For a few months now the Herald’s Maritime Williams has had a Scotland’s Ferries newsletter to deal with the surge in media reports of ferry failures. There is, of course, no actual surge in ferry failures, any more than there was a surge in care home deaths caused by hospital discharges (it was poor agency workers) or a surge in sexual offences by trans folk or a surge in SNP fraud.
It’s just another moral panic and if he is aware of that, it must be doing his head in to have to write that stuff. For his sake, I hope he’s past caring.
He only does Scotland but seems to have avoided having to write about the current SNP ferry fare freeze to help islanders out with the cost of living.
The Herald did cover it three times but the reports were written by Jody Harrison, the PA News Agency and a Craig Williams.
I don’t suppose they’ll be helping readers contextualise the above with the news that in the affluent Washington State, WSF ferry fares have gone up by 4.25% as of today and will be going up another 4.25% next ‘fall.’
I suppose they need the revenue to deal with the black sludge in fuel filters that caused the 50 year-old MV Walla Walla to run aground in April 2023.
In case Williams is interested, CalMac have been using a ‘state-of-the-art fuel monitoring system’ since 2015.

Williams is only interested in dodging the truth about ferries in Scotland
Like most of the media in Scotland and like many agencies in Scotland that are funded by Westminster they have to concentrate on helping Englands propaganda war on Scotland
Even the britnats know we are on to them but they will continue to lie for their cause

Just wondering, do you communicate your findings/comments to Mr. Maritime Williams or simply vent on this blog?

Vent here, share on Extwitter to nearly 10 000.
Have complained re Herald reporting before – ignored by editors and denied by IPSO
No point really. They ‘circle the wagons’

OT but by way of follow-up on Stewart’s earlier articles on JRF etc, I noted HMS James Cook’s lead promotion piece on the Scotland/Politics page this morning is “One in 10 Scots living in ‘very deep poverty'”, relying heavily on “The latest JRT State of the Nation report” and highlighting references to Scotland.
At 16 hours old at the time of writing https://archive.ph/ugfa9, it has amassed 993 comments (comments still open) mainly of the “Sturgeon ate my hamster” variety.
