Disgruntled former SNP councillor drives non-life-threatening case to hospital for political reasons

From BBC Scotland, minutes ago:

A councillor has told how she drove an 86-year-old woman almost 60 miles (96km) from her home to hospital as there was no ambulance available.

Geva Blackett said she took the pensioner from Braemar, Aberdeenshire, to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after being told she had already waited six hours.

The woman was thought to be suffering from an infection, after suffering a broken hip in a fall.

The Scottish Ambulance Service apologised about service pressure.

BBC Scotland describe the councillor as an ‘independent’ and fail to mention that she left the SNP two years ago but refuses to stand down and allow the locals their democratic right to decide if they want to keep her or get their SNP councillor back.

When she resigned in 2021, she blamed the coalition with the Greens as ‘devastating for the energy sector in the north-east‘ but also because the Scottish ambulance service was in ‘disarray.’ Did she get that from BBC Scotland. Was she delighted with this opportunity to show just how bad the ambulance service is if you only look at one case and distort its severity? There’s a link to just how good Scotland’s ambulance service really is, below.

Now, wouldn’t an 86 year-old with a broken hip require a stretcher into an ambulance? If she could make it into and out of a car before bumping along the road, for two hours, from Braemar to Aberdeen, might she have been safer and more comfortable waiting at home?

This tale does not hang together as well as the hip seems to have.

How did BBC Scotland get this story. Did a disgruntled former SNP councillor contact the team at Pacific Quay, that has done so much to harm the SNP, the Scottish Government, all of us, because she’s in the huff with the SNP’s environmental policies just as much of the globe burns?

  1. From experience of my mother..

Women who are not mobile can be subjected to urine infections.
Giving rise to strange behavoirs, a doctor should be able to prescribe suitable antibiotics.

Perhaps this was the problem and not the bone break.

Political stunts are not just the mode of unionists.

  3. This story is going to be on BBC Scotland tonight like you someone with a broken hip would need stabilizing and I don’t see that being possible sitting in a car…..why did she not get a hold of Bowie I am sure he would have got the ambulance in no time.

  4. From the report on the news I got the distinct impression that she was recovering from a broken hip. It had been treated and then sent home to recuperate. An infection had set in which given her age and recent medical history meant she had to go to hospital. If her hip had been broken then there was no way the Councillor could have got her into a car.

  5. I don’t think the Councillor was in the slightest setting anything up, this story is more likely one of the BBC Scotland connections feeding them a lead…

Braemar is not in a place to which ambulances can be despatched from various locations, but the 6 hour wait tells you the call was categorised as non-urgent however Loiuse Hosie framed it.

The only interesting bit to the story was the community ambulance discussions with SAS for the Braemar area, which I hope proves successful.

  6. The local Doctors surgery should have been the first point of call. Or a call out to local Dr. A Doctor would have made a house call. In an emergency, to a distressed 86 year old as a priority. The professional health care would have decided is a 6 hour journey would have been appropriate.

Instead of a non professional health care interfering in the local community. A local councillor doing lots of harm, to the care of the elderly. Even a local nurse would have done better in the situation. The Councillors actions causing more distress.

A highly suspicious narrative. A local councillor divulging personal health information is illegal and against the data protection Act but they must know that. Not being exempt from professional guidelines to councillor behaviour. The Councillor is acting out of order.

The situation must have been under control. Non urgent or the Ambulance would have take 12 hours there and back. Could have come from Perth/Dundee quicker. The. councillor was causing the poor woman even more distress taking her on such an arduous journey. The Police would have been quicker. Public servants with their blue light on.

Instead of arresting innocent people and making them distress. The Councillor should have been talked to for making such unprofessional action. Breaking the Councillor Code of practice. Guidelines. Do not interfere and take 86 year old on a distressing journey. Leave it to the care professional instead of interfering. Or get medical training. A mental health assessment before leaking confidential information to the muck raking Press. They also need more professional training. Along with the Police breaking Police procedure. To busy guarding the £Billionaires at Balmoral to help a 86 year old in distress.

Or a busybody making up a false narrative to cause distress. The mountain rescue would have even come out. Medical training. Or the helicopter. Always transporting the Royal illegally. The airforce jets using the area as a training ground causing even more distress. Mr Burnett the local Tory millionaire list MSP could have come out in the 4 x 4 to give the constituent a lift. Too busy on the take at Holyrood to be on the case. 600 votes. Charlie’s second cousin. On the adjoining estate. The Tories appreciate a Royal patronise. Brings in the ill gotten Sillars at the expense of someone else.

  7. The Councillor supports Independence. The villagers were advertising for a new Doctor. Dr Cruickshank was already the Doctor there. The Councillor was on Masterchef. A conflict of interest or a minor achievement. More publicity and sillar. Coining it in.

  8. Ahhh yes the broken hip
    In fact a hairline fracture
Often exaggerated by people who have a hairline fracture in their arm or leg but say
Ive got a broken arm or Ive got a broken leg !
    Gee exaggerated or what
I think that so called independent ex snp is a Tory plant that rode on the back of the snp til she was found out then bailed and as we can see now the Tory face is there for all to see
