LEZ is much more popular than this suspect survey suggests

The Herald is trumpeting: Only one in four in Glasgow back LEZ as hotspot pollution rises

Those are surprising figures but may just be the result of dodgy research methods.

See that ‘of those asked in Glasgow?’ Just how many were asked? A handful, way below statistical reliability?

I can’t see the TLF Research. Their website denies ever having researched ULEZ or Glasgow. Equally DriveElectric’s site has nothing.

Why are the findings surprising.

From a credible YouGov poll on an even more radical scheme, on 30 August:

More Londoners support the expansion of the Ultra-Low Emission Zone to the whole of Greater London than oppose it, according to the first opinion poll of the issue published since the measure came into effect yesterday.

A survey by YouGov, which was conducted between 9-14 August, just prior to the change, found that 47 per cent of Londoners supported the then impending enlargement beyond the North and South Circular roads, compared to 42 per cent who opposed it and 11 per cent who didn’t know.

  1. Probably not a Hill The Herald newspaper should wish to ‘die upon’ considering ULEZ tis very much a weapon being deployed against the Labour Mayor in London via his promotion of ULEZ (I mean it’s all over the ENGLISH news as #KhanBad upon this policy…which we Scots get to know about when their English news is disguised as the UK news)….perhaps they are forgetting the Scottish (INO) media collective message is currently ‘Get Labour in Scotland elected’…..so a see, hear and speak no evil via any policy ALSO connected to New New Labour should, as a policy, never be noted or promoted….so another #FAIL for The Herald….surely ?

It’s undoubtedly from the finest research and reporting petro-dollars can buy..

Oil companies have become increasingly nervous over rising public support for low emission zones, and the uptake in EVs is giving car manufacturers palpitations as China ups their production numbers and lowers costs..

What I thought particularly telling in that article was –
“An LEZ Fightback spokesman said, “These findings come as no surprise. We have been heartened by the widespread opposition to a badly thought-out policy. It is a tax on tradesmen and low income families and has no bearing whatsoever on the environment.” “

  3. Depends how it is implemented. If enough allowance for change of vehicle. 10 year old cars to hybrid or electric vehicles. How much time is allowed for the implementation. It needs to be thought Re London

  4. Tories in Scotland tweeting today that pollution has gone up since this policy started. That can’t possibly be right I thought, then they said it was a quote from the Daily Mail.
