Don’t look! Reporting Scotland down, down, down today with their own wee anecdotes

Including an interview (below) with a very sweaty and distressed looking Fergus Smith ‘researcher’ in a sad attempt to join in with the Northern Ireland Police security breach, BBC Scotland’s repeated inserts in BBC Breakfast from around 06:30, opened with two dark reports not covered in their own website or by the press.

Feeds directly to reporters?

First, a ‘group of parents’ (Nicola from ASN Reform Scotland, Facebook) is going to protest about support for pupils with additional support needs. Not enough teachers they say and the Scottish Government, not the local authorities actually responsible for staffing schools, is asked for comment. No reference to: Pupil to teacher ratios in maintained schools were lowest in Scotland (13.2) and similar in Northern Ireland (17.7), England (18.0) and Wales (18.5). https://explore-education-statistics.service.gov.uk/find-statistics/education-and-training-statistics-for-the-uk

Second, poverty rates of disabled ‘here’ worsening according to two reports. Scottish Independent Living Coalition and Scottish Human Rights Council. Latter does not make that claim specifically but reports on pay gap.

Back to Fergus. What is ‘arguably the greatest personal data breach in Scottish history?’ He got access to maiden names which he says are commonly used as passwords! OMG! That would include passwords to the safe where your creepy uncle keeps his automatic weapons.

Way down in the full website report but not in the broadcast:

In a statement, NRS said: “Following an urgent review, it was concluded that only one customer had accessed images in this way.

“This incident did not meet the threshold for reporting as a personal data breach to the Information Commissioner’s Office.”

Not much of a story really, then?

  1. Unionists councils employed too many untrained classroom assistants instead of additional needs teachers. It would help kerp classroom sizes down. Especially in areas of increased house building. The unionist councils do not build schools until the pupil numbers to fill it are there. Putting increased pressure on the other schools in the area.

Scottish Gov are putting more monies into additional needs provision. The unionist councils are not providing adequate facilities. Defying Scottish Gov directive. Then blaming the Scottish Gov for the unionist councils inadequacy. Ie demanding more monies. They have wasted.

It is up to the voters to vote for Independence supporting Parties. Or stop moaning.

The parents should complain to the local councils or Cosla. To demand they follow the Scottish Gov directive instead of defying and ignoring it. Or vote for an independence supporting party. In a higher turnout. The unionist council are a disgrace. STV, D’Hondt imposed on Scotland without a mandate by unionists.

  2. To change additional needs provision for the better. All additional needs people their relatives and carers should start a campaign to make sure they all vote for an Independence supporting Party and for Independence. That will improve provision massively. Or they are part of the lack of provision policies.

Additional needs provision is vastly improving but being held back by unionist poor, bad policies and lack of unionist understanding.

  3. I think Fergus has just read one of Martin Williams “Ferry Story’s” to get himself into that state of obvious distress.

However as for BBC Reporting Scotland, it is just another contrived piece of grievance. It’s rubbish like this that is driving away their listeners.

  4. In years past, the late summer period when Parliament was closed, was called the ‘silly season’ by the news media because they had little to report and fell back on stories of cats stuck up trees or the mating habits of the Loch Ness Monster.

For about 15 years, the ‘silly season’ covers the Scottish media output all the time. Everything in Scotland is reported as ‘pure bad’ or ‘getting worser’.

  5. Don’cher know there is a by-election on?

The BEEB, North Brit and South Brit have to put their shoulders to the wheel to get rid of a pro-independence/pro-Scotland party and get Scotland’s Slacker party back in.
Ambivalent Micheal Shanks will be required to attend the Labour “expenses” forum IF he gets in—ask any Red or Blue Tory MP, but Wee Duggie Alexander is an EXPERT at pochlin’ (and pocketing) oor money.

  6. Not relevant to this story but one from Monday. The midday news on MacPravda had a report of a 14 year old who fell in the Grand Canyon. A real shame, but the death toll on Maui was rising and Russia had attacked civilian targets in Ukraine yet again. Why choose this?

  7. Grampian TV managed to find a teacher who was packing her bags and jumping on a plane to take up a teaching position in Dubai. She blamed the system in Scotland where too many teachers were employed on temporary contracts. Surely this is one profession, for the good of pupils as well as staff, where people should be able to plan their lives and not worry about being booted out after a year. It seems ludicrous that young teachers are leaving teacher training without the prospect of a job when there is supposed to be a teacher shortage.
