According to the Herald today, based on a feed from the Labour Party in Scotland, there has been a drop of 160 fewer bus routes in Scotland in the last year.
From BBC Politics, yesterday, fed by Labour too, 2 160 bus routes were lost in England last year.
All things being equal, with 10 times the population, the figure for England might have been expected to be around 1 600 but is, in fact, 2 160, 35% higher.
In what way might the SNP have protected bus companies and passengers better?
Free bus passes for all over 60.
Free bus passes for all under 22 year-olds to get to FE, HE, apprenticeships, first jobs or to help their grandparents.
A network support grant for bus providers of £120 million to replace old diesel with new electric buses.

You may be sure that whatever stats the opposition parties start screeching about in Scotland, figures in England about to be released will be much higher.

I live in Edinburgh and the bus service here is great….I was recently in Cambridge and the bus service there leaves a LOT to be desired….in fact the word ‘service’ after ‘Bus’ is an exaggeration…..or insult depending how you look at it.
If any person from Cambridge came to Edinburgh to visit and experienced OUR Bus SERVICE they would think they had died and gone to heaven….that’s how much better OUR actual bus service is compared to theirs……
But I guess Labour are desperate to rake up any old guff at a time when they think they have a political advantage over the SNP……..perhaps Labour here forget that Labour HQ need to do their bit, to win English votes, and thus must expose the dire position in England ,which as a position, is far worse than Scotland is under the SNP…..as in our government who have less money to make significant changes to improve upon all services in Scotland compared to the UK government who hold the purse strings for the UK…..purse strings Labour HQ hope to hold come the next GE…..and a purse that they will be as mean and protective of as the Tories are now…to us that is…..same old same old.

Scotland paying for HS2 and Trident. £Billions that could be used to improve rail and bus services in Scotland. Edinburgh transport is subsidised. Bus passes cannot be used on the trams. The trams have cut bus services. Rail journeys in Scotland take much longer than in the South.
