Worst ‘most cancelled’ 40 UK railway stations – NONE in Scotland

TransPennine Express was brought under government control after months of complaints about delays and cancellations

From BBC England but not on BBC Scotland, this morning:

Britain’s busiest railway stations with the highest rates of cancelled trains this year have been revealed. As of 31 July, Huddersfield has had more than 5,500 scheduled trains cancelled – the highest rate at 13%. BBC analysis of National Rail data also shows that almost half of the trains that ran across Britain were at least one minute late.

There’s a link to the survey which reveals no Scottish stations in the worst 100 for cancellations and delays until Edinburgh at 48, Glasgow Queen Street at 68 and Glasgow Central at 85.

  1. Westminster Gov wasting £Billions on HS2. Monies should have been spent on rail lines in the North and Scotland to improve rail journey times. To cut rail journey times in Britain. Rail journey times take twice as long as compared to the South. Air flights could have been reduced.

Westminster (Osbourne) total incompetence. Wasting £Billions on HS2, Hickley Point, Trident etc. The Tory/ unionists are clueless. Cut Education £6Billion a year. No increased funding for the NHS, Cut welfare £18Billion+.

Tories funding Education £100Billion, NHS £125Billion. Pension/welfare £250Billion. Not enough. Spending £1000Billion. Illegal wars, tax evasion and financial fraud. Westminster losing £Billions that could be better spent. Mismanaging Scotlands revenues and resources. Scotland raises £87Billion. Spends £54Billion. Westminster wastes the rest.

UK raises £631Billion . Westminster spends £1000Billion. Westminster borrows and spends £Billions on the rest of the UK. Scotland has to pay loan repayments on monies not borrowed and spent in Scotland, Westminster treasury takes the rest. The illegal Barnett Formula. Illegal under International Law.

  2. Great find , thank you , railways are a favourite of the britnats they love to try and defend their idiotic arrangement where more than a dozen companies run trains with another company again running the sale of tickets and yet another company maintaining the track , it’s a disaster , Scotland could be improving its rail service even more if it were not hampered by Englands control of our finances.

  3. saw the story, but coming out from bbc England assumed it was just that – England. But I suppose that was the idea. How many of us read an article right to the bitter end? Certainly not always, meaning in an SNP baaaaaaad story, you’ll read the Tories, Labour and Lib Dem baaaaaaaaaaaaaad comments (+ anyone else wanting to have a go) before you get to the SNP/SG view of the matter, tucked away right at the end, almost like an excuse.

  4. Great find but pity those poor people in northern England!! Of the worst 20 performing stations, nearly three quarters are in north and midlands: 3 are in Manchester alone, 4 in Yorkshire, 2 in Lancashire/Cheshire, 4 in Midlands, 1 in North East; one is in Wales but only a quarter (5) are in the traditional commuter hub of Southern England. A decade ago I spent three years commuting between two of the stations in the top 5 in Northern England – I doubt it would be possible now! Andy Burnham et al have their work cut out.

  5. It’s a funny thing – every single perceived Scottish government failure, no matter how small – will be beamed across the entire UK via TV and newspapers and social media until surely it escapes no single person in the land.
