£300 million of Scottish taxpayers’ money wasted on tanks that cannot go too fast

According to the Daily Telegraph today:

Trials of the vehicle had to be suspended from November 2020 to March of this year, after troops suffered swollen joints and tinnitus

Roughly £300 million of the above cost will be met by Scottish taxpayers and added to our deficit in the next set of GERS figures.

The tank in question, six years late already:

A project to provide next-generation armoured vehicles to the military has been “a complete and utter disaster”, a former top brass said.

Delivery of the Ajax light tank has been a “rocky road”, a defence minister also acknowledged at Westminster.

The Government was tackled over the progress of the problematic £5.5 billion programme in the House of Lords.

The Ajax project, intended to provide a state-of-the-art fighting vehicle for the Army, has been running for 12 years and cost £3.2 billion but has failed to deliver a single deployable vehicle.

Unlike with Scottish ferry construction delays, there are no visible calls for any ministers to resign.

    “Instead of focussing on purely local interests, we would be better served if more MPs were asking penetrating questions about the state of the Royal Navy. “Can the minister please explain why it will take at least 8 years to build the first Type 26 frigate and what steps are you going to take to accelerate delivery of these warships, critical to our national defence?””

  4. Throw in the carriers sans aircraft plus the carrier that’s just returned ‘HOME’ to Portsmouth after repairs in Rosyth.
    Won’t return to service until next year, just in time for the other carrier’s refit.

    Resign ?…..why surely you know that is a demand only RESERVED for ministers from a certain DEVOLVED government….as in the one in Scotland ……and note also how RESERVED certain pro UK politicians, and their UK media, are in their LACK of criticism upon another one….as in the Welsh DEVOLVED government …..

    Meanwhile the TORY UK government are now so bad at the “Day job” that constant duck ups are now just the norm via them…so much so that you don’t even need to RESERVE judgement upon them …you know their guilty….perhaps they should have DEVOLVED their power to somewhere else as obviously, based on a catalogue of examples of their various duck ups, they are so obviously not up to the (Day) job…….maybe they need to start RESERVING their energy and power , as so far, they are looking very much like a spent force ……and as such should really RESIGN themselves to the fact that their time is almost done as those in charge in their UK…..alas the ones assumed to be taking over in the UK are just as bad…… and I wish more Scots would stop RESERVING their judgement upon them, New New Labour, as a party , because they being considered as the lesser of two evils….well perhaps voters should note that the lesser of TWO evils….is STILL ….EVIL (EVEL really like the Tories)…..

  6. The Tory ministers will be gone quite soon. The Scottish Gov will continue.to fight for Independence. Support increasing. Instead of Scotland losing revenues and resources to Westminster unionist total fraud and corruption. GERS.

    Scotland is losing £Billions because of Brexit. Scotland did not vote for it. £Billions lost making repayments on loans not borrowed or spent in Scotland
    £1Billion on Trident and redundant weaponry. £Billions in tax evasion. £Billions wasted on illegal wars, Scotland in surplus is fuel and energy 25% pays more. Scotland is losing £Billions to Westminster unionist corruption and poor, bad decisions.

    Scotland raises £90Billion. The UK raises £650Billion. Rest of the UK raises £560Billion. Scotland raises much more pro rata. Westminster spends £1000Billion. Westminster unionists borrow and spend what they like. Scotland pays the price and gets back less than it raises. The Tories have funded the NHS £125Billion a year since 2010. Cutting funding rather than increasing it. Cut £16Billion from Welfare. Education cut £6Billion a year since 2015 to 2020+. £30Billion+.

    The Tory ministers will be gone. Not long to go. Scotland needs to vote for Independence. Vote for Independence supporting Parties. Take one other to the Polling station. GE communications going out. A higher turnout.
