The Herald’s David Leaks this morning:

How Rome’s rubbish emergency mirrors Scotland’s own litter woes

Is some Scottish Labour communications officer just back from Rome and thinks: ‘If Jackie Baillie can compare a serial baby killer to a water-born fungus, why can’t I do Rome and Scotland?’

  1. Leasky and the other contemptuous and contemptible media story tellers are ignoring the work of the several thousand volunteers who are out on Glasgow’s streets and parks collecting litter, bagging it and having it collected by the Council. Last weekend, 25 of us did our monthly tidy of the Claypits park. In 1.5 hours the group of three I was with collected one drinks can and a hanful of fag ends. There was so little litter we were able to spend most of the time, hoeing weeds and grass from the edges of paths.

In a unique event, STV actually reported one of these tidy-ups last week!

      1. He was spotted in Buchanan Bus station probably round about the beginning of August. There was a photo circulating of him.

His health / demeaner looked poor, or he was semi stotious, most likely both.

    LOL…..

George Foulkes…..talking of which ……is that the same Georges Foulkes who we, as voters , are supposed to neglect noting his affiliation with a party who opposes the SNP, as in the same George Foulkes who sits as a LABOUR peer in the HOL…..

The same George Foulkes who we ,as voters, should not consider that his opinions and the position that he (supposedly) holds, as being ones where he is (politically) compromised by him being an ex Labour MP and now a Labour Lord and thus he would obviously, via his various ‘opinions’ and ‘observations’ , always find fault with anything SNP related …what with him being a member of an OPPOSITION party to the SNP…in other words he seems to be “doing it deliberately”……

  3. “It has (sic) hard to make direct comparisons between countries and cities” says Leask having already attempted to do so – The Glasgow and Edinburgh refuse collection arrangements are not even vaguely comparable to the situation in Rome, where it been a massive issue for years.

Likely he owed Labour a ‘mention’ or one of the GMB goons with a giant rat…

  4. Edinburgh, Labour/Tory coalition council since May 2022. You should see it in 2023, it’s an utter mess. I spent quite a bit of time picking up rubbish in the streets in our area yesterday, when I went to local shops. Empty energy drinks cans, half empty water bottles, pretend cigarettes packets, crisp packets, beer cans, Starbucks drinks containers mostly full. It’s happening a lot and without being too paranoid, you’d be forgiven for thinking someone’s paying folk to dump stuff, also carrier bags with rubbish in them some unopened food snacks packets. The graffiti is off the scale, just in our area, it’s on everything from bus stops to historic buildings, every rubbish bin is covered, so many rubbish bins have no lids also some recycling bins have been trashed. The city is being trashed all happening in the past year.

When at my computer I’ll post a couple of pics, I keep taking photographs. I was shocked when I went for a walk into town recently, the graffiti, huge unemptied rubbish bins overflowing, and no it’s not due to the festival this was in a part where there is no festival footfall.
I’ll keep taking photographs, because it’s now starting to look like a ghetto, and we live just beside the posh new town. Lived here for decades, not seen anything like it until now. I talk to the local Scottish teens they are ok and not dumping rubbish.
I was out for a walk along the local river (as I do most days), and recently witnessed three folk one who was spraying ‘rat’ onto a historic wall. I was some distance away, but caught up with them, not teens, posh English folk about 20’s, well dressed. I asked why they’d sprayed the wall. ‘because we can’ one of them said, ‘it’s art, and we didn’t do it on the monument’. I reported it to the conservation folk, it’s considered a ‘heritage crime’, but the photo I had was too blurred to identify them. Seeing same colour red spray paint on phone boxes electricity boxes etc. I’ll put my camera on video next time.

It would be convenient for some for the capital city of Scotland to look like a ghetto, trashed.
The Labour/Tory council aren’t doing anything about it, too busy blocking roads with bollards for no reason, literally on a daily basis, (who is getting the contracts?) and giving permission for huge office buildings to be demolished in the city centre which will cause traffic chaos for months, to say the least.
Edinburgh’s a mess, and it’s all been happening since the last council elections.

End of rant, like one of those whining letters you get in the daily rags lol!

  5. Westminster needs a clear out and a clean up. Coming very soon. Full of waste of time and money articles. Filthy and corrupt.

Independent Scotland would have more to spend on essential services and cleaning up unionist sewage. Trident and redundant weaponry causing nuclear waste to be transported around the world. Japan now dumping nuclear waste into the Pacific.

Westminster funding nuclear decommissioning £13Billion a year. £130Billion over ten years. Faslane dump 40 minutes from Glasgow. The unionists appalling dirty waste of time and waste.
