Rutherglen and Hamilton West alert – child poverty was 40% more common in Labour leader’s constituency

Don’t get too far left of me Michael!

According to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation in 2021, child poverty in the SNP constituency in North Lanarkshire was 23%. Unacceptable, I know, but lower than in most of the UK thanks to the Scottish Government’s efforts including the child payment, bedroom tax compensation, lower rent, more affordable housing and free school dinners.

In Sir Keir Starmer’s constituency in Camden, London, it was 32%, 40% higher despite Labour control of the local authority since 2010.

  1. That’s ‘whataboutery’ and you are not allowed to deploy such a tactic. It is, of course, entirely legitimate for the Labour Party to use it in relation to Scotland as in the case of deaths related to the misuse of drugs. ‘Whataboutery’ is an end in itself there. Improvements in fatality rate are not to be acknowledged.

In fact, ‘a Labour Party working group under Lord fforfoulkessake, is allegedly looking at how to ensure the right to deploy whataboutery will always be retained at Westminster.

  2. Whitaboutery or context?

Depends on what “narrative” the Brit Nats and their media mouthpieces want to weaponise.
