As a nurse kills at least 7 babies no Conservative politician is even asked what they think but when 2 babies die after an infection in Scotland, here comes Anas and the ‘biggest scandal of the devolution era’

In England today, a nurse was found guilty of killing 7 babies and may have killed many more, under the noses of consultants and in a health trust where administrators seemed to have obstructed whistle-blowing by other staff, even forcing some to apologise to the suspect.

BBC UK has four prominent reports on the case on their website at: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk

In none of them is the Conservative Government Health Secretary, Steve Barclay approached for comment. In none, is the opposition leader or the shadow health secretary offering comment.

In all of these 4 BBC UK reports, this is an emotional contest between the health trust and the parents alone.

In Scotland on 31 January 2019, we read:

Two babies die after contracting blood infection

In the report, which does not and cannot blame the hospital for causing the deaths, unlike in the Letby case, the SNP Health Secretary, Jeanne Freeman is asked to comment and we then get this:

Scottish Conservative health spokesman Miles Briggs said the “desperately tragic story” raised “serious questions” about infection control in hospitals.

“Four deaths have now occurred in recent times under circumstances like these, and it’s time for the SNP government to get a grip on this situation,” he said.

“Our sympathies go out to the families involved, who are going through unimaginable trauma. Staff, patients and families need vital reassurance as a matter of urgency.”

Labour MSP Monica Lennon added: “This is utterly heartbreaking and tragic. My thoughts go out to the families of these babies who will be absolutely devastated.

“Coming so soon after the deaths of patients at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, this will leave people questioning infection control standards at hospitals in Glasgow and across the country.

“The health secretary must urgently provide the reassurance the public needs.”

Still milking the story on 27 May 2021, with:

Hospital child infection deaths ‘biggest scandal of devolution era’

and this image:

the First Minister is quizzed and we get:

Mr Sarwar said the first minister’s response was “not good enough”, and that someone should take responsibility for the scandal.

He said: “Nicola Sturgeon was health secretary when this hospital was commissioned, and she was first minister when it opened despite an independent review finding that the water supply was not safe.

“But the only people that have paid the price for this scandal have been the families and the whistleblowers.

“Years on, why has nobody taken responsibility? Why have there been no consequences, why are families still having to fight for the truth? Who is going to be held accountable?”

Finally, for this report but by no means the only other report of this nature, on the 25 November 2021:

Two more child deaths ‘linked to hospital infections’

and this image:

the First Minister is challenged again and this time Sarwar’s comments form the basis of the BBC Scotland report, from the first to the last.

Only in Scotland is health-related tragedy used for such cynical political purposes.

  1. I’ like to see an orchestrated campaign against the BBC in Scotland, maybe a day where all indy supporters agree to cancel their licence fee together, to show them exactly what we think of this constant flow of anti- Scotland propaganda.
Honestly, when was the last time they had a good story concerning anything positive that has happened here?

  2. Anas ‘Ambulance Chaser’ Sarwar has no qualms about using children’s deaths for his petty political ends . He and most of the Labour/Conservative opposition MSPs are disgraceful opportunists who will continually talk down the Scottish Health Service in their heartless search for a way of scoring political points against a party which continues to thrash them at the ballot box .
Sarwar knows no limits to his callous disregard for propriety , as he has shown several times by using the name of a dead child in parliament to support his tawdry political opportunism .
The man is a disgrace – and yet he is tolerated by his party . What does that say about them ?

  3. The Tory unionists have underfunded the NHS for over 10 years. Trying to cut funding instead of increasing it. £125Billion. The Scottish Gov has to mitigate the cuts. The Tories are spending £1000Billion a year. Borrowing and spending in the rest of the UK what they like. Cutting Scotlands budget. Scotland has to pay loan repayments on monies not borrowed or spent in Scotland. The UK raises £700Billion. (On Average). Scotland raises £90Billion. (SNP Gov) Scotland does not get that back. The rest of the UK raises ££610Billion Westminster unionists spend £1000Billion.

Scotland loses £3Billion from tax evasion. £Billions paying loan repayment on monies not borrowed and spent in Scotland. Scotland cannot borrow £6Billion to invest paid for by growth. Scotland pays too much for Trident and redundant weaponry. £1Billion. Scotland loses £Billions on Brexit. Scotland did not vote for Brexit.

Scotland loses £Billion on Westminster Gov poor, bad decisions. Illegal wars, financial fraud and tax evasion. Scotland loses out. (£20Billion+) Ie the so called deficit. The illegal Barnett Formula. Breaking International Law. Scotland having to pay for non benefits and not being funding for what is needed by the electorate and society.

UK Gov whole accounts 2020/21. July 2023.

Barclay is the last in line of lies and deceit. The appointments of Tory of Health Board Head is political, unauthorised and unqualified. Barclay is responsible but denies responsibility. The right wing Press colluding and responsible. Also controlled by tax evading, non Dom Tories. Losing £Billions quicker than a sieve loses water.

Barclay & Co are responsible for the poverty and death of children. A whole scale Inquiry. He and others will have to resign, and go to prison for heinous crime. Life expectancy in the South going down. Austerity.

  4. John,Having had a quick glance through the Sunday Post “I know” I saw this Headline.

Should funding not be secured we’d have no option but to close facilities.

Will this be the next onslaught from our favorite station BBC Scotland all about the ferry ports crumbling.

Bang goes that ‘feel good’ factor in England that was supposed to deflect all of the current ‘bad times’ being experienced by many….all via the Tory UK government…..well Life is a B**** (rhymes with WITCH)….Ha Ha

  6. Are the determined seekers-after-truth, who comprise the Scottish media, at this very moment, seeking to find evidence if Ms Letby spent any holidays in Scotland. This would allow her Dameness and the Anus to badger the Scottish Government.

Is it not significant that Rudolf Hess flew to Scotland? Humza Yousaf has questions to answer.
