Is it common knowledge in England that the SNP police investigations were ‘establishment’-engineered and that England cannot let Scotland go?

Having a coffee-break and watching Storm Huntley on Channel 5 for a few minutes, I was stunned to hear caller Julia from Sheffield, a Keir Starmer admirer, say:

The reason why, I think, in Scotland, the SNP has lost its way is because it’s faced the weight of the establishment, the severe impact of the establishment, on them because the last thing they (the establishment) want is Scotland to separate from the rest of the UK.

Think about that.

The establishment? The Tory and Labour ‘mandarins’, the top civil servants, the judiciary, the military chiefs, MI5? Is that what she meant? What else could she mean?

Weight? Impact? Trumped up charges that will never need to come to court to do damage? Heavy-handed policing? Media frenzy? Tory/Labour accusations?

Julia is a Keir Starmer admirer yet seems aware of this. Are others in England?

Yet, in Scotland, were an SNP supporter to say the same, they’d be ridiculed.

A fascinating revelation, I’d say.

  1. All I will say is that pent up demand for independence will eventually require a pressure relief valve.
If ‘the establishment ‘ do their damnedest to stop it, who knows where that leads?

  2. In the middle of the pandemic it was revealed that Sturgeon had the highest level of trust/support of anyone across the UK.
From that day on, the media in Scotland changed from Unionist “neutrality” to outright opposition.
Full court press, no context, no perspective, nothing but animosity.

    Ditto the “police” investigation.
Two years with 20 full time officers and the UK Crime Agency, yet not a single charge.
The media and opposition have been allowed free rein to attack, culminating in the Prime Minister echoing Trump with a “lock her up” euphemism.

There has been no similar inquiry in England: no blue tents even when billions of pounds of public moneys has bee syphoned into the pockets of Tory fraudsters.
The media stay silent, as does Labour which will form the next government, yet has offered Scotland NOTHING.

The SNP/YES have to get themselves back as a campaigning body.
No more infighting, concentrate on independence, the reasons for it and the benefits. Simple as that!

    1. Indeed ….”Prime Minister echoing Trump with a “lock her up” euphemism”

Yet conveniently he is forgetting another Police investigation on one of his own Tory peers…a Baroness no less….who currently is missing and conspicuous via her absence in undertaking NO action in the HOL in support of her party as she instead is in sunnier climes with NOT a motorhome as a mode of transport but a yacht….which was reported as being bought via monies gained from the VIP fast track PPE contract awarded to a company she recommended (pushed) via Michael Gove……the PRIVATE emails have apparently been seen by the media who reported upon this…..indeed same Michael Gove who has NOT complied with two courts who ruled he should release the finding of the (not so) secret poll on support for the (non) Union….using money that was allocated for Covid…..but in using this tax payers allocated Covid money it has not prompted a Police investigation…..my guess is WRONG party and PROTECTED TORY individual as in Gove……..and look how long they have taken to investigate the baroness’s case….while ignoring other AWARDS of PPE contracts via the Tories to their friends (including pub landlords of then Health Secretary), Tory donors and too a relation of a Tory politician……my God the SNP have a lot of catching up to do to equal #ToryBadness…..LOL

    2. Sadly even today seeing Alba party followers slagging off SNP doing Brit state work for them…especially re Nicola Sturgeon, claiming there was untoward activity re £’s…so makes you wonder, given I read years ago (probably when I used to read pretendy lefty Guardian rag) that the BritNat parliament would never allow any brand new party to get their foot in the door of WM, yet here we have the ‘Alba’ party, welcomed with open arms. Is Alba really in favour of Scottish independence…Hmm.

  3. It’s kind of obvious even just watching FMQs, that the establishment is hard at work. The three opposition leaders’ questions are very thinly disguised party political broadcasts with no nod to actual truth – just as long as they get their message across.

  4. I have thought for a number of years that the break up of the United Kingdom, will come about when a significant proportion of the people who live in England undergo what Paulo Freire called ‘contientisation’, that is when they begin to reflect on one of their identities as English, as distinct from being UK/English.

It can be argued that England does not have a government in the sense that Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, to some extent have. The people of England are being governed as colonised peoples by a UK establishment, in the same way that the Irish, Scots and Welsh are, but most are unaware of this because the Englishness which they think they have is not the Englishness of the establishment.

JB Priestley was right when he wrote, “ …… the common people of England have not spoken yet.”

However, they are being urged to speak by the media and the establishment in xenophobic terms, paranoid about ‘others’.

Maybe the woman on the phone-in is becoming aware.

    2. Interesting. In 2014 I don’t remember being made to feel ‘British’ we were ‘all one big family of nations’ in the Uk. After that and since England imposed Brexit on their ‘Uk’, ‘British’ and ‘Britain’ has been wall to wall in the the political sphere and in the news, etc, and not just in ‘Britain’. The ‘Uk’ has been renamed, ‘Britain’.

      ‘British’ = English.

I follow this blog, I saw this today. Note the area they are saying the article covers, in the title.

      Mapping Britain’s fossil fuel sites

      It led me to this;
      https://friendsoftheearth.uk/climate/fossil-fuel-map-where-are-onshore-extraction-sites-england-and-wales

What is ‘Britain’? It does not include Scotland, did it ever?

  5. Aye an honest and objective observation as opposed to the spin some are punting via this so called Labour ‘victory’ at a time when tis obvious to anyone that the SNP are, as a party, very much under attack….by various “establishment” sources but too via some within the Indy movement also.

I have read various ‘interpretations’ of what happened via last night’s By-election and these various opinions are very much dependent on where that particular source sits in their position on both the SNP as a party and too independence…..and honesty and objectivity does not come into their equation in their summarising of how and why the SNP did not win….of course, in SOME instances, their own involvement in that so calked WIN for Labour is brushed over and thus to be seen as an incidental impediment….but to a voter yet to be convinced on both the SNP and independence it has to be a factor that confirms their assumed justified reluctance to change their opinions on both the SNP and too independence……as a divided Indy movement generates a lot of doubt and mistrust in those voters yet to be convinced……

Oh to speculate and surmise what’s what…with us each having different takes via different ‘Indy’ sources online…..who is right and who is wrong….and in the meantime what is lost within the arguments as we squabble among ourselves while those we oppose politically stand back and leave us to it……as in never interrupt your enemy when they are destroying themselves…..so this constant roundabout we never seem able to get off continues …….where one faction states we are being too simplistic in our interpretation of what is happening while they and others also accuse us of being too blinded by what they see as the many flaws that they say exists within the SNP…..and thus we forget about and leave behind those voters who are as yet not as driven to be informed or engaged in politics…..which suits, as a current position, the Pro UK side….perhaps some within the pro independence side will be the actual ones who will walk blindly and willingly into an eventual conclusion of grasping defeat from the jaws of what really really really should be a victory for independence to happen especially with all things considered since 2014 that have very much been so terribly bad and worse for us in their UK…………and thus the Pro UK politicians and their media need do or say nothing as some within our movement are doing their job for them….and for some in the Indy movement a longer haul is preferred via a new alternate Indy party rather than winning independence before more of our resources are plundered to enrich a UK government treasury and in some instances sold off to foreign investors for them to become enriched by….wha indeed is like us.

Worth noting and reminding again for some Scots who still have doubts that a Labour UK government is NOT for Life…the Tories will regroup come the subsequent election to next years GE and thus that will find Scotland once again back to the same old same old position as many times before….under Tory UK rule….I mean who thinks a Labour Govt can turn around their UK in four years…with trillions of UK debt, a disaster that is Brexit and what will be a very much weakened Independence movement should the SNP LOSE seats……wha indeed is like us

      1. The only part I’d disagree with is that an SNP supporter would automatically be ridiculed for expressing the same sentiment.
Only in the dystopian media news hemisphere and from unionist online bots.
Sadly real people aren’t able have such a rosy view of our legal system.

  6. The vote in this debate was

    For – 83
    Against – 29 (all Conservative)

I wonder what the 48 Scottish Labour MPs intend to do about it👇😉

    https://www.gov.scot/news/protecting-the-powers-of-the-scottish-parliament/

“MSPs have voted to repeal the UK Internal Market Act, which Scottish Ministers say effectively allows the UK Government take control of key devolved policy areas without the consent of MSPs.

During a debate in the Scottish Parliament, Minister for Independence Jamie Hepburn warned UK Ministers could open up Scotland’s water and health services to “market access principles” and urged the UK Government to respect devolution by repealing the act. Mr Hepburn outlined how the Act was already impacting the Scottish Parliament’s ability to pass laws in areas such as the environment and animal welfare.”

  7. Sir Iain Livingstone was widely reported as saying : ‘In the nature of these complex investigations, there are a whole series of factors and a multitude of variables that come into play. So I would never put an artificial timescale on it.
It has to take its course. We will continue to work very closely with independent prosecutors and matters will progress in due course.’

What did he mean by independent prosecutors?
Are the Scottish police and prosecution service not both independent?

    1. Good question. Not very transparent, who are the ‘independent prosecutors’? Who emplys and instructs them? Where do they have their offices? Hmm…as for the Scottish police, don’t know who they take their orders from all said and done.

  8. 2014 + a narrow no vote, Alex stands down and not long after faces accusations that Nicola can’t ignore. No conviction but a fall out between 2 key figures

Nicolas popularity and political presence then targeted by Alex supporters, which are enthusiastically promoted by her opponents and the establishment. Unusual police tactics and an extensive investigation leas to Nicol’s resignation, a second key figure brought down

SNP party discipline is weakened and existing cracks in the direction of travel bubble over. Sturgeonists and Salmondites battle for position leaving the party fractured and easier to defeat

Meanwhile, Westminster just keeps saying no new indyref, no reasoning, discussion or attempt to solve a constitutional problem making any drive for independence frustrated in all directions while the sec of state for Scotland, supposedly representing our interests, vows to destroy the snp once and for all. Job done? I don’t think so but we certainly need some clever thinkers and a strategic plan to move forward

    1. Their (Westminster) disappointment was palpable when Nicola managed to dodge being brought down alongside Alex. It was undoubtedly designed to bring down both of them, or at any rate get one and severely wound/tarnish the other.

It would be folly to underestimate the workings, the devious underhand methods that the Westminster state will go, in order to maintain the status quo. Any threat to the status quo, Corbyn was a threat, BBC photoshopping images etc. That worked, they would have gone further if it had failed.

  9. I used to worry about ex First Minisiter Nicola Sturgeon’s car brakes, but the BritNat state found other underhand ways to take her out of the picture. They don’t play nice, they will use any means they can. In a civilised world England would be preparing for Scotland and NI and in time Wales, and indeed for their own country, to go their own ways…to make it cough cough, amicable, at least. We could all be best pals, share some things I don’t know like some trade or gold, but no, the Brit state is at war with Scotland, via their state controlled media and it’s very sinister.

SNP are up against the Brit state, tougue tied, hands tied, while performing miracles with their decent pro the people, life affirming policies, the complete opposite to the aims and objectives of both Labour and Tory across the Uk, oops I mean Britain as it’s known now.

I mean there are thousands of Eng/Brit paid ops (EngGov installed ‘civil servants’) in Scotland sitting in a fancy BESPOKE office building next to Edinburgh council buildings, how weird and undemocratic, and well, akin to a colony can that be really.

      1. True, works both ways no doubt…and much more besides. Looking at how far to the right Tories have lurched and labour as well, some dodgy regimes across the globe will be rubbing their hands together. If we look at the HOL’s as well, certainly many in there who should be nowhewre near power in the UknotOK.

  10. Of course Julia is absolutely right as regular followers here have always known and in the weight of a biased Media we all recognise the SNP Government has a difficult road to travel. Personally I have maintained that making life ‘too comfortable’ (for want of a better word) is not the most effective. As one Unionist blogger remarked to me… everyone in his patch was driving new or nearly new vehicles which simply exemplifies the notion that for the majority (at least for Unionist supporters) why risk changing things in Independence? Mitigating the worst effects of Tory austerity or even being part of this odious Union for the ‘disadvantaged ‘is obviously the most moral route to go but as voters in Rutherglen have clearly shown it doesn’t always pay dividends.

I was not a supporter of Humza and the predictions that opposition parties would use his past track record as Health minister have clearly used this to their advantage at FM’s Q’s. I have no doubt he is very capable but watching him every week in Parliament I am still not convinced he has the necessary grit that is needed to get our message across.

    1. Jesus could be FM of an SNP Government and ”The Media ” would still refuse to give him a fair hearing !
Any Good News ( not just that from Jesus ) is mangled or ignored in Scotland by the Unionist forces which pale at the thought of England being abandoned to its own resources by an Independent Scotland .
As a result we are subjected to more Unionist and SNPbaaad propaganda than Kim Jong Un , Putin and Goebbels could ever dream of in their own countries .
