If the buck always stops with the President then it always stops with a shipyard owner

Here are some important facts:

Ferguson Marine Engineering Limited (FMEL) was awarded contracts by Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) for two ferries in 2015. FMEL entered administration in August 2019.

https://www.gov.scot/publications/ferguson-marine-background-to-the-company-being-taken-into-public-ownership/

The sole owner in 2019, 4 years after the contract was awarded, was Jim McColl. He bought it cheap in 2014 and agreed a contract for delivery of the vessels by 2018. He is fully responsible for everything. Poor management comes back to his choices of staff.

The Herald today has:

Jim McColl accepts his firm was not blameless in ferry fiasco

https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/23831802.jim-mccoll-accepts-firm-not-blameless-ferry-fiasco/

The distancing of himself as the sole owner and using the term ‘his firm’ is the first sign.

Then we see:

A classic example for Psychology 101. See how he pulls away from his full responsibility? He was an innocent, a mere ‘investor’ and the ‘previous regime?’ That last bit is former war-criminal stuff.

I won’t suggest a diagnosis. You know what we’re dealing with here.

  1. Ah, but …. you forgot the criteria – wealthy people, Tories (often the same people) and colonialist unionists are excepted from having responsibility ascribed to them. They can only be given kudos.

So, for, example, when a schoolgirl was shockingly murdered on a bus in London, the unpleasant e ex-Charterhouse pupil, Cathy Newman, on Channel Four News asserts Sadiq Khan must take responsibility.

As the next phase of the Covid enquiry begins and we have reports of Johnson’s incompetence in dealing with the crisis, the ‘accepted narrative’ is thathe secured the vaccine’. What the unionists want is for Nicola Sturgeon to be allocated all the blame, even for England, Wales and NI because she is a working class whingeing Jock.

  2. What bugs me most is who is funding this circus act ? https://archive.ph/Fjahs
It is not just Martin etc who are being funded to continue this “ferry fiasco” by any means available, but also Jim McColl, and he won’t be cheap.

Firms go bust all the time, a particular hazard with German firms in my experience, thoroughly abusing the German legislation to protect firms.
Yet for all my years in project management, I’ve only seen one case where the Chairman of the company which went bust still whanging on about a political stitch-up 4 years later, and that is James McColl.

For clarity – SG were the Banker for this project, they cannot intervene in an active Contract, they can only decide to halt funding in order to cut losses.
Hence the tail-end of McColl’s statement where he attaches blame to “the banker” in “Some of the blame will be laid with FMEL but the bulk of it lies elsewhere and I believe that is CMAL and the government” is a blatant lie and he knows it.
