head down.

BTW the individual I refer to above is a self confessed TORY supporter….say no more.

  6. I enjoy and appreciate reading your posts/blog and thank you for your good work. I didn’t want to post publicly as I have no wish to undermine your good work but as bad as the MSM is for inaccurracy and downright lies I feel it’s important we ( pro indy) don’t fall into the same trap. I looked up the article in question and read this ‘Designated the westernmost town in Great Britain, Campbeltown, is only accessible by ferry during the summer months – in the winter, you have to drive all the way up and around Loch Lomond for three and a half hours to reach the Scottish town’. Again, I appreciate and value your good work but please don’t fall into the trap of inaccuraccies as our argument doesn’t need to be inaccurate to be justified. Of course, there is the possibility that this article has been edited – is this possible? With kind regards,David Agnew.

    1. There are several ways to get to Campbeltown, I know of at least three not including the direct ferry route.
But for sure if you drive all the way up and around Loch Lomond you will have wasted your time because you will be in Crianlarich not Campbeltown.

      1. Ok, you could name them for me for a start. Secondly, As I live near Crianlarich I think you’ll find you must have missed a turning. Lastly, regardless of this, my point remains, the article does point out that there is a road route. I’m the last to stick up for the rag that is the Mail but truth and fact is the strength of our cause.

As someone who lives around Crianlarich you will be well aware that there is only one road which goes “up and around Loch Lomond” and that is the one from Balloch up the western shore and round to Crianlarich.
Some alternatives to the direct ferry are.
As you know the road route using the A82 to Tarbert and A83 from Tarbert to Campbeltown
          Or
Ferry to Dunoon, A815 to A83 and on to Campbeltown.
          Or
Ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick drive to Lochranza ferry to Claonaig on to Campbeltown by whatever road you prefer.
As some of us are aware, in getting to a great many places in Scotland, the problems are not the ferries.
They are the same as the “LBJ” bridge project. Infrastructure, mostly the roads that service the ferries.
When you are a tourist or out for a wander most of the roads in Scotland are great.
As part of an integrated rapid transport system thow they mostly suck.

But they are getting better I can now go from East Lothian to Birnam Wood by dual carriageway and motorway. and breakfast at Ballinluig is just a hop skip and a jump from there.

  7. Personally I don’t read newspapers so I get all my important (aka English) news from the BBC Scotland TV channel. It is so refreshing to get an insight into everything that is going on England just a pity it doesn’t cover Scotland unless of course there is a SNP baaad story.
