Fire fears but no facts on BBC Scotland first thing to keep you frightened even while deaths plummet

As often before, the Reporting Scotland team seem to have a story not featuring more widely on their website or on any newspaper front page.

It’s a choice made at editorial level or above to keep the agenda going, an agenda aimed at undermining the whole independence project by implying on a daily basis that Scotland, the Scottish Government and the SNP cannot run a country.

You know the rhetoric. Starmer suggesting that if we cannot run a bottle return scheme how can we run a country? Facts, of course, don’t matter. Goebbels is their teacher.

The facts on firefighting? Not to be mentioned of course:

In last 25 years, serious fires have reduced by more than 50% from 66 000 to 25 000.

Fatal casualties in fires have fallen by even more from around 125 to around 50.

In 2020 Scotland hd 3 636 firefighters. England had 32 171.

All things being equal, with 10 times the population, England should have 36 360 but only has 32 171. Scotland has 13% more firefighters pro rata.

  1. John , I don’t know anyone who watches/listens to BBC Scotland – apart from your good self !
Perhaps they are deliberately producing stories that will wind YOU up ?
A little bit of delayed revenge for your exposure of their bias during the 2014 referendum .LoL ! You obviously got under their skin !

  2. Considering BBC Scotland’s source I’m not surprised by this.
The Fire Brigades Union have long been affiliated to the Labour party.
When I joined back in 1980 part of our union dues was a Political Levy which went to The Labour Party. Being a lifelong SNP supporter I queried if my Political Levy could be directed to them, I was told no but that I could abstain from the Political Levy if I so wished. I abstained.
I don’t know if this is still the case regarding the political levy as I retired 13 years ago.

      1. Exactly Stewartb,

There is no such thing as The Scottish Labour Party.
They are a branch office and take their orders from London.
There was no way I was going to subsidise that.

To elaborate on my experience, I think it is immoral for any union to try to coerce their members to follow one particular party. Union officials are there to serve their members regardless of the members political persuasion.

I am all for union delegates fighting for better conditions and pay, but surely their job is to negotiate with whichever government is in power to get the best deal for their members and not attempt to bring down governments that are not Labour by running to The BBC with tell tale stories.
The recent carry on with the bin men in Glasgow springs to mind with Sarwar pictured with ‘Roland the Rat’. GMB also being affiliated to the Labour party.

Note to Roland: Sarwar doesn’t care about you, you are beneath him, but a useful tool for him to exploit when it suits him. Also Roland I’m quite sure there are many GMB members who support independence and vote SNP.

  3. Prof JR is not the only viewer as I watch the TV show (occasionally) and most times it supports his thesis. Keep up the good work 🙂
BTW congrats on your ‘Scots Independent’ award.
